Long Pond (Rochester, Massachusetts)

Snipatuit Pond is a shallow 710-acre (2.9 km2) warm water pond in Rochester, Massachusetts. The average depth is five feet and the maximum depth is six feet, except for one very small nine foot hole near the pump station on the west shore. The pond is the headwaters of the Mattapoisett River. The inflow comes from two sources: Cedar Swamp, which is located to the northeast, and Great Quittacas Pond, which is connected to Snipatuit Pond and located to the northwest. The water quality is impaired due to wetlands vegetation. The boat access to the pond is a dirt ramp with limited parking located off Neck Road. Shoreline access is limited to the area east of the pond bordering Neck Road.

Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School or Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School District is located on an 80-acre campus in Rochester, Massachusetts, United States, the geographical center of the five-member town school district that includes Acushnet, Carver, Mattapoisett, Rochester and students from Freetown & Lakeville Public Schools. Note that Lakeville is a member town while, Freetown is not and its students served are limited to around 90. Old Colony is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

North Rochester Congregational Church is a historic Congregational church at 247 North Avenue in Rochester, Massachusetts. Built in 1841 for a congregation established in 1790, it is a high quality example of Greek Revival architecture. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

The Long Plain School is a historic school building at 1203 Main Street in Acushnet, Massachusetts. The two story wood-frame building was built in 1875 to a design by New Bedford architect Caleb Hammond. Basically rectangular in plan, the building has a hip roof and a projecting central pavilion that rises to a fully pedimented gable and is topped by a Gothic style turret. Entries to the building are on the sides of this projecting pavilion. The pediment and the roof cornice are studded with brackets, and the tympanum of the pediment has an oculus window. The building was originally four bays wide, but was extended in 1924 to six, and has had other 20th century additions to its rear.When built, the building had two classrooms, and served as an elementary school. The modifications in 1924 expanded it to four classrooms, two on each floor. The school was closed between 1947 and 1950 due to low enrollment numbers, and was taken out of service as a school building in 1972. It has served as the Long Plain Museum, operated by the Acushnet Historical Society, since 1975.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The Long Plain Friends Meetinghouse is a historic Quaker meeting house at 1341 N. Main Street in Acushnet, Massachusetts. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a gable roof and two chimneys. A single-story hip-roof vestibule projects from the front, with a pair of entrances flanking a window. Built in 1759, it is the oldest ecclesiastical building to survive in southeastern Massachusetts. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The building served as Quaker meeting house until 1985, when it was taken over by the Long Plain Museum. It is open for tours on weekends, and features original artifacts, pews from three centuries, and a small museum with exhibits about Quakers.

The East Over Reservation is a 75-acre (300,000 m2) nature preserve and working farm in Rochester, Massachusetts, USA, and is managed by the Trustees of Reservations. There are hiking trails, quarry-stone walls and a "treasure hunt", designed to test one's map reading skills. It was protected between 2003 and 2005.

It shares its waters with Pocksha Pond and possibly nearby Little Quittacas Pond. These lakes provide a source of drinking water to the city of New Bedford, the largest city in southeastern Massachusetts.

Mary's Pond, also known as Marys Pond, is an 81-acre (330,000 m2) kettle pond in Rochester, Massachusetts. The pond is located east of Leonards Pond. The average depth is 12 feet (3.7 m), and the maximum depth is 32 feet (9.8 m). Rochester's town beach is located on the northwestern shore of the pond along Mary's Pond Road. In 2011, amid plans to create a recreation area on the popular beach, a title search revealed that the beach was privately owned. Although the town of Rochester maintains Mary's Pond Road through an easement, and although the State of Massachusetts maintains the pond itself, the beach is now closed to the public.

Little Quittacas Pond is a lake/reservoir/pond within the towns of Lakeville and Rochester, in southeastern Massachusetts. Little Quittacas is one of the five great ponds of Southeastern Massachusetts that includes Long Pond, Assawompset Pond. Pocksha Pond, Great Quittacas and Little Quittacas Ponds. It is the location of the New Bedford Water Works. These lakes provide a source of drinking water to the city of New Bedford, the largest city in southeastern Massachusetts. Snipatuit Pond is an outlier pond that flows into Buzzards Bay, via the Mattapoisett River and is connected to Great Quittacas through Snipituit Brook. The other great ponds drain into Narragansett Bay through the Taunton River. The five ponds are the largest natural fresh watersheds in Massachusetts.

Pocksha Pond is a lake/reservoir/pond within the towns of Lakeville and Middleboro, in southeastern Massachusetts. It shares its waters with Great Quittacas Pond and openly connected with Assawompset Pond. These lakes provides a source of drinking water to the city of New Bedford, the largest city in southeastern Massachusetts.
