Lake Burien is a small lake in Burien, Washington, just west of downtown. The lake is publicly owned, but is completely surrounded by private property, rendering it inaccessible to the public.

Highline High School is a public high school in Burien, Washington, United States, located about 3.5 miles from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Highline High School, the flagship high school of the Highline Public Schools district, opened in 1924 and served the cities of Burien, Des Moines, and an area south of Seattle now known as White Center. Today, those cities all have their own area high schools, but at the time Highline was the only high school in the area.

Seahurst Park, in Burien, Washington (a suburb of Seattle), is a 178-acre (0.72 km2) park with forests and a beach on Puget Sound. Originally a King County park, it was given to the newly incorporated city of Burien in 1996. The beach is about 2,000 feet (610 m) long, and the upper part of the beach has been made into a sea wall.

Hicklin Lake is a small lake in the White Center census-designated place of King County, Washington, near Evergreen High School, Cascade Middle School, and Dick Thurnau Park (Lakewood Park). Due to its geography and drainage basin, it has suffered from pollution and eutrophication. Artificial islands were placed in the lake in 2013 to reduce pollution, but they have failed to reduce nutrient concentrations.

Highline Big Picture is a small school in the Highline School District in Burien, Washington, that is part of a network of Big Picture schools all over the United States. The high school opened in 2005 with 2009 being the first year with a graduating class. It is a small school with an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:17. Highline Big Picture, as part of the Big Picture Network, practices Learning Through Internships or LTI as it is known in the school. On Tuesdays and Thursdays students look for interviews with people in their interest field, this is followed up with shadow day with them. Shadow day within the school is a day in which you follow the people you interview around for a day or two. This is to help the student get an internship at the same place of their choice. Once the student has an internship, they can learn real-world experiences in the field they want to be in. The person that helps them in their internship is called a Mentor. They help them both learn in their field but also can give feedback to the LTI project they do during the rest of the school week. Students are not limited to only one internship or only one job field to pursue. The purpose of LTI and the internships is to help the student learn what they want to do in their lives.

The White Center COVID-19 quarantine site is a quarantine site in the unincorporated King County, Washington neighborhood of White Center, near Seattle, Washington, in the United States. Residents who are diagnosed with COVID-19 but can not be quarantined at home, but who do not need emergency medical care, will be housed there. Many of them are expected to be the homeless.The facility was funded by Public Health – Seattle & King County as part of a $28 million emergency spending package. The plan was announced on March 3 and the first trailer was installed there on the same day. There will be space for 32 people to be housed in eight trailers. By March 27, the trailers had plumbing and were ready for use.Senator Joe Nguyen, who represents White Center in the Washington State Legislature, said he was "wary to see that this facility has been placed in a community already deeply disenfranchised by decades of policies working against it".The White Center facility was one of five quarantine sites in King County by the end of March, with others in Kent, Issaquah, North Seattle, and one adjacent to Harborview hospital in Seattle.
