Middletown, San Diego

Middletown is an at-grade station on the Blue Line and Green Line of the San Diego Trolley system. It is located along the Surf Line right of way at West Palm Street, in the Middletown neighborhood of San Diego, which includes a variety of medium-density housing within blocks of the station. The station offers a connection to the San Diego International Airport via a shuttle stop one block away from this station. This station opened on June 16, 1996 as part of the North/South Line (later renamed the Blue Line) extension to the Old Town Transit Center. The station was closed from May 21 through August 2012 for renovations as part of the Trolley Renewal Project.

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station San Diego (CGAS San Diego) is a Coast Guard Air Station based in San Diego, California, United States, across the street from San Diego International Airport. CGAS San Diego operates three MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters off the Coast Guard ramp. CGAS San Diego is also adjacent to Sector San Diego which houses two 41-foot Utility Boats, two 21-foot (6.4 m) USCG rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIB's), one 25-foot (7.6 m) RB-HS and three 25-foot (7.6 m) RB-S. Being implemented are two 33-foot (10 m) Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement (SPC-LE), which are 33-foot-long (10 m) USCG vessels used for maritime Law Enforcement. The 33-foot (10 m) SPC-LE's have three 275 horsepower (205 kW) Mercury Marine engines along with some of the most advanced electronics systems in existence. Also at the station are two 87-foot (27 m) USCG Coastal Patrol Boats. The air station is physically separated from the rest of the airfield, such that USCG fixed-wing aircraft must cross a busy, 6-lane city street to reach the runway; street light activation opens the locked gates to the airfield and the air station, and also stops traffic while aircraft are traversing the street.

The Spruce Street Suspension Bridge, colloquially known as the Wiggly Bridge, is a historic 375 ft (114 m) long footbridge in the Bankers Hill neighborhood of San Diego. It was built in 1912 by Edwin M. Capps. It can hold a maximum of 327,900 lb (148,700 kg) and crosses Kate Sessions Canyon. It was designated a San Diego Historic Landmark in 1977.

This Queen Anne Victorian was built in 1888 and was the last residence of inventor Henry Timken (1831-1909). Henry Timken Jr. (grandson of inventor Henry Timken), along with the Putnam sisters, co-founded the Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park, a short distance from the home. Bankers Hill, also known as Park West and formerly known as Florence Heights, is a long-established uptown San Diego neighborhood near Balboa Park. A more constricted definition of the neighborhood sets its eastern boundary as Fourth Avenue and its western boundary as First Avenue.The area is primarily residential south of Laurel Street and west of Fifth Avenue. There is a small commercial district along First Avenue between Hawthorne and Juniper Streets. There are multiple high-rise condominiums along Fifth and Sixth Avenue facing the park. Locations further west allow an elevated, panoramic view of Downtown, San Diego Bay, the airport, Coronado, Harbor Island and Mount Soledad. Many homes date from the late 19th century, some of which have been restored as offices or bed-and-breakfasts. Architects Irving Gill, William Hebbard, Richard Requa and Frank Mead designed homes in this area. The area acquired the name "Bankers Hill" because of its reputation as a home for the affluent.

Mission Brewery Plaza is a historic brewery building in the Middletown neighborhood of San Diego, California. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 6, 1989. It is also the name of a San Diego microbrewery which opened in 2007.

It is located along the Surf Line right of way at West Washington Street, in a largely industrial area of San Diego. The stop also serves the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and the Mission Hills neighborhood, which includes a variety of medium-density housing within blocks of the station. This station opened on June 16, 1996 as part of the North/South Line (later renamed the Blue Line) extension to the Old Town Transit Center. On July 2, 2011, the station was closed to undergo renovations as part of the Trolley Renewal Project. It was originally supposed to be reopened by early September, but numerous construction issues pushed the reopening back to November 24, 2011.
