KUOL (1470 AM) was a radio station broadcasting a Spanish language Christian radio format. Licensed to San Marcos, Texas, United States, it simulcast Radio Cristiana. The station's license was cancelled by the FCC on November 12, 2013, and the call letters were deleted.

Bobcat Stadium is a football stadium on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. It opened in 1981 and was expanded in 2011–2012 to its present 30,000-seat capacity. Bobcat Stadium has been the home field for the Texas State Bobcats since 1981. In November 2003, the field was renamed Jim Wacker Field in honor of the former Bobcats football coach and director of athletics.

The Kyle Unit (or Kyle Correctional Center) is a private state prison for men located in Kyle, Hays County, Texas, which is operated by Management and Training Corporation under contract with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.This facility was opened in June 1989, and a maximum capacity of 520 prisoners in special therapeutic and substance abuse programs.

Bobcat Ballpark is a baseball venue in San Marcos, Texas, on the campus of Texas State University. It is home of the Texas State Bobcats baseball team of the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. It currently holds 2,400 spectators. In 2008, the baseball and softball stadiums were renovated and expanded to its current design. In addition, four luxury suites for up to 12 people were added. The renovations made their debut on March 5, 2009 against the Texas Longhorns with a record setting 2,593 people.Features of the venue include a press box, team merchandise area, batting cages, stadium lighting, and a chain link/mesh backstop.In 2013, the Bobcats ranked 47th among Division I baseball programs in attendance, averaging 1,368 per home game.In addition to Bobcat baseball, the stadium hosts other baseball events, such as high school baseball tournaments. From May 23–26, 2012, it hosted the 2012 Southland Conference baseball tournament, won by UT Arlington.

San Marcos Springs is the second largest natural cluster of springs in Texas. The springs are located in the city of San Marcos, Texas, about 30 miles (48 km) southwest of Austin and 46 miles (74 km) northeast of San Antonio. Although Spring Lake is highly protected, it is accessible to visitors through the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, a program of Texas State University, which offers glass-bottom boat tours among other opportunities to explore and learn about the ecosystem.

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, formerly Aquarena Springs and later the Aquarena Center, is an educational center in San Marcos, Texas, that seeks to preserve the unique archeological and biological resources of Spring Lake. Formed from more than 200 artesian springs, this lake is one of the world's largest aquifer fed systems. A state antiquities landmark, this site is also believed to be one of the longest continuously inhabited places in North America. The Meadows Center provides educational programs, recreation, hands-on activities and collaborative projects that encourage visitors, scientists and students to learn about Spring Lake's habitat, endangered species and water/environmental resource management issues. There are glass-bottom boat rides , and the Discovery Center provides educational displays allowing people to view native animals and fish. Snorkeling and diving programs are offered with an educational emphasis and interpreter led field trips. The Meadows Center develops programs and techniques for ensuring sustainable water, economic resources as well as ecosystem health. The Center is used by Texas State University State University, and its multidisciplinary departments are involved with water resource management studies and research. The Meadows Center at Spring Lake Hall houses the Texas Stream Team, a volunteer program that monitors the water quality of freshwater systems throughout the state. The Center was established in 1994 when Texas State, formerly Southwest Texas University, purchased land that was previously used as an amusement park, including Spring Lake, then an artificial freshwater reservoir.

Strahan Arena is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena in San Marcos, Texas. It is an $8.8 million facility built in 1982 and is home to the Texas State University Bobcats men's basketball team, women's basketball team and women's volleyball team. The arena was previously known as Strahan Coliseum, but changed its name to the University Events Center as part of a late 2018 expansion.On September 15, 2008, the Houston Comets and the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA came to play in the Coliseum due to Hurricane Ike canceling the final home game of the regular season for the Houston Comets. The Comets defeated Sacramento 90–81. This would end up being the last game the Comets ever played; they folded after the season ended. On March 21-22, 2021, the arena hosted six First Round games of the 2021 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament as part of the relocation of the entire event to San Antonio and surrounding areas due to COVID-19 precautions.

The Katherine Anne Porter House is a historic house located in Kyle, Texas. It was built in 1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The house is the childhood home of writer Katherine Anne Porter. It was restored and turned into a short-lived museum at the instigation of Tom Grimes, then-director of the Texas State University MFA program.The house is now home to the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center, which hosts readings from the Porter collections at the Wittliff collections, located on the seventh floor of the Albert B. Alkek Library at Texas State University. The Center is open to visitors by appointment.
