Livermore Valley

The Centennial Light is the world's longest-lasting light bulb, burning since 1901, and almost never turned off. It is located at 4550 East Avenue, Livermore, California, and maintained by the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. Due to its longevity, the bulb has been noted by The Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, and General Electric.

Trevarno, California is a section of Livermore, Alameda County, California, built by a Cornish company, based at Trevarno, near Helston, manufacturing safety fuses. It is between First Street and the railroad and lies at an elevation of 535 feet (163 m). Trevarno is Cornish and means "farm/settlement of Varno." For more information, see Cornish surnames. Officials of Coast Manufacturing and Supply Company in Livermore named the area after George Bickford's home in Cornwall. The company made safety fuses invented by William Bickford, George's father.

Southfront Road is a planned railway station in Livermore, California. It is a stop on the planned Valley Link system. Rush hour short turn Valley Link trains would operate from here to Dublin/Pleasanton. Service is expected to start as early as 2028.

Vasco Road station (signed as Vasco) is an ACE station on Vasco Road in eastern Livermore, California. The station mainly serves the workers of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory and the surrounding industrial and office parks in eastern Livermore in addition to commuters from Livermore headed to job centers in the Silicon Valley to the southwest. BART approved an alignment for its Livermore extension to run along Interstate 580 then tunnel underneath Isabel Avenue to the Livermore ACE station and then continue along the right-of-way to Vasco Road to serve as its final terminal. However, in July 2011, the Livermore City Council reversed its position in response to a petition requesting that the alignment stay within or nearby the Interstate 580 right-of-way, and now favors stations be built at the Interstate 580 interchanges with Isabel Avenue and Greenville Road. The BART extension was later replaced with the Valley Link proposal, again along the I-580 alignment.

Concannon Vineyard is the second-largest winery in the Livermore Valley of California, producing around 30,000 cases annually. It is well known for its Petite Sirah and Concannon was the first winery to bottle this grape as a varietal wine in 1961. Prior to 1961, the petite sirah grape was produced worldwide as a blend wine. It also produces several other varieties of wine, including Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvingnon. Concannon is owned by The Wine Group.

Livermore Sanitarium was a private sanitarium and psychiatric hospital, located in Livermore, California, in operation from 1894 until 1965. The facility specialized the treatment and research of alcoholism and mental disorders. During this time period the Livermore Valley was considered an ideal climate for optimizing one's health.

Ulmar (formerly, Ulmar Siding) is a former unincorporated community now annexed to Livermore in Alameda County, California. It lies at an elevation of 551 feet (168 m). This former siding has median estimated value of $777,110 and expected growth rate of 2.40% for 2017-2022 according to that survey.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is a federally funded research and development center in Livermore, California, United States. Originally established in 1952, the laboratory now is sponsored by the United States Department of Energy and administered privately by Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC.The lab was originally established as the University of California Radiation Laboratory, Livermore Branch in 1952 in response to the detonation of the Soviet Union's first atomic bomb during the Cold War. It later became autonomous in 1971 and was designated a national laboratory in 1981.A federally funded research and development center, Lawrence Livermore Lab is primarily funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and it is managed privately and operated by Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC (a partnership of the University of California, Bechtel, BWX Technologies, AECOM, and Battelle Memorial Institute in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System). In 2012, the synthetic chemical element livermorium (element 116) was named after the laboratory.The Livermore facility was co-founded by Edward Teller and Ernest Lawrence, then director of the Radiation Laboratory at Berkeley.

Arroyo Seco is an 11.7-mile-long (18.8 km) watercourse in Alameda County, California, that traverses through the city of Livermore, emptying into Arroyo Las Positas. Arroyo Seco means "dry stream" in Spanish. Arroyo Seco lies above the Arroyo Seco watershed, which includes the eastern part of the city of Livermore and also the Sandia National Laboratory. The Mocho Subbasin is the largest of the subbasins in the Livermore Valley watershed. This subbasin is bounded to the west by the Livermore Fault Zone and to the east by the Tesla Fault. Some groundwater flow occurs across these fault boundaries, but flows are discontinuous below a depth of 50 feet (15 m) across the Tesla Fault and south of the Arroyo Mocho channel across the Livermore Fault. A number of threatened and endangered species reside in this watershed.

Founded in 1891, Livermore Union High School is a public high school located in the city of Livermore, California, United States. It is part of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. In 2007, it was chosen as one in four schools in Alameda County to receive the California Distinguished School award.

The East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) is a high school sports league in the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. The league was created in 1964; previously teams competed in the "East Bay Division" (EBD) of the Diablo Valley Athletic League (DVAL). Its member institutions are located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, in the cities of Concord, Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. In the fall of 2016 the E.B.A.L. expanded to a 10 team league (De La Salle competing in boys sports & Carondelet in girls sports) by adding Dublin High School, and Dougherty Valley High School. De La Salle stopped competing in EBAL Football in 2012-13 and competed as an Independent school in football. In 2018, De La Salle was re-admitted back into the EBAL Football League and now competes again for the league title. Also in 2018, the EBAL split its Football League into two "Divisions"; the Mountain Division (consisting of California, De La Salle, Foothill, San Ramon and Monte Vista) and the "Valley Division" (consisting of Amador Valley, Dougherty Valley, Dublin, Granada and Livermore). In 2020, Foothill moved to the Valley Division and in 2021, Amador Valley moved to the Mountain Division. In the fall of 2019 the E.B.A.L. expanded to a 11 team league by adding Clayton Valley High School to the league, competing in the Mountain Division in football. The league has twelve affiliated schools. Laddville (or "Laddsville") is a former settlement in the western Livermore Valley of Alameda County, California. It was located east of the settlement which eventually became Livermore.
