Kiribathgoda

Mawaramandiya is a village situated in the Gampaha District of the Western Province, Sri Lanka.

British Ceylon (Sinhala: බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය ලංකාව, romanised: Britānya Langkāwa; Tamil: பிரித்தானிய இலங்கை, romanised: Biritthāṉiya Ilaṅkai), officially British Settlements and Territories in the Island of Ceylon with its Dependencies from 1802 to 1833, then the Island of Ceylon and its Territories and Dependencies from 1833 to 1931 and finally the Island of Ceylon and its Dependencies from 1931 to 1948, was the British Crown colony of present-day Sri Lanka between 1796 and 4 February 1948. Initially, the area it covered did not include the Kingdom of Kandy, which was a protectorate, but from 1817 to 1948 the British possessions included the whole island of Ceylon, now the nation of Sri Lanka. The British Ceylon period is the history of Sri Lanka between 1815 and 1948. It follows the fall of the Kandyan Kingdom into the hands of the British Empire. It ended over 2300 years of Sinhalese monarchy rule on the island. The British rule on the island lasted until 1948 when the country regained independence following the Sri Lankan independence movement.

The Sapugaskanda is a 160 megawatt power station located in Sapugaskanda, adjacent to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. The power station consists of twelve generating units, supplied by MAN, and Siemens. Four of the units are rated at 20 MW, while the remaining eight are rated at 10 MW. The power station is operated by the Ceylon Electricity Board. Units 1-2 were commissioned in May 1984, unit 3 in September 1984, unit 4 in October 1984. These four 20 MW units make up the Sapugaskanda-A division. Units 5-8 were commissioned in September 1997, and units 8–12 in October 1999, which together make up the Sapugaskanda-B division. All units run on diesel.

The Sapugaskanda Refinery (also referred to as Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery) is the single largest oil refinery of Sri Lanka. The refinery was built in August 1969 by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation under the guidance of Iran, initially designed to process 38,000 barrels (6,000 m3) per stream day of Dubai crude oil, and Arabian light crude oil. (Medium sour crude oil) It was commissioned on 12 October 1969. The facility, which covers an area of 165 acres (67 ha), currently has a capacity of 50,000 barrels (7,900 m3) per stream day. As with most refineries, the Sapugaskanda Refinery has an in-house utilities section which supplies electricity, water, steam, instrument air, and other necessities for operations. In total, 65 storage tanks are located at the premises for storage of crude oil, finished, and other products, five of which has a capacity of 40,000 tonnes (39,000 long tons). A further four crude oil tanks located in the separate Orugodawatta tank farm.

Malwana (Sinhala: මල්වාන Tamil: மல்வான) is a town of 36,050 (estimate as of 2011) inhabitants in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is situated on the banks of the Kelani River, 14 km north-east of Colombo. It is part of the Gampaha District and Biyagama electoral division. Recognized all over Sri Lanka for the exotic Rambutan fruit that grows in the area, Malwana forms part of the Biyagama free-trade zone, where government incentives has drawn investors from around the world into manufacturing ventures involving clothing and light industry. Malwana Muslim area exist with several sub-areas as well as Raxapana, Vidanagoda, Malwana- Town, Daluggala, Thottam, Pallam, Kandawatta, Burulapitiya, Rajamalwatta, Malwatta, Walgama, Ulahitiwala, Pelangahawatta, Paaluwatta, Yatihena and other areas Yabaraluwa, Mapitigama, Barukanda, Wekanda, Nagahawatta.

Biyagama (Sinhala: බියගම, Tamil: பியகம) is a suburb in Gampaha District, situated in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is 12 miles from Colombo. A Free Trade Zone was established in Biyagama in 1985. "Kaduwela" interchange of expressway is located on Biyagama to Peliyagoda road.

Kadawatha (or Kadawata) (Sinhala: කඩවත Tamil: கடவத) is a large suburb of Gampaha, in the Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is situated on the A1 highway, approximately 16 km (9.9 mi) away from the centre of Colombo. Industrial machines, factories, diesel motor houses, strategic investments and leisure destinations are some of the industries established there. Kadawatha is a collection of many ruralities, including Biyagama, Mahara, Ganemulla, Kirillawala, Rammuthugala, Dalupitiya, Karagahamuna (upper and lower), Biyanwila (upper and lower) and Kirimatiyagaraya. Kadawatha is mainly administrated by the Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha and some parts by the Biyagama Pradeshiya Sabha. It is a structured and infrastructure-rich Colombo suburb with the several Schools, Buddhist temples and Catholic and Christian churches. Demographically, Kadawatha area is predominantly Sinhalese and partially Tamils with a majority of them being Buddhists but there is a sizable Catholic and Hindu minority. Along with recent expressway developments within the island Kadawatha has been selected as a major Colombo Expressway interchange which connects Southern, Airport and Central expressway. The recently built Kadawatha city bypass has added great convenience to motorists. The new Court complex, now in operation, is close to city bypass.

The Lakdhanavi Power Station (also sometimes referred to as the Lakdhanavi Sapugaskanda Power Station) is a 24 MW thermal power station built in Sapugaskanda, Sri Lanka. Operated by Lakdhanavi (Private) Limited, it is one of three power stations in the Sapugaskanda region, the other two being the government-owned 160 MW Sapugaskanda Power Station, and the 51 MW Asia Power Sapugaskanda Power Station.

The Biyagama Water Treatment Plant or BWTP is a water treatment facility located at the bank of Kelani River, in Biyagama, Sri Lanka. At a daily output capacity of 160,000,000 L/d (1,900,000 L/ks), it is the second largest water treatment facility in the country. The plant provides drinking water to approximately one million people, in Wattala, Ja-Ela, Kelaniya, Biyagama, Ragama, Kandana, Kadawatha, Kiribathgoda, Seeduwa and Ganemulla, within the Gampaha District. Construction of the facility began on 22 October 2008. It was ceremonially inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapakse on 22 July 2013. The facility uses raw water from the Kelani River. The maximum water loss during the purification process is 5%, due to raw water transmission, sludge de-watering and backwash.
