Columbia High School (East Greenbush, New York)

East Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of Albany. The population was 16,473 at the 2010 census. The word Greenbush is derived from the Dutch het groen bosch, referring to the pine woods that originally covered the land. The first settlement of the land now known as East Greenbush was made by tenants under patroon Kiliaen van Rensselaer circa 1630. The town was established in 1855 as Clinton, and was renamed in 1858. It is mostly suburban along its major highways and rural in the southwestern and northeastern corners. Interstate 90 traverses the town. It contains the western (or southern) terminus of US Route 4 and the northern terminus of NY Route 9J; as well as US Route 9 and US Route 20. The latter run concurrently, under the name Columbia Turnpike, which is often referred to by the locals as "9 and 20."

New York State Route 915E (NY 915E) is an unsigned reference route designation for Third Avenue Extension in East Greenbush, located in Rensselaer County, New York, in the United States. The east–west highway extends for 1.67 miles (2.69 km) from an intersection with NY 151 east of the Rensselaer city limits to a junction with U.S. Route 4 (US 4) south of the hamlet of Defreestville. NY 915E was designated as New York State Route 381 from the late 1930s to 1962 and part of NY 43 from that time to the late 1990s, when it gained its current designation.

John Evert Van Alen House is a historic home located at Defreestville in Rensselaer County, New York. The house was built between 1793 and 1794 and is a two-story, five-bay wide, room and a half deep, frame dwelling with a two-story, three-bay wide addition in the Federal style. The addition dates to about 1840–1854. It is sheathed in clapboards and is topped by a gable roof. Also on the property is a contributing L-shaped barn and the Van Alen family burial ground. The original owner John Evert Van Alen served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1793 to 1799.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

East Greenbush is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 4,487 at the 2010 census. East Greenbush is mostly within the southern part of the town of East Greenbush, but a small section of the community extends southward into the town of Schodack. U.S. Routes 9 and 20 pass through the community, and the western end of U.S. Route 4 begins immediately north of the community.

Hampton Manor is a suburb of the cities of Rensselaer and Albany. Many of the homes built in Hampton Manor were kit houses from Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Ward.

Sharpe Homestead and Cemetery is a historic home and cemetery located at Defreestville in Rensselaer County, New York. The house was built about 1740 and is a 1+1⁄2-story rectangular frame dwelling, 20 feet by 40 feet, topped by a steeply pitched gable roof covered with standing seam metal. It rests on a low fieldstone foundation. The family cemetery contains approximately a dozen stones marking the graves of the Sharpe and Barringer families.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Rensselaer is a city in Rensselaer County, New York, United States, and is located on the east side of the Hudson River, directly opposite of Albany. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 9,210. Rensselaer is on the western border of Rensselaer County. The area now known as the City of Rensselaer was settled by the Dutch in the 17th century, who called it t'Greyn Bos, which became Greenbush in English. The city has a rich industrial history stretching back to the 19th century, when it became a major railroad hub; In 2020, Albany-Rensselaer was the ninth busiest Amtrak station in the country and the second busiest in New York State. Rensselaer was one of the earliest locations of the dye industry in the United States, and was the first American location for the production of aspirin.

The Craver Farmstead was established circa 1790 consisting of 225 acres with a farmhouse and a barn. Today, the Craver Farmstead is both architecturally and historically significant. The farmhouse was built prior to 1790 and stands as one of the oldest and best preserved examples of Federal-style architecture in upstate New York. The Federal style evolved as the dominant classicizing architecture in North America between 1780 and1830 as the new republic of the United States sought to define itself as independent in literature, art, and architecture just as it was politically. Craver Farmstead is located on Craver Road in southern Rensselaer County, New York at the northeast corner of the town of East Greenbush, NY near the hamlet of West Sand Lake, NY. The one-mile county road bearing the site's name ("Craver Road") stretches across the original historic site to connect two more recently developed roadways. Historians agree that Craver Road was at first simply a horse trail leading to the then-new farmhouse during the mid-to-late 18th century. Soon afterward, Craver Road became a personal carriageway for the Craver Family as one may think of the modern driveway. The barn located at Craver Farmstead originally served as a private draft horse stable and carriage house for the exclusive use of the Craver family far prior to the advent of the horseless carriage. Historically, the Craver Farmstead represents the agricultural heritage of 18th and 19th century rural New York. It serves as a landmark of the region's agrarian past as well as a tangible link to the hardy folks who settled upstate New York. The Craver Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as certified by the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Tech Valley High School is a four-year regional public high school. It is located on the campus of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, New York, United States. The school opened in September 2007 with a first class of 40 students. Its first class graduated in June 2011 on the campus of the University at Albany.

The Doane Stuart School is a private college preparatory school in Rensselaer, New York. The school is coeducational and interfaith, and it educates students from early childhood through Grade 12.
