Camp Westerbork (Dutch: Kamp Westerbork, German: Durchgangslager Westerbork, Drents: Börker Kamp; Kamp Westerbörk ), also known as Westerbork transit camp, was a Nazi transit camp in the province of Drenthe in the Northeastern Netherlands, during World War II. It was located in the municipality of Westerbork, current-day Midden-Drenthe. Camp Westerbork was used as a staging location for sending Jews to concentration camps elsewhere.

Drenthe is a sparsely populated rural area, unlike many other parts of the Netherlands; except for the small cities of Assen (pop. 67,963) and Emmen (pop. 107,113), the land in Drenthe is mainly used for agriculture and it has a notable amount of forests and nature.

It might have been a satellite of Westerbork. It used to have two brinks (village squares). Of the northern brink only a dobbe (natural pool) remains.Zwiggelte was home to 184 people in 1840. The Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope and a large part of Westerbork transit camp were technically located in Zwiggelte and not Westerbork.

Eldersloo is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Aa en Hunze municipality in Drenthe. Eldersloo is not a statistical entity, but has its own postal code. It was first mentioned in 1302 as de Heilerslo, and probably means "forest of alder trees". In 1840, it was home to 8 people. Nowadays, it has about 15 houses.

It was first mentioned in 1217 as Anrepe and means "higher piece of land near water". The hamlet is located outside of the build-up area. In 1815, it became part of the municipality of Assen. In 1840, Anreep had 42 inhabitants.

Schieven is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Assen municipality in Drenthe. Schieven is a statistical entity with Anreep, however the postal authority have placed it under Assen. It was first mentioned in 1460 as "Johan Scheuen ... buur to Anrepe". The etymology is unclear. In 1840, it was home to 16 people.
