Baxter is a township and rural locality beyond the Urban Growth Boundary in Victoria, Australia, 48 km (30 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Baxter recorded a population of 2,166 at the 2021 census.It is served by Baxter railway station on the Stony Point greater-metropolitan line. Originally named Baxter's Flat, Baxter was founded by pastoralist Benjamin Baxter, who lived in a property named Carrup Carrup - the Aboriginal name. The property still exists today on what is now the Frankston-Flinders Road, as does the original cottage he and his wife Martha lived in. Benjamin Baxter died in 1892 and his gravestone, found in the Frankston Cemetery, reads "Benjamin Baxter, late of h. m. 50th regiment. Died at Currup Currup 15 May 1892, aged 87. Also Martha, beloved wife of above 31 January 1906 age 94 years". It was at Baxter's Flat that the railway to Mornington and Stony Point (built in the late 1880s) separated. The station was called Mornington Junction before being changed to Baxter, however its role as a junction ended in the 1980s with the closure of the Mornington line. The early township grew around the railway station and a Post Office named Mornington Junction opened on 1 December 1892 (Baxter from 1918) Other historic cottages in the area include a primitive 1850s homestead called Eurutta (formerly Sage's Cottage), and a 1920s American-style residence called Mulberry Hill.Baxter Primary School was established in 1890.

Mulberry Hill is a heritage-listed home in Langwarrin South, Victoria, Australia. It was the home of the writer Joan Lindsay and her husband Sir Daryl Lindsay from 1926 to 1984. Joan Lindsay left the house to the National Trust when she died. It is still owned by the National Trust and is open to the public. It is also heritage-listed at the federal and state level.

Mount Erin Secondary College is a secondary school located in the suburb of Frankston, Victoria, Australia. It has approximately 930 students and is the only school running the SEAL (Select Entry Accelerated Learning) program in the area. It was formed in 1985 when population increases in the Frankston area saw the Electoral district of Frankston divided into Frankston North and Frankston South. Both were abolished in 1992, with Frankston South mostly replaced by a recreated Frankston.

Its senior campus, "Woodleigh" (38°11′31″S 145°10′30″E), is located in Langwarrin South.

Langwarrin was a railway station on the Stony Point line, in Victoria, Australia. It opened in 1888, to serve the newly established Langwarrin Military Reserve. The station operated until 1981, and was closed at the same time as the section of the Stony Point line, between the Long Island Junction and Stony Point railway station. Although the line reopened in 1983, Langwarrin station remained closed. Most traces of the station were removed by 1988, and all that remains of the station is the platform mound, located just off McClelland Drive, in between Tea-Tree Track and the Centre Break track, in the Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve. Public Transport Victoria announced in 2014 that it was investigating the possibility of reinstating a station at Langwarrin, and sought community feedback on three possible station sites, one of which is the location of the former 1888-1981 station.In 2018, the federal government announced $228 million towards electrifying and duplicating the line between Frankston-Baxter, a project which would incorporate extending metro rail from Frankston to Langwarrin, building a new Langwarrin railway station, and building associated park-and-ride for 1000+ cars just off Peninsula Link and next to the station.

The Division of Dunkley is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. The division is located south-east of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. It covers an area of approximately 152 square kilometres (59 sq mi) from Seaford in the north to Mount Eliza in the south and Langwarrin South in the southeast. The division is currently unrepresented following the death of the incumbent, Peta Murphy, on 4 December 2023.

The electoral district of Frankston is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It currently includes the suburbs of Frankston and Frankston South south east of Melbourne. The electorate was first created prior to the 1967 election and the Liberal Party held the seat until the Cain landslide of 1982. Population increases, however, meant the seat was abolished in 1985 and replaced by two electorates—Frankston South and Frankston North. In 1992, Frankston South was replaced mostly by a recreated Frankston. It became very safe for the Liberal Party, who won it with margins well over 10%. However the adjoining Labor-held seat of Frankston East—which had been created mostly out of the old Frankston North—was abolished prior to the 2002 election and much of its territory was incorporated into the seat. The old Frankston had a comfortably safe Liberal majority of 10.7 percent, but the redistribution reduced it to a quite marginal 3.2 percent. Labor's Alistair Harkness won the seat on a large swing, part of the Labor landslide at the 2002 election. He was returned at the 2006 election with a reduced majority, but was defeated in 2010 by Geoff Shaw.

St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital is a 60-bed hospital providing specialist inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care.Located in Frankston, Victoria, the facility is a specialist rehabilitation hospital, providing neurological, orthopedic, cardiac and reconditioning programs. The hospital was built in 1976 and opened the following year as Peninsula Private Hospital. It then relocated to a new site in 1999 and shortly after became the Nepean Rehabilitation Hospital. The facility was acquired by St John of God Health Care in March 2004 and renamed St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital in 2012.The hospital made global news in 2009 for its work with Russell McPhee, a man who had been paralysed for 20 years. After undertaking a course of botulinum toxin injections – or botox – McPhee was reportedly able to walk again.St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital is a division of St John of God Health Care.
