Dandenong High School

Dandenong ( DAN-di-nong) is a southeastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, about 35 km (22 mi) from the Melbourne CBD. It is the council seat of the City of Greater Dandenong local government area, with a recorded population of 30,127 at the 2021 census. Situated mainly on the northwest bank of the lower Dandenong Creek, it is 21.6 km (13.4 mi) from the eponymous Dandenong Ranges to its northeast and completely unrelated in both location and nature of the settlement. A regional transport hub and manufacturing centre of Victoria, Dandenong is located at the junctional region of the Dandenong Valley Highway, Princes Highway, Monash Freeway and Dingley Freeway, and is the gateway town of the Gippsland railway line into West Gippsland. It is directly neighboured from the north and south by two sister suburbs Dandenong North and Dandenong South, from the east by Doveton, and from the northwest and southwest by Noble Park and Keysborough, respectively. The easternmost and westernmost neighbourhoods of suburb are also unofficially named Dandenong East and Dandenong West, separated from the main portions of the suburb by Stud Road and Princes Highway, and Cheltenham Road and Gladstone Road/Jones Road/Bennet Street, respectively. Dandenong began as a township in 1852 and at the start of the 20th century was an important regional city with its own suburbs. During the mid-20th century it became a major manufacturing and commercial area, and eventually an incorporated satellite city of the expanding Greater Melbourne conurbation. A business district, the former town centre, covers much of its area and is one of the largest in Greater Melbourne. It is currently undergoing major transit-oriented urban renewal, which was first planned in the Melbourne 2030 strategy.

The City of Dandenong was a local government area about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 36.26 square kilometres (14.00 sq mi), and existed from 1857 until 1994.

Dandenong Market is a retail market located in Dandenong, Victoria in the South East of Melbourne, at the corner of Clow and Cleeland Streets. Dandenong Market was established in 1866 and features over 200 market traders spread over 8000 square metres. It attracts an estimated 5 million visitors a year. It is approximately 30 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. The market, originally located at Lonsdale and McCrae Streets, was relocated to its current location in 1926. As a part of state redevelopment efforts in the City of Greater Dandenong, the market underwent a $26 million refurbishment that was completed in 2011. The market features traders from approximately 150 nationalities. The market is home to both stalls and shops selling fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood and meat, deli items, bakeries, and flowers. The market also has a large general merchandise area called "the Bazaar", featuring 120 traders selling clothing, jewellery, toys, home ware and computer equipment. Dandenong Market hosts annual events and festivals, including the Dandenong World Fare (which attracts an estimated 35,000 visitors), the Full Moon festival, and Diwali.

The electoral district of Dandenong is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was first proclaimed in 1904 when the district of Dandenong and Berwick was abolished. The district is located within the outskirts of Melbourne's south-east, containing both residential and industrial areas, as well as the Armada Dandenong Plaza and Churchill National Park. A very multicultural district, it has been a safe Labor seat since the 1970s. Dandenong District comprises the suburbs of Dandenong, Doveton, Eumemmerring and parts of Dandenong North, Dandenong South, Endeavour Hills, Noble Park, Noble Park North and Rowville.It is part of the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region for elections to the Legislative Council.

Dandenong railway station is the junction for the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of the same name, and opened on 8 October 1877.A number of train stabling sidings are located near the station, including to the north of the station on either side of the railway line, as well as parallel to the platforms. A little-used goods yard was once located to the south of the station.The disused General Motors station was situated between Dandenong and Hallam.

Armada Dandenong Plaza is a major-regional shopping centre located in the heart of Dandenong built adjoining Myer Dandenong in 1989. Myer originally opened in Dandenong on November 4, 1974 as a four-level, standalone department store. It is approximately 30 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD. The centre has two large food courts (one on level 1 and another outside Reading Cinemas on level 2). Level 3 has a large Fresh Food Hall outside Coles supermarket. Armada Dandenong Plaza is in close proximity to the Dandenong Market and also Dandenong Hub.

Chisholm Institute is a government-owned Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Institute located in south-east Melbourne Australia. It provides adult education in several areas including the arts, hospitality, information technology, trades and business. Chisholm offers over 250 certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor and graduate certificate courses.The Institute takes its name from Caroline Chisholm. Its name was also inspired by the Chisholm Institute of Technology, a tertiary institution that operated in southeast Melbourne from 1982 to 1990 before becoming part of Monash University.Chisholm Institute has campuses in Dandenong, Springvale, Berwick, Frankston, Wonthaggi, Cranbourne, and Mornington Peninsula Campus along with central Melbourne.Berwick Technical Education Centre (TEC) was established at the Berwick campus with the new building completed in 2009. A new trade careers centre worth $26 million associated with the TEC was announced in the 2011 State Budget in May.

The Albanian Mosque (Albanian: Xhamija Shqiptare Dandenong Këshavë), also known as the Albanian Islamic Centre Mosque and Albanian Sakie Islamic Centre, is a mosque located in Dandenong, a south eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is one of the earliest mosques in the country.The mosque is a large building, built next to Dandenong Creek and residential neighbourhood, with a minaret, and community facilities. Associated with the Albanian Australian community, the mosque is owned by and the centre of the Albanian Sakie Islamic Society of Dandenong.

Yarraman railway station is a minor commuter railway station on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines of the metropolitan railway network in Victoria, Australia, located about 27 km (17 mi) from the Melbourne CBD. It serves neighbourhoods between the south-eastern Melbourne suburbs of Noble Park and Dandenong, and is named after the nearby Yarraman Creek, a first-order tributary of the lower Dandenong Creek/Patterson River system. The EastLink toll road is located near the down (south-eastern) end of the station, crossing the line via an overpass. The EastLink Trail, which follows the tollway, uses the entrance footbridge of the station to traverse the railway. The station was opened on 21 December, 1976. To allow its construction, the existing up track was slewed in 1974. At that time, an alternative name for the station, "Fotheringham", was suggested, to recognise a notable local family.In 2015, the Level Crossing Removal Project announced the grade separation of the nearby Chandler Road level crossing. Construction began in 2016, with the level crossing removed and a railway overpass built over the road by 2018. Unlike many stations between Noble Park and Caulfield, that were elevated on viaducts as part of the level crossing removal project, the tracks between Dandenong and Noble Park largely remained at ground level. Yarraman station was not rebuilt because it is over 500 metres away from the Chandler Road viaduct.

Dandenong North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 27 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Greater Dandenong local government area. Dandenong North recorded a population of 22,550 at the 2021 census.
