Ashton Moss railway station

Ryecroft is an area of Ashton-under-Lyne, a town in Greater Manchester, England. It occupies a western area of Ashton. Originally a farm held by Robert de Wright in 1422 the principal tenant at the will of Sir John de Assheton. It was not until Joseph Stanfield Grimshaw rented the area to Abel Buckley at a half yearly rent of £125 that development took place when Abel and his brother John Smith Buckley built the first of the Ryecroft Mills in the 1830s. Hugh Mason, social reformer and Liberal politician owned cotton mills in Rycroft in the 19th century, before becoming mayor and Member of Parliament for Ashton-under-Lyne.

Ashton West is a tram stop on the East Manchester Line (EML) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. It was built as part of Phase 3b of the Metrolink's expansion, and is located on Lord Sheldon Way near the Ashton Moss leisure complex, in western Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, England. The stop opened on 9 October 2013, ahead of the originally-publicised schedule of the winter of 2013–14. The stop primarily serves the aforementioned leisure and retail complex, and is also the closest to the Tameside Stadium, home of Curzon Ashton F.C. The stop is one of the least used on the Metrolink network.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Ashton-under-Lyne, the archdeaconry of Rochdale, and the diocese of Manchester.With four other local churches, it is part of the Parish of the Good Shepherd, Ashton-under-Lyne. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It is a Commissioners' Church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission. The authors of the Buildings of England series consider it to be a "large and ambitious" church. In the National Heritage List for England it is described as a "particularly imposing and elaborate example of a Commissioners' Church".

The stop has an island platform, and is located on Lord Sheldon Way near the Ashton Moss leisure complex and Snipe Retail Park on Ashton New Road. The station is served by a 200 space Park + Ride car park, with electric vehicle parking facilities.

Curzon Ashton Football Club is an association football club based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. Founded in 1963 and nicknamed "The Nash", the club is affiliated to the Manchester Football Association and currently competes in the National League North, (2022/3) at the sixth tier of English football. Curzon Ashton won Division One North of the Northern Premier League in the 2013–14 season, and the Premier Division play-offs in the 2014–15 season, thereby gaining promotion to the National League North. Home matches have been played at Tameside Stadium since 2005.

The Audenshaw Junction rail accident occurred on the evening of 20 May 1970 near Guide Bridge railway station, Greater Manchester, England. A Class 506 electric multiple unit train from Manchester Piccadilly to Hadfield had started away from a signal when a set of points moved underneath the train, causing it to be derailed and throwing the centre carriage onto its side. Two passengers were killed and 13 were injured.

Scott & Hodgson Ltd, was a manufacturer of stationary steam engines in Guide Bridge, Greater Manchester. For instance, in 1914, they supplied an inverted vertical compound engine with Corliss valve gear to Hardman and Ingham's Diamond Rope Works, Royton, Lancashire. This engine is now in the Bolton Steam Museum.
