Forum Hadriani, in the modern town of Voorburg, was the northernmost Roman city on the European continent and the second oldest city of the Netherlands. It was located in the Roman province Germania Inferior and is mentioned on the Tabula Peutingeriana, a Roman road map. The site Forum Hadriani formed the nucleus of the civitas of the Cananefates, who lived west of the Batavians. It was situated along the Fossa Corbulonis or Corbulo-canal. This waterway was established about 47 AD by the Roman general Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo, forming an important shortcut between the rivers Rhine and Meuse. After the Batavian Rebellion, in which they participated, the Cananefates became loyal allies of the Romans. In 121, emperor Hadrian made a long voyage along the northwestern border of the empire, during which he visited the Cananefate town. He gave the town his own name, Forum Hadriani (Hadrian’s Market). An alternate name, maybe the only official name, was Municipium Aelium Cananefatium (Aelius being the family name of Hadrian). The shortened version of this name, MAC, has been found engraved in a couple of Roman milestones found in the neighbourhood. About 270 AD, after several plagues and attacks by Saxon pirates, the Romans abandoned Forum Hadriani. In 1771 a bronze right hand was excavated during garden work on the Arentsburg estate. This hand was used by Étienne Maurice Falconet as model for the equestrian statue of Peter the Great, The Bronze Horseman. The first scientific excavations at the site of Forum Hadriani were carried out by Caspar Reuvens, between 1827 and 1833. Reuvens held the world's first professorship of archaeology. Reuvens died before he could publish his findings. More excavations were done between 1908 and 1915 by Jan Hendrik Holwerda, who published the results of Reuvens together with his own discoveries in a comprehensive monograph in 1923.

Paul van Waarden is a defunct restaurant in Rijswijk, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 2002 and retained that rating until 2012. The loss of the Michelin star for 2013 was a real shock for the restaurant and they requested a discussion with Michelin. The restaurant closed due to a bankruptcy.For 2013, GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 13 out of 20 points.Head chef of Paul van Waarden was Paul van Waarden.Originally, the restaurant was located in Wassenaar and traded under the name De keuken van Waarden. In 2001, the restaurant moved to Rijswijk and changed its name.

Ypenburg Airport (Dutch: Vliegveld Ypenburg), which later became Ypenburg Air Base was an airport in the Netherlands in Leidschenveen-Ypenburg near the city of The Hague. The ICAO code was EHYB.

Hofwijck (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɔfʋɛik]; or Vitaulium in Latin) is a mansion built for 17th-century politician Constantijn Huygens. It is located in Voorburg on the Vliet canal from The Hague to Leiden. Formal address of the cultural heritage is 2 Westeinde, Voorburg, the Netherlands, but its location today is better known as the Voorburg railway station.

Voorburg is a town and former municipality in the west part of the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Together with Leidschendam and Stompwijk, it makes up the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. It has a population of about 39,000 people. It is considered to be the oldest city in The Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 1988. However in Holland the status of 'city' normally commenced with the bestowing of a 'city charter' by a its sovereign leader(s) and none is available that old. Human occupation has certainly been established as occurring two millennia ago, where Voorburg is located now. In 2002, the cities of Leidschendam and Voorburg were merged under the new municipality named "Leidschendam-Voorburg". Situated adjacent to the city of The Hague, it is often regarded as one of its suburbs.

Nieuw Binckhorst is a former industrial area in southeast The Hague, Netherlands, originally called Binckhorst, for which a plan was adopted in 2009 to transform 99.5 hectares (246 acres) into a mixed-use development along the lines of New Urbanism, including residential, employment and entertainment components and with Randstadrail regional light rail service. The Hague's long-term plan Structuurvisie 2020, "Structural Vision 2020", sees Nieuw Binckhorst as a future part of the city center of The Hague. It is seen as fundamental to the realization of the international ambitions of The Hague, and of the Randstad conurbation.

It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one Michelin star in the period 2011–present.GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 14 out of 20 points in 2012, two points less than in 2011.Head chef of Niven is Niven Kunz.The restaurant is a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.Chef Niven Kunz was formerly part owner of the Michelin starred 't Raethuys in Wateringen. A business conflict with his parents, also part owner of the restaurant, forced him to leave. After a stint at De Librije, where he had trained before, he opened Niven in the building that used to house Michelin starred 't Ganzenest. The official opening was performed by then mayor of Rijswijk mrs. G.W. van der Wel-Markerink on 11 May 2011.Niven was the first Michelin starred restaurant in the Netherlands to land a deal with discount-website Groupon. Besides being highly successful for chef Kunz, he sold 3500 covers in ten hours, it paved the way for other Michelin starred restaurants to land deals with Groupon.On the first of April 2020 it was announced that Niven went bankrupt. This happened during the COVID19-Crisis in 2020 although the crisis and its subsequent lock-down didn't cause Niven to go bankrupt it was the straw that broke the camels back.

't Ganzenest is a defunct restaurant in Rijswijk, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1994 and retained that rating until 2002.The owner and head chef of 't Ganzenest was Harry Visbeen.The restaurant was formerly located in The Hague, at the addresses Groenewegje 75-a and Groenewegje 115. It moved to Rijswijk in 1999.The restaurant closed in 2007, due to financial troubles and the threat of bankruptcy caused by a recession.

Voorburg is a railway station located in Voorburg, Netherlands on the Gouda–Den Haag railway. The station was opened on 1 May 1870 and The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station is also frequented by several local and some regional public bus-services.

The Netherlands Patent Office (Dutch: Octrooicentrum Nederland) is the patent office of the Netherlands. It is an agency of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The agency is located in the premises of the European Patent Office (EPO), in Rijswijk, near The Hague. The Netherlands Patent Office grants patents in the Netherlands and deals with European patents validated in the Netherlands. It assumes its functions from the rijksoctrooiwet (Royal Patent Act). Johannes Bob van Benthem was President of the Netherlands Patent Office from 1968 to 1977. Before March 24, 2005, the Netherlands Patent Office was known as the Netherlands Industrial Property Office.

The Needle of Ryswick or Rijswijk (Dutch: Naald van Rijswijk) is an obelisk in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, commemorating the Treaty of Ryswick (September 1697). The monument is at the location of the Huis ter Nieuwburg, the palace where the peace treaty was signed. It was built of materials from Huis ter Nieuwburg in 1792 to 1794. The palace was demolished in 1790 due to neglect.

Laak (Dutch pronunciation: [laːk]) is district of The Hague, Netherlands. With a population of 40,222 and an area of 4.3 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi), it is the smallest and least populous of the city's eight districts. The district is officially divided into three neighbourhoods: Laakkwartier, Spoorwijk and Binckhorst. The Hague University of Applied Sciences can be found in Laak. The municipality of The Hague bought the area from the municipality of Rijswijk in 1844. The Amsterdam–Haarlem–Rotterdam railway was constructed in this polder, together with the railway station Hollands Spoor. In the period between 1915 and 1935, the municipality developed a residential neighbourhood in Laak, designed by Dutch architect Berlage.
