Farningham Road railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the villages of Farningham, Sutton-at-Hone, Horton Kirby and South Darenth, Kent. It is 20 miles 41 chains (33.0 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Swanley and Longfield. The station and all trains that call are operated by Southeastern. The ticket office, on the 'up' (London-bound) side, is situated in the substantial station building. This is staffed only during part of the day; at other times a PERTIS passenger-operated ticket machine issues permits to travel, which are exchanged on-train or at staffed stations for travel tickets, and is located on the 'down' (country-bound) platform. The railway line was electrified as part of the Southern Railway's "Maidstone & Gillingham Electrification" scheme of July 1939. The station was previously named Farningham Road & Sutton-at-Hone.

Horton Kirby and South Darenth, formerly just Horton Kirby is a civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. The parish is located in the River Darent valley between Sevenoaks town and Dartford: it consists of the two villages of Horton Kirby and South Darenth. On 1 April 1979 the parish was renamed from "Horton Kirby" to "Horton Kirby & South Darenth".Horton Kirby Paper Mills in South Darenth were founded by Henry Hall at the beginning of the 19th century. Since June 2003, the mills have ceased processing paper.

Farningham Wood is a 74.2-hectare (183-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Swanley in Kent. It is also a Local Nature Reserve. It is owned and managed by Sevenoaks District Council and Farningham Parish Council.This wood has a variety of soil conditions, resulting in diverse ground flora and invertebrates, some of which are typical ancient woodland. Ponds in the middle support several species of amphibian, and the nationally rare hoverfly Volucella inanis has been recorded on the site.There is access from Calfstock Lane.

St John's Jerusalem or Sutton-at-Hone Preceptory is a National Trust property at Sutton-at-Hone, Kent, England which includes the 13th century chapel of the Knights Hospitaller and a garden moated by the River Darent. The chapel and garden are open to the public.

Horton Kirby Boys Home also known as Home for Little Boys was a private railway station opened in 1870 by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway to serve "Home for Little Boys", a cottage homes village in Horton Kirby, which was opened in 1867. It was sited between Farningham Road and Longfield stations on the Chatham Main Line. It only had a 'down' platform (direction Longfield) and there was no 'up' platform. The station closed by 1930 and was demolished in 1939.

Eynsford Castle is a ruined medieval fortification in Eynsford, Kent. Built on the site of an earlier Anglo-Saxon stone burh, the castle was constructed by William de Enysford, probably between 1085 and 1087, to protect the lands of Lanfranc, the Archbishop of Canterbury, from Odo, the Bishop of Bayeux. It comprised an inner and an outer bailey, the former protected by a stone curtain wall. In 1130 the defences were improved, and a large stone hall built in the inner bailey. The de Enysford family held the castle until their male line died out in 1261, when it was divided equally between the Heringaud and de Criol families. A royal judge, William Inge, purchased half of the castle in 1307, and arguments ensued between him and his co-owner, Nicholas de Criol, who ransacked Eynsford in 1312. The castle was never reoccupied and fell into ruins, and in the 18th century it was used to hold hunting kennels and stables. The ruins began to be restored after 1897, work intensifying after 1948 when the Ministry of Works took over the running of the castle. In the 21st century, Eynsford Castle is managed by English Heritage and is open to visitors.

Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley is a civil parish within the Borough of Dartford in Kent, England. It lies to the south of the urban part of the Borough, and consists of the two settlements named, both to the west of the River Darent, one of the parish boundaries. The M25 motorway divides them. It has a population of 4,133, increasing to 4,230 at the 2011 Census.

Eynsford ( or ) is a village and civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. It is located 3.3 miles (5 km) south east of Swanley, 7 miles (11 km) south of Dartford. The village including its farmland and woods occupies the northern half of the triangle formed by three motorways in west Kent barring its very northernmost part which is Farningham. This area is undulating and has a large minority of woodland. In the south of the parish is Lullingstone, much of which was owned for many centuries by the large, late medieval Lullingstone Castle, whereas other parts of the village were owned by Eynsford Castle, which is older. Well before the founding of the Kingdom of England, Lullingstone Roman villa was founded in this part of the parish, which is open to the public today. The Darent Valley Path takes in a cross-section of the area.
