Fair Play AVA

Fair Play (formerly, Fairplay) is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) northeast of Aukum, at an elevation of 2329 feet (710 m). Fair Play was a mining town in the 1850s, transitioning to a farming economy by the 1880s. The Fair Play Cemetery remains open and active today. In more recent years the Fair Play area has become known for its wineries; the Fair Play AVA was established in 2001 and has become a local travel destination for small accommodations, vineyards and wineries with well over 20 properties. A post office was operated at Fair Play from 1860 to 1944.

The station is currently owned by Lotus Communications, who bought the then-KMJE from Results Radio on September 3, 2013, and took over ownership on December 10, 2013. It is also broadcasting on AM at 890, known as KSAC, which signed on as KMJE in the summer of 2014.

KFBK-FM (93.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Pollock Pines, California and serving the Sacramento metropolitan area. It simulcasts KFBK 1530 kHz. KFBK-AM-FM air a news-talk radio format and are owned by iHeartMedia. The studios and offices are on River Park Drive in North Sacramento, near the Arden Fair Mall. KFBK-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 20,500 watts. The transmitter is on Grizzly Flat Road at Mehwald Lane in Sweeneys Crossing, an unincorporated community in El Dorado County. KFBK-FM formerly broadcast in the HD Radio hybrid format.

Somerset is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located 6.25 miles (10 kilometers) south of Camino, at an elevation of 2,093 feet (638 meters). Its ZIP Code is 95684. Somerset is a rural town located at the junction of Bucks Bar Road, Grizzly Flat Road, and Mount Aukum Road. The town has a small store, the Gold Vine Bistro, the Crossroads Cafe, a small storage facility, and a post office. Most of the land in the Somerset area is divided into ten acre properties. The main roads are asphalt but almost all of the other roads and driveways are dirt/rock. The main business in the area comes from the many boutique wineries and wine tourism. The post office was transferred from Youngs to Somerset in 1950. The first settlers came from Somerset, Ohio and named the place after their hometown.

Outingdale (formerly, Mars and Outingdale Resort) is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located on the Middle Fork of the Cosumnes River 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Aukum, at an elevation of 1624 feet (495 m). Outingdale was founded in 1928 as a resort community, originally consisting of 680 acres of land, more than half of it shared recreational space. Outingdale today is home to around 150 residents. It gets its water from the Cosumnes River, and is therefore heavily dependent on winter snowpack for water, which is scarce in drought years. During the severe 2021 drought, water had to be delivered to Outingdale by truck.

Omo Ranch is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located 12.5 miles (20 km) south-southeast of Camino, at an elevation of 3612 feet (1101 m). Omo Ranch was once a logging town with a sawmill; the mill closed in 1973. Today, Omo Ranch is a rural residential area with few county services. Its population in 1986 was estimated at 150. A post office operated at Omo Ranch from 1888 to 1974. The name Omo comes from a Native American village.

Pleasant Valley is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located 3.5 miles (6 km) south of Camino, at an elevation of 2461 feet (750 m).A post office operated at Pleasant Valley from 1864 to 1917.

Newtown (formerly, New town) is a small unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California, United States. It is located 2.25 miles (3.6 km) south of Camino, at an elevation of 2447 feet (746 m). The ZIP code is 95667. The community is inside area code 530. A post office operated at Newtown from 1854 to 1912, with a closure in 1875.Notable residents have included John Augustus Raffetto, father of radio star Michael Raffetto. The Raffetto home is now a bed and breakfast and offers a room in the name of that family.

Fort John is a former settlement and mining location in Amador County, California, briefly populated in the 1850s. It was located on the South Fork of Dry Creek, 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Volcano. Fort John was named for John Stuart.A church and schoolhouse, reportedly the first in what would become Amador County, were built as early as 1850-51. The church was Methodist Episcopal and built by P.Y. Cool. The site thrived for about a year, but when the mining in Volcano proved better, the site was largely abandoned, with only minor activity after that. Some miners and residents remained later in the decade. An 1857 story said that Fort John "retains more of the signs and characteristics of old Forty-Nine times than any other place in this section of California. You behold the log-cabin, with canvass roof; the clapboard palace with mud chimney emitting the savory perfumes of burnt slapjacks and beans straight, not forgetting the bountiful supply of oro that lines the pockets of the 'honest miners.' Everyone is proficient in the mysteries of poker and old sledge ..."By 1881, a county history book reported only one resident there, who "seems to have staid to point out the site of the former town, and relate to occasional visitors the glories of the ancient days." Yet, the Mining Bureau still had the site listed as of 1954.
