Naval Station Mobile is a former station of the United States Navy. It opened in 1985 during the creation of the Strategic Homeport program under the administration of President Ronald Reagan. In 1991, the homeport was closed, as part of declining funding under the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (1989).

Belle Fontaine (; French: [bɛl fɔ̃ˈtɛn] ) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, on the western shore of Mobile Bay. It is located south of the city of Mobile, along the stretch of shore between the Deer River and the Fowl River. As of the 2020 census, its population was 613.The Belle Fontaine shoreline experiences the occasional jubilee, a rare phenomenon in which fish and crustaceans swarm in the water, just off the beach.

The Dog River is a river in Mobile County, Alabama. The Dog River watershed drains more than 90 square miles (230 km2). The river is about 8 miles (13 km) long and is influenced by tides. It originates at 30.64158°N 88.09666°W / 30.64158; -88.09666 within the city of Mobile. It discharges into Mobile Bay, a tidal estuary on the northern Gulf of Mexico, at 30.56491°N 88.08833°W / 30.56491; -88.08833 near Hollinger's Island. It was named by the original French colonists as the Riviere Au Chien, which can be translated into English as Dog River. Dog River is a brackish river - a mixture of fresh and saltwater. Also known to be a shallow river with the average depth at around 9–12 feet deep with some areas along the wetlands being only 1–2 feet at mid-tide. There are both fresh and salt water fish species including bass, bream, mullet, redfish, croakers, speckled trout and flounder. Most land connected to the river is privately owned however there are several parks and public boat launch areas. Boaters can refuel at the marinas located at the river's mouth. Theodore is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The population was 6,270 at the 2020 census. It is a part of the Mobile metropolitan area. Prior to 1900 this area was known as "Clements", but it is now named for William Theodore Hieronymous, a sawmill operator and postmaster.

Theodore High School is a four-year senior high school located in Theodore, Alabama, United States. The school operates in the Mobile County Public School System. There are roughly 1,700 students and 100-110 staff members at the school. It serves: Theodore, a portion of Tillmans Corner, and portions of the St. Elmo area.

Mon Louis is an unincorporated community on Mon Louis Island, in Mobile County, Alabama, United States.

Ben C. Rain High School is a high school located in Mobile, Alabama. In 2022 the school was 89 percent African American, six percent Hispanic, and four percent White. Ninety percent of students were economically disadvantaged and the school's tests scores were well below state and district averages. Velma L. Blackwell was its first African American teacher in 1967. Red Raiders are the mascot. Its footvall team conpetes in 5A. Brent Dearmon coached at the school. Rick Pietri also coached at the school. In 2023, a stadium was built for the school. It is named for teacher, coach, and principal Ben Glover.

The Martin Lindsey House, also known as the Roy and Barbara Hoppmyer House, is a historic house in Mobile, Alabama, United States. The one-story wood-frame structure was built in 1915 for Martin Lindsey on Mobile Bay, along what was, at that time, the Bay Shell Road. Built in a style known locally as a Bay house, it combines bungalow features with those indicative of much older French Colonial buildings found along the United States central Gulf Coast, such as French doors, instead of windows, opening onto the wrap-around galleries and a roof with flared eaves. Currently owned by the Timothy and Desiree Tait family, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 24, 1991.

Bellingrath Gardens and Home is the 65-acre (26 ha) public garden and historic home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath, located on the Fowl River near Mobile, Alabama. Walter Bellingrath was one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the Southeast, and with his wealth built the estate garden and home. He and his wife, Bessie, lived in the home which has since been converted into a museum. The gardens opened to the public in 1932. The site was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on September 14, 1977, and on the National Register of Historic Places on October 19, 1982.

The Hiram B. Austin House is a historic residence on Mon Louis Island in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. Situated on the western shore of Mobile Bay, the 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure was built in 1837 in the Gulf Coast Cottage style. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 11, 1988.
