91st Street (Chesterfield) is an electrified commuter rail station along the Metra Electric Main Line in the Burnside neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is located at 91st and Dauphin Streets and is 11.4 miles (18.3 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 91st Street (Chesterfield) is in zone C. As of 2018, the station is the 226th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 23 weekday boardings.Like much of the main branch of the Metra Electric line, 91st Street-Chesterfield is built on elevated tracks near the embankment of a bridge over 91st Street. This bridge also carries the Amtrak line that runs parallel to it, carrying the City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. A freight spur also exists north of the station. East of this station there was another Metra Electric station along 91st Street known as 91st Street (South Chicago) along the South Chicago Branch. This was replaced by South Chicago-93rd Street Station in 2001. No bus connections are available. Street-side parking for 91st Street-Chesterfield station exists solely along both sides of 91st Street between the east side of the railroad bridge and the northwest and southwest corners of Drexel Avenue.

87th Street (Woodruff) is an electrified commuter rail station along the Metra Electric Main Line in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The station is located at 87th Street and Dauphin Avenue (although unofficially includes South Ingleside Avenue) and is 10.9 miles (17.5 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 87th Street-Woodruff station is in zone B. As of 2018, the station is the 209th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 56 weekday boardings. The station's rank is tied with the neighboring 83rd Street (Avalon Park) station.Like much of the main branch of the Metra Electric line, 87th Street-Woodruff is built on elevated tracks near the embankment of a bridge over 87th Street. This bridge also carries the Amtrak line that runs parallel to it, carrying the City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. East of this station is another Metra Electric station on 87th Street on the South Chicago Branch at 87th Street and Baltimore Avenue. Approximately one mile west of the Woodruff station is the 87th Street station on the CTA Red Line at the Dan Ryan Expressway. At the Woodruff station, street-side parking is available on the southwest and southeast corners of 87th Street and Dauphin Avenue at the north end of Dauphin Park. This can be found on the west side of the station just south of 87th Street. Though Metra's official website claims no bus connections are available, CTA's 87 bus does stop at Dauphin and Ingleside Avenues near the station, as well as on South Dobson Avenue on the east side of the station. The northbound 4 Cottage Grove bus stops on the southeast corner of 87th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue and the southbound 4 stops on the northwest corner of 87th Street and Cottage Grove. This intersection is about a quarter-mile west of the Woodruff station.

95th Street/Chicago State University is an electrified commuter rail station along Metra Electric's main line on the northeast corner of Chicago State University in Chicago, Illinois. The station is located at 95th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, and is 12.0 miles (19.3 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 95th Street/Chicago State University is in zone C. As of 2018, the station is the 224th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 24 weekday boardings.Like much of the main branch of the Metra Electric line, 95th Street-CSU is built on elevated tracks near the embankment of a bridge over 95th Street. This bridge also carries the Amtrak line that runs parallel to it, carrying the City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. In addition the line, which is owned by Canadian National Railway has a connection to the Norfolk Southern Railway which crosses over the tracks as well as Cottage Grove Avenue, between Lyon and Burnside Avenues. In April 2004, the Chicago State University master plan called for a new station south of the existing one. On August 1, 2019, it was announced that Metra and Chicago State University would substantially renovate the station. The work will consist of a new platform, stair enclosure, an elevator and at least one on-demand heater. The completion of the work would lead to regularly scheduled stops.

Despite the name of the station, it is actually located in Chatham, not the Avalon Park neighborhood for which it is named; however, it is only a short distance from Avalon Park. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 83rd Street-Avalon Park station is in zone B. As of 2018, the station is the 209th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 56 weekday boardings. The station's rank is tied with the neighboring 87th Street (Woodruff) station.Like much of the main branch of the Metra Electric line, 83rd Street-Avalon Park is built on elevated tracks near the embankment of a bridge over 83rd Street. The former Nickel Plate Railroad ran just east of the Metra tracks. It also had a station stop at 83rd Street. The Nickel Plate right-of-way now is overgrown with trees. There is another 83rd Street station on the South Chicago Branch. Side-street parking is available on 83rd Street between the tracks and Woodlawn Avenue. Currently, no bus connections are available.

Dickens Athletic Center is a 2,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Chicago, Illinois. It was home to the Chicago State University Cougars basketball teams until late 2006, when it was replaced by the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. It currently hosts the school's volleyball program.

Chatham is one of the 77 community areas of the city of Chicago, Illinois. It is located on the city's South Side. It includes the neighborhoods of Chatham-Avalon, Chatham Club, Chesterfield, East Chatham, West Chatham and the northern portion of West Chesterfield. Its residents are predominantly African American, and it is home to former Senator Roland Burris. Housing many city employees and other officials, Chatham has been a central area for Chicago's middle-class African Americans since the late 1950s.

The Burnside Shops were a major shop for maintenance of locomotives and railroad cars in Chicago, Illinois. The shops were owned and operated by the Illinois Central Railroad. The Illinois Central maintained a presence in Burnside since at least 1862, when it built a station there.In 1968, the Illinois Central agreed to sell the site to Chicago State University. Burnside was replaced by new facilities built at Markham Yard in Harvey and Homewood, Illinois.

Chicago State University (CSU) is a predominantly black (PBI) public university in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1867 as the Cook County Normal School, it was an innovative teachers college. Eventually the Chicago Public Schools assumed control of the school from the county and it became Chicago Teachers College (CTC). Northeastern Illinois University began as a branch campus of CTC in 1949. In 1951, the State of Illinois began funding the college, and assumed control in 1965, transforming it into a comprehensive state college. In 1967, it became Chicago State University. CSU is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

The Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center, also known as the Jones Convocation Center or simply the JCC, is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Chicago, Illinois. Completed in 2007, the arena is home court for the Chicago State University Cougars men's and women's basketball teams. The arena replaced the Dickens Athletic Center, which only had capacity to seat 2,500 persons.The convocation center is unique among Illinois university athletic projects, as Chicago State University itself did not need to raise any money for the project; the money was allocated from the State of Illinois Treasury by then Senate President Emil Jones.The venue hosted the 2012 and 2013 Great West Conference men's basketball tournament.

Cougar Stadium is a baseball venue in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It was home to the Chicago State Cougars baseball team of the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference until the baseball program was discontinued on June 23, 2020. The field hosted its first game on March 18, 2014.

Arthur Dixon Elementary is a public K-8 school located in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is part of the Chicago Public Schools system. The school is named for Chicago alderman and businessman, Arthur Dixon. Dixon opened in 1929.In 2012 it had 600 students; circa 2000 it had 750 students.
