Bargeddie

Bargeddie railway station is located in the village of Bargeddie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, situated between the city of Glasgow and the town of Coatbridge. It opened in 1993 under British Rail and SPTE, and is on the site of an earlier station called 'Drumpark'. It is on the Whifflet Line (a branch of the more extensive Argyle Line), 9¼ miles (15 km) east of Glasgow Central railway station. Train services are provided by ScotRail.

Bargeddie was a railway station in the village of Bargeddie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It was opened as Cuilhill, by the North British Railway on 1 February 1871. It was renamed Bargeddie on 1 April 1904.The station closed to passengers on 24 September 1927.

Drumpark School was a school for children with special educational needs at Bargeddie just west of Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. In August 2012, the primary department (5 to 11 years) of Drumpark School moved to their new campus, shared with Greenhill Primary School and incorporated into the vacated buildings of Coatbridge High School, retaining the Drumpark name. The secondary department (11 to 17 years) moved to a new campus shared with St Ambrose High School on 5 November 2012, changing its name to Buchanan High School.

A8(M) is a motorway in Glasgow, Scotland. It was opened in 2016 after the Scottish Government proposed that the Baillieston Roundabout should be the motorway standard and that the A8 was not up to motorway standards. Work on its construction started in early 2015 to upgrade the road. It is the shortest motorway in the United Kingdom. There is no signage of the A8(M) but signposted as the A8 link from the M73 and M8. It does however retain its motorway status.

Birkenshaw is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, to the east of Glasgow, and in proximity to Uddingston, Tannochside and Viewpark. Historically part of Lanarkshire Birkenshaw is largely a housing estate, but is more widely known for the Birkenshaw trading estate, popular with couples on weekends for its range of DIY, electrical and furniture stores. Birkenshaw is considered as part of Viewpark and is contained within the Greater Glasgow conurbation. It gained some notoriety after Peter Manuel, the "beast of Birkenshaw", committed some murders there.

Tannochside is a settlement approximately 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Glasgow, Scotland. Although historically considered part of Uddingston, it lies within a separate local authority area: Tannochside is contained within the boundaries of North Lanarkshire council (situated between the Birkenshaw and Viewpark neighbourhoods in the Thorniewood ward), whereas the original village of Uddingston is in South Lanarkshire. Tannochside is part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation. It is often debated as to where the borders lie between Tannochside and other nearby areas. One suggested border is Aitkenhead Road, a main road which splits housing areas adjacent to Scotmid and a local water tower.

Drumpellier Country Park is a country park situated to the west of Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The park was formerly a private estate. The land was given over to the Burgh of Coatbridge for use as a public park in 1919, and was designated as a country park in 1984 by the then Monklands council, part of Strathclyde. The park covers an area of 500 acres (2.0 km2) and comprises two natural lochs (one of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)), lowland heath, mixed woodlands and open grassland. The Monkland Canal lies towards the southern perimeter of the park. The lochs and the canal attract many water birds, both resident (such as swans and mallard ducks) and over-wintering migrants, and the loch shores and woodland floor provides an abundance of wild flora. The woodlands are also rich in bird life, small wild animals and many types of fungi.The lochs at Drumpellier are part of a chain of kettle ponds formed towards the end of the last ice age. As the glacier that covered most of Scotland slipped down towards the sea it churned up great tracts of land. This created the great lochs, such as Lomond and Linnhe, and also produced small pockets of water such as the Garnkirk chain of Hogganfield, Frankfield and the Bishops Lochs (an SSI that comes under Glasgow City Councils administration) that include Drumpellier's Lochs, Woodend and Lochend. The loch side path is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) long and it is suitable for bikes. Since July 2019 the park has been the location of Drumpellier Country Parkrun.

Uddingston West railway station served the town of Uddingston in South Lanarkshire on the Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge Railway between Shettleston and Hamilton.

Buchanan High School is an additional support needs secondary school in the Townhead neighbourhood of Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Replacing the previous facility Drumpark School established in the 1920s (the name of which continues in a separate ASN primary school in the town), the school opened on 5 November 2012 and shares a campus with St Ambrose Roman Catholic High School and Townhead Community Centre. The school has over 100 pupils.The Head of School since 2017 is Mr M. McGinley. The inaugural head, from 2012 until 2016, was Mrs M. Fannan who was succeeded by Mrs J. Gilmartin from 2016 to 2017. In 2019, teachers at the school went out on strike to highlight serious concerns over health issues – the shared campus was built on a former industrial landfill site, with the water table observed to be contaminated and discoloured; four teachers developed cancer and it was feared this was linked to the conditions at the school.

Maryville railway station (NS687620) was opened in 1878 at Maryville, a small community in the Uddingston area to the south-east of Glasgow, Scotland on the old Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge Railway between Shettleston and Hamilton. Clydeside and Bredisholm collieries were also served by the station.

Kirkwood railway station is located in the Kirkwood area of Coatbridge, Scotland. It is on the Whifflet Line (a branch of the more extensive Argyle Line), 10 miles (16 km) east of Glasgow Central railway station. Train services are provided by ScotRail. The station was opened by British Rail in 1993, and is virtually on the site of the old Woodside Steel and Iron Works. It is located some 250m west of the previous Langloan station, which was opened by the Rutherglen and Coatbridge Railway in August 1866 and closed when passenger trains over the line were withdrawn on 7 November 1966.

Swinton is an eastern suburb of the Scottish city of Glasgow, north of the areas of Baillieston and Garrowhill and east of Springhill. It is now concurrent with the 19th century Easterhouse village (whereas the large housing scheme of the same name lies across the M8 motorway to the north of Swinton). The hamlet of Swinton began to emerge with the building of cotton hand loom weavers' cottages in the early 1790s. A housing development was constructed in the 1920s, with more in the 1970s, but most of the current neighbourhood was built from the 1990s onwards. Easterhouse railway station gives direct access to the centre of Glasgow and regular local bus services run along Edinburgh Road to the south of the district. Swinton Primary School serves the local area (and Springhill), and from here pupils attend Bannerman High School in Baillieston.
