Schwarzatal

Bergbahnregion/Schwarzatal is a former Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("municipal association") in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Oberweißbach. It was disbanded in January 2019. Oberweißbach (or Oberweissbach, pronounced [ˌoːbɐˈvaɪsbax] ) is a town and a former municipality in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the town Schwarzatal.

The Deesbach Forebay (German: Vorsperre Deesbach) is a dam in the German state of Thuringia in the Thuringian Highland. It impounds the river Lichte and lies between the municipalities Lichte (Geiersthal) and Unterweissbach. That particular forebay belongs to the Leibis-Lichte Dam (de: Talsperre Leibis-Lichte). The name, Deesbach Forebay, was derived d from the close proximity to the municipality Deesbach.

Cursdorf is a municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany.

The Oberweißbacher Bergbahn is a German railway in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia. Since 1922 it connects Obstfelderschmiede (Mellenbach-Glasbach) with the village Lichtenhain, Oberweißbach and Cursdorf. The train consists of 1.351 km broad gauge cable railway and connects to a 2.635 km standard gauge electrified adhesion railway.

Mellenbach-Glasbach is a village and a former municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the town Schwarzatal.

The Hettstädt is a mountain between Oberweißbach/Thür. Wald and Neuhaus am Rennweg. At 808 metres, it is one of the highest mountains in the Thuringian Highland. It is best accessed from the road between Cursdorf and Neuhaus am Rennweg. Its southern foothills, the Selig (730 m), Steinbiel (745 m) and Fischbachsberg (721 m) form the transition from the mountain railway region of Raanz to the actual Northern High Slate Mountains (Nördlichen Hohen Schiefergebirge). In the immediate vicinity is the Eisenach–Budapest European long-distance trail.

Meura is a municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. It is the location of Europe's largest stud farm for Haflinger horses.

The Spitzer Berg is a 790.3 m high (above sea level) mountain located in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia (Germany). It is located close to the municipality of Lichte and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park within walking distance of the Rennsteig.
