Ocean Park, Washington

The Wreckage is a log house in Ocean Park, Washington, constructed of unhewn logs in 1912. The house was built by author Guy S. Allison on the Long Beach Peninsula as a beach house, using salvaged materials. Recovering driftwood from the Pacific Ocean, Allison also made what he called a "zoo" of driftwood animal shapes surrounding the house that appear on U.S. Geological Survey maps as "Wreckage Park Zoo." The collection was featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not! and Strange as it Seems.

Pacific Pines State Park is a 10-acre (4.0 ha) Washington state park on the Long Beach Peninsula, just north of Ocean Park. From the main parking area, there is a narrow, sandy footpath that leads through a grove of Pacific Ponderosa pine trees to the beach. The park offers picnicking, beachcombing, fishing, clamming, and crabbing.

Nahcotta is an unincorporated community in Pacific County, in the American state of Washington. It is located on Willapa Bay, on the eastern coast of the Long Beach Peninsula, within the Ocean Park CDP.

Klipsan Beach was the site of a station of the United States Life-Saving Service. The station buildings still remain, although they are privately owned. The station is on the National Register of Historic Places. The station's name was originally Ilwaco Beach, and only later became known as Klipsan Station. The station was one of several assigned to provide protection in the area known as the Graveyard of the Pacific.

The Long Beach Peninsula is an arm of land on the southern coast of the state of Washington in the United States. Entirely within Pacific County, it is bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean, the south by the Columbia River, and the east by Willapa Bay. Leadbetter Point State Park and Willapa National Wildlife Refuge are at the northern end of the peninsula and Cape Disappointment is at the southern end, with Pacific Pines State Park located in between. Cape Disappointment State Park west of Ilwaco, part of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, was the westernmost terminus for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A monument designed by Maya Lin as part of the Confluence Project was dedicated there in 2005. The Long Beach Peninsula is known for its continuous sand beach 28 miles (45 km) in extent on the Pacific Ocean side, claimed to be the longest beach in the United States. It is a popular vacation destination for people from Seattle, Washington (165 miles (266 km) distant) and Portland, Oregon (115 miles (185 km) distant).

Oysterville cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in Washington State, began in 1858 on land owned by F.C. Davis. Located about a quarter of a mile outside the historic gold-rush boom town of Oysterville, this 2-acre cemetery holds plots for many of the founding families of the area. The history hidden in the headstones of this historic cemetery tells the tale of the Shoalwater Bay Tribe that lived in the Shoalwater Bay region; the first pioneers that came, drawn by the oyster industry; their descendants; and countless lives lost in the treacherous mouth of the Columbia, the Graveyard of the Pacific. A memorial to the last Native American chieftain of the Long Beach peninsula sits just to the right of the entrance, and a wooden sign with a marble headstone honors the unknown sailors lost at sea with the beginning of Revelation 20:13, "And the sea gave up the dead".

Loomis Lake is a freshwater lake located on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County, Washington. It covers an area of about 167 acres, making it the largest lake on the peninsula, although it is very shallow, with a maximum depth of only about nine feet. Long and narrow, Loomis Lake formed in the low-lying area between dune ridges at an elevation of about 10 feet above sea level. It is fed by rainfall and groundwater contributions.

Oysterville is an unincorporated community located along Willapa Bay on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County, Washington, United States. It is approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) from the city of Ocean Park, and 15 miles (24 km) from Long Beach. Founded in 1841 as an oyster fishing village, the community is registered on the National Register of Historic Places as the Oysterville Historic District. It currently has a population of about 20 residents.

Loomis station was a stop on the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company's narrow gauge line that ran on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County, Washington, United States from 1889 to 1930. The stop actually consisted of simply the mansion of Lewis A. Loomis, the founder and president of the line. He died in 1913, his mansion fell into disrepair, and the railroad ceased making stops at Loomis. In 1953 the mansion was torn down by a grandson of L.A. Loomis.The former location of the station is now approximately three blocks south of Loomis Lake State Park.

Long Island is an uninhabited island lying in the southern part of Willapa Bay in Pacific County, Washington, United States. It is the site of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge, part of the U.S. National Wildlife Refuge System. The island has a land area of 21.666 km2 (8.365 sq mi).

Willapa National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge located on the shores of Willapa Bay in Washington, United States. It comprises 11,000 acres (45 km2) of sand dunes, sand beaches, mudflats, grasslands, saltwater and freshwater marshes, and coniferous forest. The refuge includes Long Island with stands of old growth Western red cedar and hemlock.

Leadbetter Point State Park is a nature preserve and public recreation area located sixteen miles (26 km) north of the city of Long Beach, Washington, at the northern tip of the Long Beach Peninsula. The state park is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and Willapa Bay to the east and shares a border with the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. The park's Martha Jordan Birding Trail goes through Hines Marsh, wintering grounds for trumpeter swans. Other park activities include hiking, boating, fishing, clamming, and beachcombing.
