Newchurch and Merthyr is a community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales including the villages of Newchurch (Welsh: Eglwysnewydd) and Merthyr. The community population at the 2011 census was 676.The community is bordered by the communities of: Cynwyl Elfed; Bronwydd; Carmarthen; Llangynog; St Clears; Meidrim; and Abernant, all being in Carmarthenshire. In May 2022 the community was transferred from the Cynwyl Elfed electoral ward to the county ward of Trelech. The Trellech ward elects one councillor to Carmarthenshire County Council.

Danycoed Halt, which is Welsh for below the trees, was built by the Gwili Railway in the late 1990s and opened in 2001. It is the current northern terminus of the line, but may become redundant when the preserved railway extends over a mile northwards into the nearby Conwyl station site and then further on up to Llanpumpsaint Station some 2+1⁄2 miles further on. The halt (along with a nearby "Llwyfan Cerrig" station) did not exist in British Railways days and currently features a four-coach platform, a typical GWR storage hut and other station furniture such as lamp posts and benches. The track layout consists of a simple "run-round" loop (designed to allow the locomotive to run around and couple up to the carriages for the return journey) with a pair of points controlled by a "single throw" lever at the northern end, and a pair controlled by a two-lever ground frame locked by a key on the train staff at the southern end. Just beyond the north end of the platform, a wrought iron girder bridge crosses the River Gwili. The bridge requires repair and thus inhibits immediate progress into the site of "Conwyl Elfed" station, (Just three bridges across the River Gwili).

Conwil was a railway station near the village of Cynwyl Elfed in Carmarthenshire, Wales, serving the hamlet and the rural locale. It was once a thriving railway station, transporting both passenger traffic and locally produced goods, including wool, livestock, milk and timber.

Llwyfan Cerrig is a heritage railway station on the preserved Gwili Railway. The station (along with a nearby Danycoed halt) previously did not exist before the closure of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line in 1965 and was constructed and later opened in 1988 by the Gwili Railway. The name translates to English as "platform [of] stone". The station building has been relocated from Felinfach on the Aberaeron branch, while the signal box is a former crossing keeper's hut from Crundale, Pembrokeshire. The station is in close proximity to the River Gwili and is adjacent to the site of an old quarry. A travelling post office and miniature railway are two additional attractions located at the station for visitors.

The Cynwyl Elfed television relay station is sited on high ground to the east of the village of Cynwyl Elfed to the north of Carmarthen. It was originally built in mid 1989 as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue colour television covering the village of Cynwyl Elfed and the surrounding community. It consists of a 14 m self-supporting lattice steel mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 115 m above sea level. The transmissions are beamed west to cover the target. The Cynwyl Elfed transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. Cynwyl Elfed transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Preseli about 20 km to the west. When it came, the digital switchover process for Cynwyl Elfed duplicated the timing at Preseli with the first stage taking place on 19 August 2009 and with the second stage being completed on 16 September 2009. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 2 W each.

Elim Independent Chapel is an independent chapel in the town of Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The building dates from 1849 and is located about one mile north of Lime Grove House, Carmarthen. The chapel was designated a Grade II listed building on 19 May 1981.

Bronwydd is a village and community in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales, situated about three miles north of Carmarthen in the valley of the River Gwili. Bronwydd community comprises the village of Bronwydd Arms, a couple of nearby hamlets and a number of working farms in the surrounding area. In Census 2011, it had a population of 564.Bronwydd Arms railway station is a halt on the Gwili Railway. Cwmgwili mansion, home to a prominent local family, the Philipps, has 17th century features and is a grade II* listed building.Bronwydd Arms was one of six broadband "not-spots" in Wales - communities without high-speed internet access. In December 2008, the Welsh Assembly Government and BT confirmed that coverage in these areas would be upgraded in April 2009.The community is bordered by the communities of: Llanpumsaint; Llanllawddog; Abergwili; Carmarthen; Newchurch and Merthyr; and Cynwyl Elfed, all being in Carmarthenshire.

It was originally built in mid 1989 as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue colour television covering the village of Bronwydd Arms and the surrounding community. It consists of a 14 m wooden telegraph pole standing on a hillside which is itself about 85 m above sea level. The transmissions are beamed east to cover the target. The Bronwydd Arms transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. Bronwydd Arms transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Carmel about 30 km to the southeast. When it came, the digital switchover process for Bronwydd Arms duplicated the timing at Carmel with the first stage taking place on 26 August 2009 and with the second stage being completed on 23 September 2009. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 2 W each.

Cynwyl Elfed (; sometimes Conwyl and formerly anglicised as Conwil Elvet or Conwil in Elvet) is a village and community in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. The community includes the villages of Cynwyl Elfed, Blaenycoed and Cwmduad. It is situated about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Carmarthen and had a population of 953 in 2001, increasing to 1,044 at the 2011 Census.The area around the village has yielded a significant number of Roman artefacts, including a statue of Diana. It was the most important centre of the commote of Elfed in the Middle Ages. Cynwyl Elfed transmitting station stands on high ground to the north of the village.

Carmarthen Cemetery Chapel is a cemetery chapel in the town of Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The building dates from 1855 and is located at 6, Russell Terrace, Carmarthen. It was proposed in 1853 that two chapels should be built for the cemetery in Russell Terrace, Carmarthen, one for the burial of Anglicans and the other for Nonconformists. Tenders were received from three persons, James Wilson, R.K. Penson and W.W. Jenkins. At first Penson's bid was chosen, but after reconsideration, it was rejected and Jenkins received the contract. The two chapels were built as well as walls and entrance gates. Each chapel building was built of rubble stone, with ashlar dressings, and gabled roofs of slate and simple interiors. Bishop Thirlwall performed the opening ceremony in 1856, and afterwards the churchyard of St Peter's Church was closed to new burials. Since then, one of the chapels has been demolished, and the entrance gates have also gone.The chapel was designated as a Grade II listed building on 19 May 1981, being an example of a fine "mid C19 cemetery chapel in Gothic style".

Bronwydd Arms railway station, originally a stop on the now closed Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line, is the headquarters of the preserved Gwili Railway. The station first opened on 3 September 1860 as part of the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway and closed to passengers on 22 February 1965. Following closure, the station building and signal box were demolished, leaving behind only a bare platform. In 1978, the Gwili Railway re-opened the station and gradually rebuilt the station building and signal box using redundant buildings recovered from the Heart of Wales Line. The station building was constructed from Llandovery signal box, clad with components from Ammanford (GWR) railway station, while the signal box from Llandybie was also recovered and is now used as the 'new' Bronwydd Arms signal box. A third box from central Wales, Ffairfach, is also in use as a museum.Other smaller items have been incorporated into the rebuilt station, such as Great Western Railway lamp posts and benches, a parcels shed and a water tower, recovered from Barry Docks in 1979. The station features a level crossing with wooden gates at the south end where the railway crosses the B4301 road. Passenger trains now currently use the crossing which had been brought into use as part of the railway's extension to Abergwili Junction. In 2010 the level crossing was renewed to enable the original two-gate system to be re-instated in GWR style, thus re-creating another feature of the original station. The crossing and its gates were completed by August 2011. Work had been concentrated on the extension of the line to Abergwili Junction which later re-opened in July 2017.
