West Park is an area of Darlington, in County Durham, England. The area covers 49 hectares (121 acres) of land,It consists of: 37 hectare West Park Village: at least 700 residential properties, a mix of commercial properties, and other facilities. 12 hectare West Park Nature Reserve: the first new park to be created in Darlington in the last 100 years. A hospital West Park Hospital, opened 2004. A school, 'West Park Academy', opened 2005.The West Park development has won several national awards, including a Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Sustainable Communities Award, and a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Gold Award For Regeneration.

Branksome is a suburb of Darlington in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the north-west of the town, close to Mowden, Cockerton, West Park and Faverdale. It is largely made up from council owned properties and service buildings started in the late 1940s through to the 1970s. Although some of the council built houses and flats have been sold to tenants since the 1980s under the government 'right to buy' scheme, many are still retained as rented properties by the Housing Department of Darlington Borough Council (unitary authority). This management situation was consulted on in 2003-04 and the Housing Dept. retained management after consultations with tenants throughout the borough who expressed a desire to remain under local authority management rather than the alternatives. It lies in the Cockerton West Ward of the Darlington Borough and elects two councillors every four years. Adjacent to Branksome on the Northern side lies the old Darlington to Barnard Castle railway station . Although there is little evidence of this now having primarily been reclaimed by farmers. When Branksome was first built it was possible to follow the railway line all the way to Barnard Castle.

Wyvern Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in the Branksome area of Darlington, County Durham, England. It schools pupils aged 11 to 16, and is the default school for most residents living in the Branksome/Faverdale/Cockerton areas of Darlington. The school was originally known as Branksome Comprehensive School until renamed the Darlington School of Maths and Science in 2011.

High Grange is an area of Faverdale on the north western edge of Darlington, Durham, England. The mayor of High Grange is Dave Johnson who has clamped down on vandalism in the area by introducing a "Mayor tax" to residents. The area itself is a large, sought after housing estate, consisting mainly of newly built detached and semi detached houses. The estate consists of five medium-sized green fields, which children are often seen using to play on. The estate is said to be 'family friendly'. It contains one road which continues around the whole of the estate with cul-de-sacs branching off it. The estate is roughly square-shaped from a birds eye perspective. There are four entrances of which the estate can be entered, three of which can only be used by pedestrians. Some of the names of the streets are named after places in the Midlands, for example, Charnwood Drive is named after the borough in Leicestershire and Alverton Drive after the Nottinghamshire village.

Mowden is an area of west Darlington in the Borough of Darlington, County Durham, England. Nearby areas include Hummersknott to the south, Branksome to the north and Cockerton to the north-east. Houses here date back to the 1960s. The area has a pre-school, primary school, a row shops and two local pubs, the Mowden and the Model T.

Faverdale is a suburb of Darlington in County Durham, England. It is situated in the north west of Darlington, north of Cockerton. The area was rural until the 20th century, a large wagon works was established in the 1920s, with housing development starting at the same time. The wagon works closed in the 1960s and further industrial and commercial development took place expanding from the brownfield site. As of 2012 the area has a mixture of industrial, residential and rural land use.

Cockerton is an area in the north-west of Darlington in the borough of Darlington, County Durham, England. The Cocker Beck flows through the area and empties into the River Skerne via The Denes, an area and string of valleyed parks donated for the town in the early 20th century. It is also near Mowden, Branksome, West Park and Faverdale.

Archdeacon Newton is a hamlet and rural parish of several farms in the borough of Darlington and the ceremonial county of County Durham, in England. The population taken at the 2011 Census was less than 100. Details are maintained in the parish of Walworth. It is associated with an abandoned village site under pasture and farm buildings, and situated a short distance to the north-west of Darlington. The lost settlement was in existence by the early 15th century, and remained inhabited at least until the 1890s. There was a moated manor house at the southern end, part of which remains as the Old Hall, now a barn. At the north end of the site was the chapel, and in the middle were tofts and enclosures, with a ridge and furrow field and a trackway leading to the south-east. The site of the abandoned village is now a scheduled monument and the Old Hall is a listed building.

Carmel College (formerly Carmel RC College) is a secondary school on The Headlands in Hummersknott, Darlington, England. It also has a sixth form, Carmel College Sixth Form admitting about 150 students each year. Following an OFSTED inspection in 2013, Carmel was graded as outstanding in all categories. It is part of the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust (formerly Carmel Education Trust) which includes 35 schools in the North East Region. The current principal is Melanie Kane.

Hummersknott is an area in the western end of Darlington, County Durham England. It is a ward in the unitary authority of Darlington. It consists of mainly post-war houses, and is closely linked to Mowden. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 Census was 3,478.The area of Hummersknott is generally regarded as the area around Hummersknott School and up to Carmel Road North. There is also a Victorian cemetery and a Catholic secondary school, Carmel RC College, which also has a sixth form.
