Electoral district of Frankston South

The Division of Dunkley is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. The division is located south-east of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. It covers an area of approximately 152 square kilometres (59 sq mi) from Seaford in the north to Mount Eliza in the south and Langwarrin South in the southeast. The division is currently unrepresented following the death of the incumbent, Peta Murphy, on 4 December 2023.

The electoral district of Frankston is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It currently includes the suburbs of Frankston and Frankston South south east of Melbourne. The electorate was first created prior to the 1967 election and the Liberal Party held the seat until the Cain landslide of 1982. Population increases, however, meant the seat was abolished in 1985 and replaced by two electorates—Frankston South and Frankston North. In 1992, Frankston South was replaced mostly by a recreated Frankston. It became very safe for the Liberal Party, who won it with margins well over 10%. However the adjoining Labor-held seat of Frankston East—which had been created mostly out of the old Frankston North—was abolished prior to the 2002 election and much of its territory was incorporated into the seat. The old Frankston had a comfortably safe Liberal majority of 10.7 percent, but the redistribution reduced it to a quite marginal 3.2 percent. Labor's Alistair Harkness won the seat on a large swing, part of the Labor landslide at the 2002 election. He was returned at the 2006 election with a reduced majority, but was defeated in 2010 by Geoff Shaw.

Mount Erin Secondary College is a secondary school located in the suburb of Frankston, Victoria, Australia. It has approximately 930 students and is the only school running the SEAL (Select Entry Accelerated Learning) program in the area. Other schools that run the program include Lyndale Secondary College and Wellington Secondary College.

Frankston South is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 43 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Frankston local government area. Frankston South recorded a population of 18,801 at the 2021 census.Sharing the same postcode as Frankston (3199), it is a separate suburb.

Frankston High School (abbreviated as FHS) or simply Frankston High, is a government-funded co-educational high school, located in Frankston, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The school offers education for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Baxter is a township and rural locality beyond the Urban Growth Boundary in Victoria, Australia, 48 km (30 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Baxter recorded a population of 2,166 at the 2021 census.It is served by Baxter railway station on the Stony Point greater-metropolitan line. Originally named Baxter's Flat, Baxter was founded by pastoralist Benjamin Baxter, who lived in a property named Carrup Carrup - the Aboriginal name. The property still exists today on what is now the Frankston-Flinders Road, as does the original cottage he and his wife Martha lived in. Benjamin Baxter died in 1892 and his gravestone, found in the Frankston Cemetery, reads "Benjamin Baxter, late of h. m. 50th regiment. Died at Currup Currup 15 May 1892, aged 87. Also Martha, beloved wife of above 31 January 1906 age 94 years". It was at Baxter's Flat that the railway to Mornington and Stony Point (built in the late 1880s) separated. The station was called Mornington Junction before being changed to Baxter, however its role as a junction ended in the 1980s with the closure of the Mornington line. The early township grew around the railway station and a Post Office named Mornington Junction opened on 1 December 1892 (Baxter from 1918) Other historic cottages in the area include a primitive 1850s homestead called Eurutta (formerly Sage's Cottage), and a 1920s American-style residence called Mulberry Hill.Baxter Primary School was established in 1890.

Baxter railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Baxter, and it opened on 1 October 1888 as Mornington Junction. It was renamed Baxter on 6 May 1918.Langwarrin, a now demolished station on the Stony Point line, was located between Leawarra and Baxter.

The Peninsula campus of Monash University is Monash's third-largest campus, with close to 4000 students and almost 300 staff. The campus is located at the "Gateway to the Mornington Peninsula", in the Bayside suburb of Frankston. It continues to specialise in its historical strengths of health and early childhood education. Monash teaching in primary education, nursing and physiotherapy are all based at Peninsula Campus. The campus offers programs from undergraduate through to PhD level. It has research strengths in health and well-being, education and business. At any one time, there are around 100 higher degree by research students at Peninsula Campus.

The Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve is located in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia and occupies approximately 27 hectares of land. There are entrances to the reserve located on Allison Road, Canadian Bay Road, Two Bays Road and Station Street near the Moorooduc Railway Station.

Leawarra railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Frankston, and it opened on 30 November 1959 as Rail Motor Stopping Place No. 16. It was renamed Leawarra in 1962.The station serves the nearby Peninsula Campus of Monash University.

Frankston Hospital (officially Frankston Public Hospital) is a 454-bed public hospital located in the Melbourne suburb of Frankston in Victoria, Australia. It opened as the Frankston Community Hospital on 30 November 1941.It is the largest provider of general and speciality health care for Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula, and is the region's chief provider of acute secondary and tertiary medical and surgical services.The hospital has specialisations in mental health, maternity (midwifery) and pediatrics. It also has one of the busiest emergency departments in Victoria with 49 beds and around 63,000 presentations a year. The department was upgraded in 2015 at a cost of A$81 million.It is one of two hospitals in the Peninsula Health network, the second being Rosebud Hospital, which together support the network's smaller specialist campuses for community health, dentistry, physical and psychiatric rehabilitation, aged (elderly) and palliative care in Frankston, Hastings, Mornington, Mount Eliza and Rosebud.
