The Geelong Racecourse is a major regional horse racing venue in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The current racecourse dates to 1908. The annual Geelong Cup is held at the course every October, as well as a number of other race meets through the year.

Geelong Racecourse (also known as Breakwater) is a disused railway station on the Geelong-Warrnambool railway line, in the Geelong suburb of Breakwater, Victoria, Australia. The station was located on a loop siding off the main line and was only used for special events at the nearby Geelong Racecourse. In 1910, the Geelong Racing Club, the Geelong Agricultural Society and the Hibernian Society together paid the Victorian Railways £1000 to have the station built. It was first used for the race meeting held on Wednesday 14 December of that year. The new station replaced one on the Queenscliff railway line, which was further from the racecourse. When it first opened, it was known as Geelong Showgrounds. It was renamed Geelong Racecourse in March 1915.By the start of 1918, an electric staff instrument was provided. In 1942, a dead-end extension at the down end of the station was abolished, and in 1956, the electric staff instrument and a switching facility was abolished. In 1962, all signals at the station were abolished.By December 2001, the loop was booked out of service, and was only booked back in service once a year, for the Geelong Cup. The last V/Line service to stop there was for the 2005 Geelong Cup. In 2005, the points from the main line were spiked, preventing trains from accessing the platform. In May 2007, a small timber hut, which was the only building on the platform, was demolished.In February 2011, the loop siding was disconnected from the main line, in conjunction with the re-sleepering of the main line. On 1 March of that year, the loop siding was abolished, effectively closing the station.

The Geelong Showgrounds in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, are the home of the Royal Geelong Show, an agricultural show held every year since 1855. The current showgrounds are located in the suburb of Breakwater. The focus of the Royal Geelong Show is the display of rural industry, including livestock and produce, with associated competitions and awards. The show also features amusement rides, a sideshow alley, and showbags, carry bags full of goodies produced by various commercial enterprises.

The Royal Geelong Show is an annual event held at the Geelong Showgrounds. Established in 1855, it is principally an agricultural event which focuses on the primary industries of Victoria, and rural lifestyle of many Victorians with events such as livestock judging, equestrian events, animal breeders competitions, produce competitions and wood chopping, although it also incorporates live entertainment, sporting events, food tasting, and fashion shows. A popular feature of the show is the sideshows which feature showrides, foodstalls, games of skill, and showbag stalls. Unlike its capital-city counterpart, the Royal Melbourne Show, over recent years the Royal Geelong Show has maintained its agricultural focus, with displays of many classes of animals, and has a carnival atmosphere. The show runs for four days, from Thursday through to Sunday, ending on the third Sunday in October. The Saturday is known as family day and usually involves many discounts and savings on showbags and rides. The show was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thomson is a small residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Thomson is triangular in shape and is bounded in the west by Breakwater Road, Carr Street and St Albans Road, in the north by Lomond Terrace, Godfrey and Ensby Streets, and in the east by Ormond and Boundary Roads. The East Geelong campus of The Gordon Institute of TAFE is located here, which also includes their student residence. Thomson was named after the early settler and the first mayor of Geelong Dr. Alexander Thomson. Thomson Post Office opened in 1950 and closed in 1992.Thomson has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Geelong & District Football League.

Whittington is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia, located 4 km south-east of the city centre. It is bordered by Boundary, Townsend and Coppards roads and by the former Geelong to Queenscliff railway line now known as the Bellarine Rail Trail. At the 2021 census, Whittington had a population of 3,990.A large part of Whittington is laid out in cul-de-sacs and courts to inhibit traffic and to help create numerous neighbourhood reserves. Whittington contains a shopping centre, a community centre, recreation reserves and the Whittington Primary School.

St. Albans Park is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, 6 km southeast from Geelong's city centre. It is bounded by Boundary Road (West), Coppards Road (East), Townsend Road (North) and the Barwon River (South). The suburbs that surround it are Whittington, Breakwater, Moolap and Marshall. The suburb extends around the St. Albans Homestead and stud, a historic house and accompanying stables. At the 2021 census, St. Albans Park had a population of 4,942.The suburb contains facilities such as an aged care village, church and many parks and reserves. Due to a significant increase in the number of young families moving to the suburb, a new kindergarten has been built in Homestead Drive. The suburb is close to the Bellarine Village and Newcomb Central shopping centres. St Albans Uniting Church in Wilsons Road was built in 1869 and dedicated in 1870. Its beginnings can be traced back to forerunner churches and church gatherings from the early 1840s. Forerunner churches and chapels were located in Lakes Road (now Woods Road) in Boronggoop (early name for St. Albans Park area bounded by Barwon River and extending north east in a 10,000-acre (40 km2) allotment - initially held by Caroline Elizabeth Newcomb - to Point Henry), in Hampstead, (early name for St. Albans Park area bounded by Woods / Coppards / Townsend / Wellington Roads), Regent Street and Chapel Street - the last two both in Whittington.

Marshall, formerly known as Marshalltown, is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 census, Marshall had a population of 2,299. The Marshall railway station is located in the suburb.

Francis Ormond (23 November 1827 – 5 May 1889) was a Scottish-born Australian pastoralist, member of the Parliament of Victoria and philanthropist in the areas of education and religion. Ormond is notable for founding the Working Men's College of Melbourne, which became the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), and for endowing the position of Ormond Professor of Music and donating the majority of funds towards the establishment of Ormond College, both at the University of Melbourne.

It sits adjacent to the Barwon River to the south and the Godfrey Hirst Pty Ltd carpet factory to the east. it is considered the premier athletics venue in the Geelong region, and its track is of national standard. Landy Field is located close to Kardinia Park. Landy Field was the venue for the 2016 Victoria Country Athletics Championships. The venue itself is open 24 hours. Landy Field is an associated venue of the Geelong Cross Country Club.
