Bow Street, Ceredigion

Bow Street is a railway station on the Cambrian Line, which runs between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth or Pwllheli. The station, situated 4 miles 30 chains (7 km) north-east of Aberystwyth, serves the villages of Bow Street and Pen-y-garn in Ceredigion, Wales. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Transport for Wales. The original station was closed on 14 June 1965. The current station was constructed on a different site, just south of the original. Funded by the Welsh Government and the Department for Transport, it opened on 14 February 2021.

Tirymynach (Welsh pronunciation: [ˌtir ə ˈmənaχ]) is a community in Ceredigion, Wales, also an electoral ward, which lies immediately to the north of Aberystwyth. Tirymynach is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and the Member of Parliament is Ben Lake (Plaid Cymru).This community includes the villages of Bow Street, Clarach, Dole, Llangorwen and Pen-y-garn. The area of the community is roughly 15 square km.

Pen-y-garn is a small village in the Tirymynach district of Ceredigion, Wales, approximately 4 miles (6 km) north-east of Aberystwyth. Along with the hamlet of Rhydypennau, Pen-y-garn is now often considered to be part of the neighbouring larger village of Bow Street. All three places stretch in a long narrow strip along the main Aberystwyth to Machynlleth road (A487). As well as the houses on the main road from Cross Street (Y Lon Groes) up to Ysgol Rhydypennau, Pen-y-garn also includes the housing estates of Maes Ceiro, Bryn Meillion, Maes y Garn and Cae'r Odyn.

Bow Street F.C. are based at Rhydypennau near Bow Street in Ceredigion, Wales, about 4+1⁄2 miles (7.2 km) north-east of Aberystwyth, and are currently playing in the Ardal Leagues North East. The team are nicknamed the Magpies (Welsh: piod), from the time when their strip was black and white stripes.

Gogerddan, or in English, Gogarthen, was an estate near to Trefeurig and the most important in what was then the county of Cardiganshire, Wales. Owned since at least the fifteenth century by the Pryse family, the main house, called Plas Gogerddan, still stands and is a Grade II listed building. The estate became especially wealthy from the seventeenth century on the profits from lead mining, which is when the house was constructed. The house was significantly altered in the 1860s and was sold by Sir Pryse Loveden Saunders-Pryse to University College of Wales in 1949.Gogerddan provisionally held the high temperature record for Wales – 35.3°C, which was recorded on 18 July 2022. It replaced the previous record holder Hawarden which held the record for almost 32 years. This record was short-lived, however, as by the end of the same day, Hawarden recorded a temperature of 37.1°C.

Rhydypennau is a hamlet in the Genau'r-glyn district of Ceredigion, Wales, approximately 4+1⁄2 miles (7.2 km) north-east of Aberystwyth. Along with the village of Pen-y-garn, Rhydypennau is now often considered to be part of the neighbouring village of Bow Street. Hen Gaer is an Iron Age hillfort, on a hill adjacent to and east of Bow Street, Ceredigion, Wales. Other names of the hillfort are Broncastellan and Caer Shon.

Faenor is a community and electoral ward sharing a boundary with the town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion, Wales.Faenor also has two community wards which elect 12 councillors to Faenor Community Council: One covers Waun Fawr and most of the student village Pentre Jane Morgan of Aberystwyth University, while the other covers Comins Coch, Capel Dewi and Lovesgrove.Most of the houses in Faenor were built from the 1960s onwards to house the expanding population of Aberystwyth and its University. Pentre Jane Morgan is purpose-built student accommodation on land which used to be part of the University farm until the 1990s.

Castell Gwallter, also known as Walter's Castle and sometimes Castell Penweddig, is the remains of a Norman motte-and-bailey castle situated on a large hill above the old village of Llandre (Llanfihangel Genau'r Glyn) in northern Ceredigion, Wales, four miles northeast of Aberystwyth.

Comins Coch (officially spelt Comins-coch) is a small village in Ceredigion, Wales, to the northeast of Aberystwyth. The village is covered by Faenor community/parish council.There are approximately 300 residents living in the village, which includes a primary school, phone box and a post box. The village incorporates two main housing estates, one consisting in part of rental and leasehold properties owned and managed by housing association Barcud Cyfyngedig.Ysgol Comins Coch (Comins Coch Primary School) is currently the largest property in the village, with approximately 170 pupils and over 20 members of staff as of 2023.

Llandre (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈɬandrɛ]), or Llanfihangel Genau'r Glyn, is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. It lies 5 miles north of Aberystwyth in the north-west of the county, on the road from Rhydypennau to Borth. To the north of the community lies the village of Dôl-y-bont. The community is called Geneu'r Glyn.

Capel Dewi is a hamlet in Ceredigion, Wales, approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east of Aberystwyth. It is one of two settlements called Capel Dewi in the county, the other being Capel Dewi near Llandysul. The majority of Capel Dewi lies south of the River Peithyll, a tributary of the Afon Clarach. One of the more unusual features of the hamlet is the nearby LIDAR system, which is run by the University of Manchester. In 2010 the LIDAR system at Capel Dewi provided vital information in the tracking of the ash cloud caused by the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull.
