Little Boston is a community in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located on the east side of Port Gamble, an inlet or bay of Hood Canal, and is direct across the bay from the unincorporated community of Port Gamble. Little Boston is within the Port Gamble Indian Reservation, which houses the Port Gamble band of the S'Klallam tribe. The Port Gamble S'Klallam Reservation consists of 1,340 acres (5 km2) of land held in trust by the federal government. There is no private land ownership on the reservation. Most of the land is in the forest with residential, business, and office areas. The land is listed by the U.S. Census Bureau as the Port Gamble Tribal Community census-designated place, with a population of 916 as of the 2010 census.The reservation receives approximately 20 inches (510 mm) of rain per year due to its location in the Olympic Mountain rain shadow. The reservation lands rise from the beach to gently rolling terrain. Port Gamble Bay is the last bay in Kitsap County that is still open for commercial shellfish harvest. The Tribe has a hatchery on Middle Creek. Bear, deer, and other wildlife also live on the reservation.

Kingston High School is a secondary school located in Kingston, Washington. It is one of two secondary schools in the North Kitsap School District. KHS educates grades 9–12. The school is located on the same site as the North Kitsap school bus barn and Spectrum Community School.

Spectrum Community School was an alternative high school in Kingston, Washington, United States. It was a part of the North Kitsap School District. The school had been running for over 20 years, and earned two awards of Special Merit from the Grammy Foundation in Los Angeles. The school was designed for students searching for a nontraditional learning environment that embraced diversity, inclusion, different learning styles and preferences, tools, and a student empowered curriculum. The school sponsored exchange programs with Russia and Mexico. The school promoted social responsibility, respect for cultural diversity and appreciation for lifelong learning, and was founded with the support of North Kitsap School District and Chris Wendelyn in 1986. Courses met all requirements for a formal STEM education and graduation with a high school diploma. Course design enabled students to integrate areas of interest to strengthen engagement and learning in critical areas of study. School leadership and faculty engaged local communities, traditions, and partnerships to strengthen student inclusion, engagement, and respect. Courses also supported onsite and distance learning objectives. Spectrum Community School was located on the same campus as the future Kingston High School.

The Battle of Port Gamble was an isolated engagement between the United States and the Tlingit on 21 November 1856. It occurred during, but was not a part of, the Yakima War. Though a minor incident, it is historically notable for the first U.S. Navy battle death in the Pacific Ocean.

Port Gamble is an unincorporated community on the northwestern shore of the Kitsap Peninsula in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is also a small, eponymous bay, along which the community lies, near the entrance to Hood Canal. The unincorporated communities of Port Gamble and Little Boston, part of Kitsap County, lie on the west and the east side, respectively, of the mouth of this bay. The Port Gamble Historic District, a U.S. National Historic Landmark, covers one of the nation's best-preserved western lumber towns. The community of Port Gamble has a wide range of shops from antiques to a tea shop to an old-fashioned general store. It is a popular tourist destination, due to its location near Bremerton, Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, and Seattle. Port Gamble is home to the grave of Gustave Englebrecht, the first U.S. Navy sailor to die in the Pacific.

Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park is a 3,493-acre (1,414 ha) county park founded in 2014, and is the largest in Kitsap County, Washington. It contains 60 miles (97 km) of trails.The park property was acquired from Pope Resources/Olympic Resource Management, a forestry company, partly in direct purchases by the county government, and partly by the Forterra land conservation non-profit corporation who raised funds through individual donations and grants.Olympic Resource Management's Olympic Property Group proposed a public trail system in its Port Gamble property c. 2007. Invoking the Olmsted Brothers park planning, local groups envisioned a regional "String of Pearls" trail plan c. 2011 in the Pacific Northwest linking water trails linking the Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula with the Kitsap Peninsula. A proposed system, the Sound to Olympics Trail, would allow one to cross Washington State by foot on a continuous trail system from the Pacific Ocean to the Idaho border. Kitsap County plans to embody a portion of the Sound to Olympics Trail in the Port Gamble Forest.

Kingston (formerly Appletree Cove) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,099 at the 2010 census. Kingston is along the shores of Appletree Cove and Puget Sound, and is home to a major Washington State Ferry terminal linking it to Edmonds.

Eglon is an unincorporated community in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The town has a community center, a church, a cemetery, a boat launch, a beach, and a picnic area. Its Fire Protection services are provided by North Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

Appletree Cove is a bay and estuary of Puget Sound on the Kitsap Peninsula in the U.S. state of Washington. The cove is fed by Carpenter Creek; its estuary is a tidal flood zone that fills and empties at high and low tides. Appletree Cove was named "from the numbers of that tree which were in blossom around its shores" by Charles Wilkes who surveyed the area on April 9, 1841, on the Wilkes expedition. Reportedly these Pacific crabapple trees were cleared by Benjamin Bannister after settling at the bay in 1874. Another source says Wilkes mistook flowering dogwoods for apple trees.Appletree Cove is the site of the Kingston ferry terminal for the Washington State Ferries. Appletree Cove is also the former name of the town of Kingston, Washington which is to the north and west of the cove. To the south is an area known by the locals as "Jefferson Beach".

Indianola is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States, located on the north shore of Port Madison on the Port Madison Indian Reservation, home of the Suquamish Indian Tribe. The population was 3,500 at the 2010 census. It was originally established as a summer community and was a stop for Mosquito Fleet ferries until the 1950s.

The Hood Canal Bridge (officially William A. Bugge Bridge) is a floating bridge in the northwest United States, located in western Washington. It carries State Route 104 across Hood Canal in Puget Sound and connects the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas. At 7,869 feet (1.490 mi; 2.398 km) in length (floating portion 6,521 feet (1.235 mi; 1.988 km)), it is the longest floating bridge in the world located in a saltwater tidal basin, and the third longest floating bridge overall. It opened in 1961 and was the second concrete floating bridge constructed in Washington. Since that time, it has become a vital link for local residents, freight haulers, commuters, and recreational travelers. The convenience it provides has had a major impact on economic development, especially in eastern Jefferson County.The bridge is officially named after William A. Bugge (1900–1992), the director of the Department of Highways from 1949 to 1963, who was a leader in the planning and construction of the bridge.

The Suquamish Indian Tribe of the Port Madison Reservation is a federally recognized tribe and Indian reservation in the U.S. state of Washington. The tribe includes Suquamish, Duwamish, and Sammamish peoples, all Lushootseed-speaking Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest, and was a signatory to the Treaty of Point Elliott of 1855. They had 950 enrolled tribal citizens in 2012.
