Eightmile Creek Falls is a waterfall that flows from Eightmile Creek, just before it washes into the Columbia River, approximately 450 feet above sea level, located in the U.S. state of Washington. Shortly downstream Eightmile Creek takes a sharp turn around a canyon bend before emptying in the Columbia River. Eightmile Creek is located north of State Route 14 East of Horesthief Lake along the Columbia River Gorge. There's a viewpoint just east of the Access Road off Route 14. Eightmile Creek Falls spills over rimrock into a narrow slot canyon that becomes dry in the late season.

Fairbanks is an unincorporated community in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. It is about 12 miles (19 km) east of The Dalles, just south of U.S. Route 30/Interstate 84, near Fifteenmile Creek.Fairbanks was established in 1905 as a station on the Great Southern Railroad. It was named for Charles W. Fairbanks, then newly elected vice president under Theodore Roosevelt. Fairbanks post office was established in 1905 and ran until 1909, when it closed out to Freebridge. Freebridge soon closed out to Wrentham. Both locales were also Great Southern stations.

Eightmile Creek is a stream in Wasco County and Hood River County, Oregon, in the United States. It is a tributary of Fifteenmile Creek. Eightmile Creek was named from its distance, eight miles (13 km) from The Dalles.

Columbia Hills State Park is a Washington state park located 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Dallesport on SR 14 in Klickitat County. The park occupies 3,338 acres (1,351 ha) on Horsethief Lake, an impoundment of the Columbia River, and was created in 2003 with the merger of Horsethief Lake State Park and Dalles Mountain Ranch.

Celilo Falls (Wyam, meaning "echo of falling water" or "sound of water upon the rocks," in several native languages) was a tribal fishing area on the Columbia River, just east of the Cascade Mountains, on what is today the border between the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. The name refers to a series of cascades and waterfalls on the river, as well as to the native settlements and trading villages that existed there in various configurations for 15,000 years. Celilo was the oldest continuously inhabited community on the North American continent until 1957, when the falls and nearby settlements were submerged by the construction of The Dalles Dam. In 2019, there were calls by tribal leaders to restore the falls.

Cushing Falls, is a waterfall located south of Seufert County park on the shore of the Columbia River, just east of The Dalles, in Wasco County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It totals 8 feet waterfall along the course of Fifteenmile Creek surrounded by a dryer natural environment than the western flank of the Columbia Gorge.

Fifteenmile Creek is a 54-mile (87 km) long tributary of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Oregon. It drains 373 square miles (966 km2) of Hood River and Wasco counties. Arising in the Cascade Range near Mount Hood, it flows northeast then west to its confluence with the Columbia near The Dalles. It was named "fifteenmile" because in pioneer days the main road crossed the creek about fifteen miles (24 km) from The Dalles.

Celilo Village, Oregon is an unincorporated Native American community on the Columbia River in northeastern Wasco County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is near Lake Celilo, the former site of Celilo Falls; it is just south of the community of Wishram, Washington, across the Columbia River. In 2003 about 100 permanent residents lived in 14 dwellings. The site was once a major cultural and trading center, until Celilo Falls was inundated by The Dalles Dam in 1957. The 2000 census reported a total resident population of 44 persons living on a land area of 102.11 acres (0.4132 km2). The United States Army Corps of Engineers provided funding for construction of a new tribal long house in 2006. The Corps of Engineers built and maintains the dams that have annihilated the salmon runs upon which Native ceremonial, commercial and dietary life depend. Most residents of Celilo are members of either the Yakama Nation or Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Some may be members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, or the Nez Perce tribe. Many residents are fishers engaging in ceremonial, subsistence, and commercial fisheries for salmon, steelhead, and sturgeon in the Columbia River. While the historic fishing site at Celilo Falls is gone, there is an "in lieu" fishing site provided by the Army Corps of Engineers after litigation with the Tribes against the COE, that maintains access for tribal members to the river. Most tribal fishing is done currently with gillnets or from platforms built along the river.

Wishram is a train station in Wishram, Washington served by Amtrak's Empire Builder line. The station consists of a platform adjacent to a modern, pre-fabricated building that contains BNSF offices. Although Wishram is one of the smallest communities served by Amtrak, it is an important gateway to the scenic recreational opportunities offered by the Columbia River. Amtrak does not provide ticketing or baggage services at this facility, which is served by two daily trains. The station, parking, track, and platforms are owned by BNSF Railway.The first passenger trains to serve Wishram began on December 15, 1907 with the opening of the Portland and Seattle Railway.

The Celilo Converter Station, built in 1970 and owned and operated by the Bonneville Power Administration, is the northern terminus of the Pacific DC Intertie, near The Dalles, Oregon, in the United States.

The Pacific DC Intertie (also called Path 65) is an electric power transmission line that transmits electricity from the Pacific Northwest to the Los Angeles area using high voltage direct current (HVDC). The line capacity is 3.1 gigawatts, which is enough to serve two to three million Los Angeles households and represents almost half of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) electrical system's peak capacity.The intertie originates near the Columbia River at the Celilo Converter Station of Bonneville Power Administration's grid outside The Dalles, Oregon and is connected to the Sylmar Converter Station north of Los Angeles, which is owned by five utility companies and managed by LADWP. The Intertie can transmit power in either direction, but power flows mostly from north to south. The section of the line in Oregon is owned and operated by Bonneville Power Administration, while the line in Nevada and California is owned and operated by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The transition is at the Oregon–Nevada border, at 41°59′47″N 119°57′44″W. This is one of two HVDC lines serving Los Angeles; the other is Path 27.

Seufert County Park is a public park located just east of The Dalles, Oregon, United States, and is operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The park's main attraction is The Dalles Dam Visitor Center where one can view exhibits regarding the history and function the dam. The park is named after the Seufert family which operated a salmon cannery near the park from the late 19th century until the construction of the dam. The park also has picnic tables and a small rose garden.
