Obersee (Glarus)

The Rautispitz is a mountain of the Schwyzer Alps, overlooking Netstal in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. It lies between the lakes Obersee and the Klöntalersee and culminates at 2,283 metres (7,490 ft) above sea level. Its summit is generally accessed from the west side, with several trails starting at the Obersee.

The Schijen is a mountain in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland, overlooking the two lakes Obersee and Klöntalersee on its northern and southern side, respectively. It lies west of the town of Glarus within the Schwyzer Alps.

It is composed of twenty municipalities. The seat of the government and parliament is Herisau, and the seat of judicial authorities are in Trogen. It is traditionally considered a "half-canton", the other half being Appenzell Innerrhoden. Appenzell Ausserrhoden is located in the north east of Switzerland. Together with the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, it forms an enclave within the canton of St. Gallen. The canton is essentially located in the Alpine foothills of the Alpstein massif, culminating at the Säntis. Appenzell Ausserrhoden was part of the historical canton of Appenzell, which was divided into Appenzell Innerrhoden (Catholic) and Appenzell Ausserrhoden (Protestant) in 1597 as a result of the Swiss Reformation.

Oberurnen is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Effective from 1 January 2011, Oberurnen is part of the municipality of Glarus Nord.

Netstal is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Effective from 1 January 2011, Netstal is part of the municipality of Glarus.

The Brünnelistock (2,133 m [6,998 ft]) is a mountain of the Schwyzer Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Schwyz and Glarus, Switzerland. It lies north of the Mutteristock, on the range between the Wägitalersee and the Obersee.

Netstal railway station (German: Bahnhof Netstal) is a railway station in the municipality of Glarus in the Swiss canton of Glarus. It is an intermediate stop on the Weesen to Linthal railway line, and serves the village of Netstal. The station is served by Zürich S-Bahn service S25 between Zurich and Linthal, and by St. Gallen S-Bahn service S6 between Rapperswil and Schwanden. Both services operate once per hour, combining to provide two trains per hour between Ziegelbrücke and Schwanden.

St. Hilarius Parish Church of Näfels (German: Pfarrkirche St. Hilarius) is a Catholic church in Näfels, Glarus Nord, Glarus Canton, Switzerland. It is listed as a Cultural Property of National Significance.

The Vorburg is a ruined castle located in the village of Oberurnen, now part of the municipality of Glarus Nord in the Canton of Glarus of Switzerland. It is the most significant castle in the canton.

The Battle of Näfels was fought on 9 April 1388 between the Swiss canton of Glarus, supported by its allies of the Old Swiss Confederation, and the Duchy of Austria ruled by the House of Habsburg. It was a decisive victory for Glarus and led to its independence from Habsburg rule. The battle was the last of the Swiss-Austrian conflicts that stretched through most of the 14th century.

Näfels is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Effective from 1 January 2011, Näfels is part of the municipality of Glarus Nord.

Glarus Nord is one of three municipalities of the canton of Glarus, Switzerland (the others being Glarus and Glarus Süd). Effective from 1 January 2011, Glarus Nord incorporates the former municipalities of Bilten, Filzbach, Mollis, Mühlehorn, Näfels, Niederurnen, Oberurnen and Obstalden.
