Weißenburger Platz is a square in Munich's Franzosenviertel (French Quarters) in the Haidhausen district. In the middle of the concentrically arranged square is the Glaspalast-Brunnen (glass palace fountain), designed by August von Voit in 1853. This was initially located in the Glaspalast in the Alter Botanischer Garten - hence the name. At the end of the 19th century the fountain was moved to Orleansplatz. When the Ostbahnhof (East Train Station) there was rebuilt, the Glaspalast-Brunnen had to make room and was moved to the nearby Weißenburger Platz. After dusk the fountains water feature is illuminated.Around the Glaspalast-Brunnen there are flowerbeds, which are planted several times a year. This circular green space is framed by a row of trees, under which benches are placed, and a ring-shaped street, which is partly a pedestrian zone. Five streets run towards Weißenburger Platz in the shape of a star: Metzstraße and Weißenburger Straße on both sides, and Lothringer Straße, where the municipal art gallery Lothringer13 is located near the square. In the buildings surrounding Weißenburger Platz there are various shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and a medical centre.Since 1976, Weißenburger Platz has hosted a Christmas market that has grown steadily over the years. Nowadays, the Weißenburger Platz is being overbuilt with over 60 stands for the Christmas market, which takes place annually from the end of November until Christmas.The name and design of the French Quarter have a historical background: When this quarter was created in 1872 after the German victory in the Franco-Prussian War (1870/1871), the planners decided to create squares and streets according to the French model. Therefore, the streets run towards the squares in a star shape. At the same time, they got their names from places where German armies won battles during the Franco-Prussian War. The Battle of Weissenburg gave its name to this square. Here the French army suffered a defeat in 1870. Today the small town in Alsace is no longer called Weißenburg but Wissembourg.

The Beer Hall Putsch, also known as the Munich Putsch, was a failed coup d'état by Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP) leader Adolf Hitler, Generalquartiermeister Erich Ludendorff and other Kampfbund leaders in Munich, Bavaria, on 8–9 November 1923, during the Weimar Republic. Approximately two thousand Nazis marched on the Feldherrnhalle, in the city centre, but were confronted by a police cordon, which resulted in the deaths of 16 Nazi Party members and four police officers.Hitler escaped immediate arrest and was spirited off to safety in the countryside. After two days, he was arrested and charged with treason.The putsch brought Hitler to the attention of the German nation for the first time and generated front-page headlines in newspapers around the world. His arrest was followed by a 24-day trial, which was widely publicised and gave him a platform to express his nationalist sentiments to the nation. Hitler was found guilty of treason and sentenced to five years in Landsberg Prison, where he dictated Mein Kampf to fellow prisoners Emil Maurice and Rudolf Hess. On 20 December 1924, having served only nine months, Hitler was released. Once released, Hitler redirected his focus towards obtaining power through legal means rather than by revolution or force, and accordingly changed his tactics, further developing Nazi propaganda.

Gasteig is a cultural center in Munich, opened in 1985, which hosts the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. The Richard Strauss Conservatory, the Volkshochschule, and the municipal library are all located in the Gasteig. Most of the events of the Filmfest München, and many of the events of the Munich Biennale take place here. The Gasteig is planned to be restored until 2027. A provisional house for many of its functions is Gasteig HP8.

The Hofbräukeller is a restaurant in Haidhausen, Munich, Germany owned by Hofbräuhaus brewery. It is a traditional Bavarian restaurant in a cellar with a beer garden, not a tourist spot like the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl. It is a part of the Wiener Platz, home to the Wiener Markt. Adolf Hitler gave his first political speech as a member of the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, DAP) at the beer hall on October 16, 1919.

The parish church of St. John the Baptist (German: Pfarrkirche St. Johann or Pfarrkirche St. Johannes der Täufer) is a Roman Catholic church in the Munich district of Haidhausen. It was designed by Matthias Berger on Locust Place in the Gothic Revival style. The west tower is 97 meters high, making it the third highest church in Munich.

Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium is one of Munich's oldest schools. It is situated on Regerplatz in the Munich district Au. Founded in 1899 as a Kreisrealschule, it became a Kreisoberrealschule in 1940 and a state-run Gymnasium in 1965. It currently holds around 900 students mainly in a natural scientific-mathematical, but as of late also a modern language branch. In 1998, a gifted student class was started. In a partnership with Ludwig Maximilian University gifted students receive so-called „Enrichment“ classes, during which they can carry out experiments themselves at the biology and physics departments under supervision by known professors.The school is host to student exchanges with France, Sweden and Poland. A new building with cafeteria and several new specialist rooms was built in 2008, made necessary by the adoption of the 8-year Gymnasium in many German states.

The Museum Lichtspiele (German: [muˈzeːʊm ˈlɪçtˌʃpiːlə]) is a movie theater in Munich, Germany. It is situated in the district Au next to the Deutsches Museum and along the Isar bank. Established in 1910, it is Munich's oldest still operational movie theater and known for showing English-language blockbusters and art movies, as well as The Rocky Horror Picture Show since its 1977 premiere in Germany.

The Maximilianeum, a palatial building in Munich, was built as the home of a gifted students' foundation but since 1949 has housed the Bavarian State Parliament. It sits grandly and as a focal point on the bank of the Isar River above Maximilian Bridge at the eastern end of Maximilianstrasse, a royal avenue dotted with Neo-Gothic palaces influenced by the English Perpendicular style. Construction was the initiative of King Maximilian II of Bavaria in 1857, with Friedrich Bürklein the lead architect. Weight problems delayed completion until 1874, and the façade, which had been conceived as Neo-Gothic, needed to be altered; Gottfried Semper was entrusted with the adjustments, resulting in the final quasi-Renaissance appearance decorated with arches, columns, mosaics, and niches filled with busts. The much less visible rear of the edifice has been extended in motley fashion to provide new parliamentary office space, in 1958, 1964, 1992, and again in 2012, each time with a different architectural approach.
