McKinney Roughs Nature Park is a 1,140-acre (460 ha) nature park and archaeological site in Cedar Creek, Texas, United States. Located about 13 mi (21 km) east of Austin and next to the Colorado River, the park features 17.6 mi (28.3 km) of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The park is owned and managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). During the late Archaic Period, around 2,100 years ago, McKinney Roughs served as a camping ground for prehistoric hunter-gatherers. In the 1850s, the land was owned by a ranching family that were early settlers of Texas. Over the years, it passed through various owners until it was acquired by the LCRA, which then transformed it into a nature park in 1998. The park has an unusual convergence of four ecosystems that contribute to its diverse animal and plant life. Within McKinney Roughs and the broader Lost Pines forest, over 250 bird species find habitat, establishing it as a renowned bird-watching destination in Texas. It is also home to several pine trees, mostly notably the loblolly pine, similar to the ones found in the nearby Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park. Situated adjacent to the 405 acres (164 ha) Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa, McKinney Roughs offers an array of features and amenities. These include an educational science center, a dual zip line, short-term rental facilities for larger groups, kayaking, and guided nature tours, among other offerings.

Cedar Creek High School is a public high school located in Cedar Creek, Texas (USA) and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. It is part of the Bastrop Independent School District located in central Bastrop County and is the district's second high school. Cedar Creek opened with just freshmen and sophomores in the fall of 2010. Cedar Creek High School celebrated its second graduating class in 2014 with over 200 graduates. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Hopewell School, also known as the Hopewell-Rosenwald School, is a former African American school in Cedar Creek, Texas, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 15, 2015. The school was built in 1921–1922 with assistance from the Rosenwald Fund. The school opened in 1922 and closed in the late 1950s. The school was initially funded by a monetary and a land grant from Martin and Sophia MacDonald of Bastrop County and the Rosenwald Fund. It was built by local residents to educate young African American children during the early to mid 1900s, a time of racial segregation in the United States.

Hills Prairie, or Hill's Prairie, is an unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. It is located off Farm to Market Road 304, 8 miles (13 km) southeast of the town of Bastrop, 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Smithville and 40 miles (64 km) southeast of Austin.

Utley ( YOOT-lee) is an unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. Utley is located along Farm to Market Road 969, about 15 minutes from Austin, Elgin and Bastrop. Utley was the filming location for the 1996 film, Michael with John Travolta. The gas station/general store building was used for the scene of the Milk Bottle Motel. There they built several facades for the motel rooms as well as the milk bottle. Episode 509 of the TV series Fear the Walking Dead was also filmed in and around Utley.

Cedar Creek is an unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, United States, located 11 miles (18 km) west of Bastrop at the intersection of State Highway 21 and Farm to Market Road 535. Cedar Creek has a post office with a ZIP code 78612. The community takes its name from Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Colorado River. The 405-acre Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort is located in Cedar Creek.

McDuff is a ghost town in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The community was located 8 miles southwest of Elgin, 12 miles northwest of Bastrop, and 25 miles east of Austin. It was on an old stage mail route from Bastrop to Austin. Today, the town site would correspond roughly with the intersection of Farm to Market Road 969 and Upper Elgin River Road.

The Webberville Solar Farm, is a 35 MWp (30 MWAC) photovoltaic array in located in Webberville, Texas, only about 6 miles east of the Tesla Gigafactory 5. It has 127,728 Trina Solar solar panels mounted on single-axis trackers, covers an area of 380 acres (150 ha), and was built at a cost of $250 million. It is expected to generate 61 GWh in the first year of operation, and 1.4 billion kWh over its 25 year life. Operation began on December 20, 2011, with a ribbon cutting by Austin mayor Lee Leffingwell on January 6, 2012.The project was constructed by RES Americas, who will operate the plant for five years. In 2012, SunEdison sold the plant to MetLife and Longsol Holdings, but will operate the plant for 20 years upon the expiration of the responsibilities of RES Americas. The station is owned by Sinclair Telecable Inc. (not related to television broadcaster Sinclair Broadcast Group, who owns CBS station KEYE-TV) and operated under the name Waterloo Media. The station is also broadcast on HD radio. It bills itself as La Z 107.1 (Spanish for "The Z 107.1"). The station has studios along Interstate 35 in North Austin, and the transmitter site is located southeast of Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

Wat Buddhananachat is a Buddhist Temple located about 20 miles southeast of Downtown, on Linden Rd. in Del Valle, Texas. This Buddhist temple was established in April, 1986 (incorporated on August 4, 1986) as a nonprofit organization to serve as a center for religious and cultural activities for Theravadic Buddhist belonging to different ethnic communities in central Texas.
