The Hettstädt is a mountain between Oberweißbach/Thür. Wald and Neuhaus am Rennweg. At 808 metres, it is one of the highest mountains in the Thuringian Highland. It is best accessed from the road between Cursdorf and Neuhaus am Rennweg. Its southern foothills, the Selig (730 m), Steinbiel (745 m) and Fischbachsberg (721 m) form the transition from the mountain railway region of Raanz to the actual Northern High Slate Mountains (Nördlichen Hohen Schiefergebirge). In the immediate vicinity is the Eisenach–Budapest European long-distance trail.

Schwarzatal is a town and a municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. It was created with effect from 1 January 2019 by the merger of the former municipalities of Mellenbach-Glasbach, Meuselbach-Schwarzmühle and Oberweißbach. The name refers to the river Schwarza.

Rückersbiel

The Rückersbiel a 755.6 m high (above sea level) mountain located in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia (Germany). It is located close to the municipality of Lichte and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park. The section of the Rennsteig walkway between Neuhaus am Rennweg and Ernsttal am Rennsteig runs close to the Rückertsbiel plateau.

Neuhaus am Rennweg

Neuhaus am Rennweg is a town in the district of Sonneberg, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated in the Thuringian Forest, 17 km north of Sonneberg, and 22 km southwest of Saalfeld. The former municipalities Lichte and Piesau were merged into Neuhaus am Rennweg in January 2019.

Deesbach Forebay

The Deesbach Forebay (German: Vorsperre Deesbach) is a dam in the German state of Thuringia in the Thuringian Highland. It impounds the river Lichte and lies between the municipalities Lichte (Geiersthal) and Unterweissbach. That particular forebay belongs to the Leibis-Lichte Dam (de: Talsperre Leibis-Lichte). The name, Deesbach Forebay, was derived d from the close proximity to the municipality Deesbach.

Apelsberg

The Apelsberg is a 785.3 m high (above sea level) mountain located in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia (Germany). It is located close to the municipality of Lichte and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park. The section of the Rennsteig walkway between Neuhaus am Rennweg, Ernstthal am Rennsteig, and Spechtsbrunn runs close to the mountain.

Oberweißbacher Bergbahn

The Oberweißbacher Bergbahn is a German railway in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia. Since 1922 it connects Obstfelderschmiede (Mellenbach-Glasbach) with the village Lichtenhain, Oberweißbach and Cursdorf. The train consists of 1.351 km broad gauge cable railway and connects to a 2.635 km standard gauge electrified adhesion railway.
