Lakdhanavi Power Station

The Asia Power Sapugaskanda Power Station (also sometimes referred to as Asia Power Station) is a 51 MW thermal power station in Sapugaskanda, Sri Lanka. Planning for the fuel oil-run power station dated back to 1994, when the Ceylon Electricity Board issued a tender for an IPP project for 50 megawatts. Construction of the plant began in 1996 and was commissioned in June 1998, with a PPA of 20-years. The power station utilizes eight Deutz 16V BVM 640 generating units.

The Sapugaskanda is a 160 megawatt power station located in Sapugaskanda, adjacent to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. The power station consists of twelve generating units, supplied by MAN, and Siemens. Four of the units are rated at 20 MW, while the remaining eight are rated at 10 MW. The power station is operated by the Ceylon Electricity Board. Units 1-2 were commissioned in May 1984, unit 3 in September 1984, unit 4 in October 1984. These four 20 MW units make up the Sapugaskanda-A division. Units 5-8 were commissioned in September 1997, and units 8–12 in October 1999, which together make up the Sapugaskanda-B division. All units run on diesel.

The Sapugaskanda Refinery (also referred to as Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery) is the single largest oil refinery of Sri Lanka. The refinery was built in August 1969 by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation under the guidance of Iran, initially designed to process 38,000 barrels (6,000 m3) per stream day of Dubai crude oil, and Arabian light crude oil. (Medium sour crude oil) It was commissioned on 12 October 1969. The facility, which covers an area of 165 acres (67 ha), currently has a capacity of 50,000 barrels (7,900 m3) per stream day. As with most refineries, the Sapugaskanda Refinery has an in-house utilities section which supplies electricity, water, steam, instrument air, and other necessities for operations. In total, 65 storage tanks are located at the premises for storage of crude oil, finished, and other products, five of which has a capacity of 40,000 tonnes (39,000 long tons). A further four crude oil tanks located in the separate Orugodawatta tank farm.

The Biyagama Water Treatment Plant or BWTP is a water treatment facility located at the bank of Kelani River, in Biyagama, Sri Lanka. At a daily output capacity of 160,000,000 L/d (1,900,000 L/ks), it is the second largest water treatment facility in the country. The plant provides drinking water to approximately one million people, in Wattala, Ja-Ela, Kelaniya, Biyagama, Ragama, Kandana, Kadawatha, Kiribathgoda, Seeduwa and Ganemulla, within the Gampaha District. Construction of the facility began on 22 October 2008. It was ceremonially inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapakse on 22 July 2013. The facility uses raw water from the Kelani River. The maximum water loss during the purification process is 5%, due to raw water transmission, sludge de-watering and backwash.

The Battle of Mulleriyawa (Sinhala: මුල්ලේරියාව සටන) in 1559 was part of the Sinhalese–Portuguese War. It was one of the most decisive battles in Sri Lankan history and considered as the worst defeat of Portuguese during that period. According to local chronicles the marshlands of Mulleriyawa turned red with blood after the annihilation of the Portuguese. With this victory Sitawaka emerged as a military power which was able to challenge the Portuguese expansion.

Mulleriyawa (මුල්ලේරියාව) is a city in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It has a population of 33,540.

Kelaniya (Sinhala: කැලණිය Tamil: களனி) is a suburb of Colombo in the Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is known for the Buddhist temple built on the banks of the Kelani River, which divides the suburb from Colombo District. The temple is also a religious centre for veneration of the figures Vibhishana and Avalokiteshvara.

The A 1 road (commonly known as the Colombo - Kandy Road or just the Kandy Road) is an A-Grade trunk road in Sri Lanka. It connects the capital city of Colombo with Kandy.

Angoda (Sinhala: අංගොඩ, Tamil: அங்கோடா) is a village in Colombo District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is famous for the National Institute of Mental Health.

The Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara or Kelaniya Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. It is located 11 km (6.8 mi) north-east of Colombo. The current chief incumbent (chief priest) is Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera. The temple has often been associated with the rise and fall of Sri Lanka, with the popular saying that as the Kelaniya temple rose, Sri Lanka rose and as it fell, the country and its administration fell. It has thus had a deep association with the political powers of the country. As such, the temple is frequently visited by politicians both government and opposition.

Kotikawatta is a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka, situated east of the Colombo central business district. It is a fast developing administrative, commercial, and residential area in Colombo District.
