Middletown is a neighborhood located north of Little Italy (Downtown San Diego), south of Mission Hills and Hillcrest, east of San Diego International Airport, and west of Bankers Hill. Interstate 5 passes through this neighborhood and San Diego Trolley has one station in this neighborhood.

Harper's Topiary Garden is a private garden in the Middletown neighborhood of San Diego, California, containing over 50 plant sculptures that have been used in topiary. All of the plants have been trimmed by hand. Entering the garden is prohibited; visitors can only view and photograph the area.

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station San Diego (CGAS San Diego) is a Coast Guard Air Station based in San Diego, California, United States, across the street from San Diego International Airport. CGAS San Diego operates three MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters off the Coast Guard ramp. CGAS San Diego is also adjacent to Sector San Diego which houses two 41-foot Utility Boats, two 21-foot (6.4 m) USCG rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIB's), one 25-foot (7.6 m) RB-HS and three 25-foot (7.6 m) RB-S. Being implemented are two 33-foot (10 m) Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement (SPC-LE), which are 33-foot-long (10 m) USCG vessels used for maritime Law Enforcement. The 33-foot (10 m) SPC-LE's have three 275 horsepower (205 kW) Mercury Marine engines along with some of the most advanced electronics systems in existence. Also at the station are two 87-foot (27 m) USCG Coastal Patrol Boats. The air station is physically separated from the rest of the airfield, such that USCG fixed-wing aircraft must cross a busy, 6-lane city street to reach the runway; street light activation opens the locked gates to the airfield and the air station, and also stops traffic while aircraft are traversing the street.

The Spruce Street Suspension Bridge, colloquially known as the Wiggly Bridge, is a historic 375 ft (114 m) long footbridge in the Bankers Hill neighborhood of San Diego. It was built in 1912 by Edwin M. Capps. It can hold a maximum of 327,900 lb (148,700 kg) and crosses Kate Sessions Canyon. It was designated a San Diego Historic Landmark in 1977.

This Queen Anne Victorian was built in 1888 and was the last residence of inventor Henry Timken (1831-1909). Henry Timken Jr. (grandson of inventor Henry Timken), along with the Putnam sisters, co-founded the Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park, a short distance from the home. The Timken House has been a private residence since 1965 and was designed by the prominent architects Comstock and Trotsche.

Bankers Hill, also known as Park West and formerly known as Florence Heights, is a long-established uptown San Diego neighborhood near Balboa Park. It is bordered to the north by Hillcrest at Upas Street, to the south by Downtown (at Interstate 5, the San Diego Freeway), to the east by Balboa Park, and to the west by Interstate 5, Little Italy and the neighborhood known as Midtown. A more constricted definition of the neighborhood sets its eastern boundary as Fourth Avenue and its western boundary as First Avenue.The area is primarily residential south of Laurel Street and west of Fifth Avenue. There is a small commercial district along First Avenue between Hawthorne and Juniper Streets. There are multiple high-rise condominiums along Fifth and Sixth Avenue facing the park. Locations further west allow an elevated, panoramic view of Downtown, San Diego Bay, the airport, Coronado, Harbor Island and Mount Soledad. Many homes date from the late 19th century, some of which have been restored as offices or bed-and-breakfasts. Architects Irving Gill, William Hebbard, Richard Requa and Frank Mead designed homes in this area. The area acquired the name "Bankers Hill" because of its reputation as a home for the affluent.

Guardian of Water is a 1939 fountain and sculpture by Donal Hord, installed outside the San Diego County Administration Center, in the U.S. state of California. The statue was dedicated on June 10, 1939.

The San Diego County Administration Center is a historic Beaux-Arts/Spanish Revival-style building in San Diego, California. It houses the offices of the Government of San Diego County. It was completed in 1938 and was primarily funded by the Works Progress Administration. It was previously known as the San Diego Civic Center and as the City and County Administration Building. Because of its notable architecture and its location fronting San Diego Bay, it is nicknamed the Jewel on the Bay. Architects were Samuel Wood Hamill, William Templeton Johnson, Richard Requa and Louis John Gill. The building used innovative construction techniques to guard against earthquakes, and the project was considered to be "a prototype of American civic center architecture". The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 16, 1988.

County Center/Little Italy is an at-grade station on the Blue Line and Green Line of the San Diego Trolley system. It is located along the Surf Line right of way between West Beech Street and West Cedar Street, in the Little Italy neighborhood of Downtown San Diego. The area has a variety of medium and high-density housing, and is also the site of the County Center, the location of many buildings for the Government of San Diego County. County Center/Little Italy station opened on July 2, 1992 and served as the northern terminus for the North/South Line (later renamed the Blue Line) until the line was extended to Old Town Transit Center in June 1996. This station was closed from August 6 to October 14, 2012, for renovations as part of the Trolley Renewal Project.
