WZEW (92.1 FM) is an adult album alternative-formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Fairhope, Alabama, serving Mobile, Alabama metropolitan area. WZEW and sister station WNSP broadcast from the former Smith Bakery building in Mobile, Alabama, and WZEW's transmitter is south of Theodore, Alabama. The station was launched as WABF-FM on August 28, 1966 as a simulcast of sister station WABF. In the 1970s, it became an urban dance-formatted station as WGOK, and then religious as WHSP. In the early 1980s, the station was renamed WZEW (on air as 92ZEW) and began broadcasting an eclectic mix of alternative and local music. it was purchased again and returned as WZEW. It has broadcast alternative and local music ever since. WZEW is owned and operated by Dot Com Plus, LLC, and is the only remaining locally owned music station based in Mobile. As of 2018, Dot Com Plus, LLC added two new stations 96.5FM THE CRAB which plays Rock and Blues genres and 92.5FM THE SOUL which plays R&B.

Naval Station Mobile is a former station of the United States Navy. It opened in 1985 during the creation of the Strategic Homeport program under the administration of President Ronald Reagan. In 1991, the homeport was closed, as part of declining funding under the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (1989).

Bellingrath Gardens and Home is the 65-acre (26 ha) public garden and historic home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath, located on the Fowl River near Mobile, Alabama. Walter Bellingrath was one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the Southeast, and with his wealth built the estate garden and home. He and his wife, Bessie, lived in the home which has since been converted into a museum. The gardens opened to the public in 1932. The site was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on September 14, 1977, and on the National Register of Historic Places on October 19, 1982.

The Dog River is a river in Mobile County, Alabama. The Dog River watershed drains more than 90 square miles (230 km2). The river is about 8 miles (13 km) long and is influenced by tides. It originates at 30.64158°N 88.09666°W / 30.64158; -88.09666 within the city of Mobile. It discharges into Mobile Bay, a tidal estuary on the northern Gulf of Mexico, at 30.56491°N 88.08833°W / 30.56491; -88.08833 near Hollinger's Island. It was named by the original French colonists as the Riviere Au Chien, which can be translated into English as Dog River. Dog River is a brackish river - a mixture of fresh and saltwater. Also known to be a shallow river with the average depth at around 9–12 feet deep with some areas along the wetlands being only 1–2 feet at mid-tide. There are both fresh and salt water fish species including bass, bream, mullet, redfish, croakers, speckled trout and flounder. Most land connected to the river is privately owned however there are several parks and public boat launch areas. Boaters can refuel at the marinas located at the river's mouth. The Hiram B. Austin House is a historic residence on Mon Louis Island in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. Situated on the western shore of Mobile Bay, the 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure was built in 1837 in the Gulf Coast Cottage style. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 11, 1988.

Theodore is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The population was 6,270 at the 2020 census. It is a part of the Mobile metropolitan area. Prior to 1900 this area was known as "Clements", but it is now named for William Theodore Hieronymous, a sawmill operator and postmaster.

Theodore High School is a four-year senior high school located in Theodore, Alabama, United States. The school operates in the Mobile County Public School System. There are roughly 1,700 students and 100-110 staff members at the school. It serves: Theodore, a portion of Tillmans Corner, and portions of the St. Elmo area.

Mobile International Speedway is a 1/2-mile paved oval track along U.S. Highway 90 in Irvington, Mobile County, Alabama, United States. It was built by Walter "Skip" Wetjen, and opened in 1965.

Mobile Bay ( moh-BEEL) is a shallow inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, lying within the state of Alabama in the United States. Its mouth is formed by the Fort Morgan Peninsula on the eastern side and Dauphin Island, a barrier island on the western side. The Mobile River and Tensaw River empty into the northern end of the bay, making it an estuary. Several smaller rivers also empty into the bay: Dog River, Deer River, and Fowl River on the western side of the bay, and Fish River on the eastern side. Mobile Bay is the fourth-largest estuary in the United States with a discharge of 62,000 cubic feet (1,800 m3) of water per second. Annually, and often several times during the summer months, the fish and crustaceans will swarm the shallow coastline and shore of the bay. This event, appropriately named a jubilee, draws a large crowd because of the abundance of fresh, easily caught seafood. Mobile Bay is 413 square miles (1,070 km2) in area. It is 31 miles (50 km) long by a maximum width of 24 miles (39 km). The deepest areas of the bay are located within the shipping channel, sometimes in excess of 75 feet (23 m) deep, but the average depth of the bay is 10 feet (3 m).

Ben C. Rain High School is a high school located in Mobile, Alabama. In 2022 the school was 89 percent African American, six percent Hispanic, and four percent White. Ninety percent of students were economically disadvantaged and the school's tests scores were well below state and district averages. Velma L. Blackwell was its first African American teacher in 1967. Red Raiders are the mascot. Its footvall team conpetes in 5A. Brent Dearmon coached at the school. Rick Pietri also coached at the school. In 2023, a stadium was built for the school. It is named for teacher, coach, and principal Ben Glover.
