Lehman High School is a public high school located in Kyle, Texas, United States and classified as a 5A high school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is a part of Hays Consolidated Independent School District, located in east central Hays County. It was established in 2004 and is named after the family of Ted Lehman, a former Hays CISD School Board President, who also donated a parcel of land where the school is located. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Niederwald is a city in Caldwell and Hays counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 565 at the 2010 census. Niederwald means "low forest", or "low wood", in German. It was named Niederwald by the German founders of the town. This region of Central Texas was settled in the 1800s primarily by Germans and European emigrants and is referred to as the Texas-German belt by locals.

On July 30, 2016, sixteen people were killed when the hot air balloon they were riding in struck power lines, crashed and caught fire in the unincorporated community of Maxwell, near Lockhart, Texas, 30 miles (50 km) south of the state capital Austin. It is the deadliest ballooning disaster to ever occur in the United States.

The Katherine Anne Porter House is a historic house located in Kyle, Texas. It was built in 1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The house is the childhood home of writer Katherine Anne Porter. It was restored and turned into a short-lived museum at the instigation of Tom Grimes, then-director of the Texas State University MFA program.The house is now home to the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center, which hosts readings from the Porter collections at the Wittliff collections, located on the seventh floor of the Albert B. Alkek Library at Texas State University. The Center is open to visitors by appointment.
