In 2009, Uddingston Grammar moved to a new campus nearby (on the site of its former playing fields) as part of South Lanarkshire Council's school modernisation programme; the oldest of the existing buildings was converted into apartments as part of a residential development.The school's catchment area includes the communities of Uddingston, Bothwell, Birkenshaw, Tannochside, Viewpark and recently parts of Newton in Cambuslang.The school's roll is approximately 1175 pupils as of September 2013, with approximately 90 teaching staff (FTE).

Situated immediately north-east of Uddingston (but on the other side of the M74 motorway), Viewpark is two kilometres (1+1⁄4 miles) west of Bellshill. It has an estimated population of 13,916 in 2016, a figure which also includes the smaller adjoining neighbourhoods of Birkenshaw, Bellziehill, Calderbraes, Fallside and Tannochside under the Thorniewood ward of the local council.

Bargeddie railway station is located in the village of Bargeddie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, situated between the city of Glasgow and the town of Coatbridge. It opened in 1993 under British Rail and SPTE, and is on the site of an earlier station called 'Drumpark'. It is on the Whifflet Line (a branch of the more extensive Argyle Line), 9¼ miles (15 km) east of Glasgow Central railway station. Train services are provided by ScotRail.

Bothwell Castle Policies Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Uddingston, Scotland, and is named after the nearby Bothwell Castle. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1902 when Uddingston played a friendly against Gloucestershire. 110 years later the ground held its first List A match when Scotland played Glamorgan in the 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40. A further List A match was held there in that same competition, with Hampshire the visitors. Bothwell Castle was given these games due to damage caused by vandalism at Mannofield Park in Aberdeen, which was originally to host the two matches.The ground is still used by Uddingston Cricket Club, where the first team lose regularly, whilst the second team are undefeated in a long time.
