Hoofddorppleinbuurt is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands, part of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid. The district had 10,771 inhabitants as of 1 January 2005. The total area is 96.71 hectares. Hoofddorppleinbuurt was built in the 1920s. Since 1927 the neighborhood through the Zeilbrug has been connected to Amstelveenseweg. It is a mostly a residential neighborhood, but there are a few companies and other institutions.

Henk Sneevlietweg is an Amsterdam Metro station in the south-west Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1997 and is located in the suburb of Nieuw-West is served by line 50 and line 51. Henk Sneevlietweg opened on 28 May 1997.The station is elevated above street level on a railway embankment. The station is named after the street on which its main entrance is located which, in turn, is named after Dutch politician Henk Sneevliet.

Amsterdam Aletta Jacobslaan was a planned railway station in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station was to be built on the Amsterdam–Schiphol railway on the site of the current Henk Sneevlietweg—a station on the Amsterdam Metro.

The Olympic Stadium (Dutch: Olympisch Stadion, Dutch pronunciation: [oːˈlɪmpiˌstaːdijɔn]) is a sporting venue which was used as the main stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. The venue is currently used mostly for athletics, other sports events and concerts. When completed, the stadium had a capacity of 31,600. Following the completion of the rival De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam in 1937, the Amsterdam authorities increased the capacity of the Olympic Stadium to 64,000 by adding a second ring to the stadium. In 1987 the stadium was listed as a national monument. AFC Ajax used the Olympic Stadium for international games until 1996, when the Amsterdam Arena, since 2018 renamed Johan Cruyff Arena, was completed. Renovation started in 1996, and the stadium was refurbished into the original construction of 1928. The second ring of 1937 was removed, reducing capacity to 22,288, and the stadium was made suitable for track and field competitions again. Since 2005, the stadium is home to a sports museum, the Olympic Experience Amsterdam.

At the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, 27 athletics events were contested. The competition was held on a 400-meter track and would become the standard for athletics tracks in the future. For the first time, women's events in athletics were included in the Olympic Games program. There was a total of 706 participants from 40 countries competing.

Football was one of the tournaments at the 1928 Summer Olympics. It was won by Uruguay against Argentina, and was the last Olympic football tournament before the inception of the FIFA World Cup, which was held for the first time in 1930.

At the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, eight events in gymnastics were contested. For the first time at the Olympic Games, women competed in gymnastics. The rope climbing and sidehorse vault events were dropped from the program.

Heemstedestraat is an Amsterdam Metro station in the west of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1997 and is served by line 50 (Isolatorweg - Gein) and line 51 (Isolatorweg - Central Station). The station lies in the south of the city and serves as the metro station for many offices, including the World Fashion Centre.

Slotervaart (short for Tuinstad Slotervaart) is a neighborhood in the far western part of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The area is named after the canal Slotervaart; the first houses were built in 1955. Just outside the residential area there is a hospital, the Slotervaartziekenhuis (since 1976), and the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) (since 1979).Since 1990 Slotervaart was a part of the urban district of Slotervaart-Overtoomse Veld, which was renamed in 2004 as shortly Slotervaart. In 2010 however this borough was merged with surrounding boroughs into the larger borough Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
