Rice Hall (Ithaca, New York)

Fernow Hall is an early twentieth century Cornell University building, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It currently houses the Department of Natural Resources. It is named in honor of Bernhard Fernow, who was the only Dean during the five-year history of the New York State College of Forestry at Cornell. It was designed by Green & Wicks in the Colonial Revival style and constructed in 1915.

Charles F. Berman Field is a multi-use stadium in Ithaca, New York on the campus of Cornell University. It is used for soccer and track and field competitions. It is located on a portion of the upper alumni fields. Constructed in 2000, the 1,000 seat stadium is named in honor of former Cornell soccer player Charles F. Berman who was captain of the 1948 Cornell soccer team and a member of the Quill and Dagger society. Berman perished in an airplane crash in Jamaica en route to Colombia on January 21, 1960.

The Cornell Botanic Gardens is a botanical garden located adjacent to the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York. The Botanic Gardens proper consist of 25 acres (10 ha) of botanical gardens and 150 acres (61 ha) of the F. R. Newman Arboretum. The greater Botanic Gardens includes 40 different nature areas around Cornell and Ithaca, covering 4,300 acres (1,700 ha). The origin of the Botanic Gardens dates back to Cornell's beginning in the mid-19th century and are part of the university's longtime interest in agriculture, forestry, and the natural sciences. The Botanic Gardens saw a major planting effort during the 1930s and assumed the name Cornell Plantations in 1944. Gardens and facilities have continually expanded, including a construction program at the start of the 21st century. The Botanic Gardens also maintains four gardens on Cornell's central campus. The Botanic Gardens offers three courses for academic credit, are used as a resource by other classes, host a number of informal lectures and tours, and have played a part in many scholarly papers. As of 2009, the Botanic Gardens had a $2.9 million annual operating budget. The name was changed to the current form in 2016. The gardens specialize in trees and shrubs native to New York State. The themed herb garden is especially noted. The Botanic Gardens have been the subject of several books and films over the years, are open daily without charge, and have been recommended as a visitation site by a number of travel books and newspaper travel sections.

Wing Hall is a building on the campus of Cornell University that was built during 1912–1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Wing Hall was designed by architect E.B. Green, himself a Cornell alumnus, of Buffalo architectural firm Green & Wicks. Along with Fernow Hall and Caldwell Hall, designed by the same firm, it was funded by a New York State appropriation in 1912. It is a three-story building. Its main entrance is centered in its long elevation, with a central bay projecting slightly from flanking walls. It has a two-story three-bay-wide Ionic-columned portico, with pilasters defining the bays of the third story above.It was built for teaching of animal husbandry, and was located near recently built university barns, about one-half mile east of the original college buildings. Its NRHP nomination describes that "It combined extensive practical laboratory space with a library 'containing the herd and flock books of different breeds' and an auditorium into which live animals could be brought.": 11 

Newman Arena is a 4,473-seat multi-purpose arena at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, located in Bartels Hall, which is adjacent to Lynah Rink. It is home to the Cornell Big Red basketball and volleyball teams. Its also holds the home of Cornell wrestling for larger events. It opened in January 1990, replacing Barton Hall, which was remodeled to become a full-time indoor track venue. It was named for the late F.R. Newman, Class of 1912, a major benefactor to the university.

The Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) is a particle accelerator facility located in Wilson Laboratory on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY. CLASSE formed from the merger of the Cornell High-Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) and the Laboratory for Elementary-Particle Physics (LEPP) in July 2006. Ritchie Patterson is the Director of CLASSE. The Wilson Synchrotron Lab, which houses both the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) and CHESS, is named after Robert R. Wilson, known for his work as a group leader in the Manhattan Project, for being the first director of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and for contributing to the design of CESR.

Beebe Lake is a reservoir in Ithaca, New York, located on the campus of Cornell University.

Lynah Rink (pronounced LIE-nuh) is a 4,267-seat hockey arena at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, that opened in 1957. Named after James Lynah, Class of 1905, who was the director of Cornell athletics from 1935 to 1943, it is home to the Big Red men's and women's ice hockey teams. Lynah has been home to hockey greats such as Ken Dryden, Joe Nieuwendyk, Matt Moulson, Digit Murphy, and Olympic Gold Medalists Rebecca Johnston and Brianne Jenner.

Tompkins County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 105,740. The county seat is Ithaca. The name is in honor of Daniel D. Tompkins, who served as Governor of New York and Vice President of the United States. Tompkins County comprises the Ithaca, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to Cornell University, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College.

East Roberts Hall was a building on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, which opened on Wednesday, October 10, 1906. Originally just referred to as the Dairy Building, it was not called East Roberts Hall until 1923 when other departments moved in and the Dairy Department moved out and into the new Dairy Building. East Roberts Hall was demolished along with Roberts and Stone Halls ca 1987-1988.It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Carl Sagan Institute: Pale Blue Dot and Beyond was founded in 2014 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York to further the search for habitable planets and moons in and outside the Solar System. It is focused on the characterization of exoplanets and the instruments to search for signs of life in the universe. The founder and current director of the institute is astronomer Lisa Kaltenegger. The institute, inaugurated in 2014 and renamed on 9 May 2015, collaborates with international institutions on fields such as astrophysics, engineering, earth and atmospheric science, geology and biology with the goal of taking an interdisciplinary approach to the search for life elsewhere in the universe and of the origin of life on Earth.Carl Sagan was a faculty member at Cornell University beginning in 1968. He was the David Duncan Professor of Astronomy and Space Sciences and director of the Laboratory for Planetary Studies there until his death in 1996.

The Cornell 100+ MPG Team (Formerly Cornell AXP) was the first officially registered university team competing in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize Competition. The group was made up of over 70 undergraduate and graduate students from six of Cornell University’s seven colleges including the College of Engineering, the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, the College of Human Ecology, and the Johnson Graduate School of Management.The multi-disciplinary group was organized into several teams, including Electrical Components, Mechanical Components, Structures, Business Administration, Design, and Information Management. These groups utilized a systems engineering approach to design an automobile that would push the limits of efficiency, feature a distinctive and unique aesthetic, and be commercially viable in the market.The goal of the team was to win the competition and to provide the world with a state-of-the-art automobile that would help reduce global non-renewable power consumption and harmful emissions. However, after successfully completing the first stages of the shakedown in May, the vehicle experienced multiple electronics failures during the endurance portion. The team decided to withdraw from the competition for safety reasons, since they did not have the time and resources to fully diagnose the problem.
