Estrela Basilica

Estrela (Portuguese pronunciation: [(ɨ)ʃˈtɾelɐ]) is a freguesia (civil parish) and district of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Located in the historic center of Lisbon, Estrela is south of Campo de Ourique, west of Misericórdia, and east of Alcântara. The population in 2011 was 20,128.

Located in the historic center of Lisbon, Campo de Ourique is east of Alcântara, north of Estrela, west of Santo António, and south of Campolide. The population in 2011 was 22,120.

The Museu da Marioneta (Museum of Puppetry) has been located since November 2001 in the Convent of Bernardas in Lisbon, Portugal, establishing itself as the first museum in Portugal entirely dedicated to the interpretation and dissemination of the history of puppetry, covering the history of this art form across the world, presenting the different types of puppets and the different approaches they allow, with special emphasis on Portuguese puppets. The museum's collection has been gradually extended and diversified, illustrating the different theatrical forms that derive from ancient traditions or emerge from contemporary artistic searches, exploring new forms, new materials and new techniques. This extension was possible only with the participation of different personalities, authors, collectors and puppeteers who, with us, embraced this project, giving their invaluable contribution through the transfer of their estates, to which the Museum gratefully acknowledges. At first, it was kept tonic accent in the national universe, being able to be proud of integrating one of the most significant and comprehensive collections of Portuguese traditional puppetry. Since late 2008, the doors were opened to the world with the host, on deposit, the exceptional and vast collection of puppets and masks of Southeast Asia and Africa of the collector Francisco Capelo.

São Bento Palace (Portuguese: Palácio de São Bento "Saint Benedict's Palace") in Lisbon is the seat of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, the parliament of Portugal. Originally constructed in 1598, São Bento has served as the seat of Portugal's parliament since 1834, when the former monastery of the Benedictine Order was dissolved after the Liberal Wars. During the Portuguese constitutional monarchy, the palace served as the seat of the Cortes Gerais, the traditional parliaments of Portugal, until 1910. São Bento Mansion, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Portugal, is located within the grounds of São Bento Palace.

Santos-o-Velho (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈsɐ̃tuz‿u ˈvɛ.ʎu]) is a former freguesia (civil parish) of Lisbon, Portugal, with an area of 0.51 km2 and 4,013 inhabitants (2001). It has a population density of 7899.6 inhabitants/km2. At the administrative reorganization of Lisbon on 8 December 2012 it became part of the parish Estrela.It is one of the best preserved historical parts of Lisbon, including Madragoa (former village in the outskirts of Central Lisbon), the Museum of Ancient Art, and many former convents and palaces (in which the current French Embassy in included). Well-known streets of this parish are Rua das Trinas, Rua do Guarda-Mor, Rua do Quelhas, Rua das Praças, and Avenida 24 de Julho. It is also known for its lively nightlife.

St Andrew's Church is the only congregation of the Church of Scotland in Portugal. It seeks to provide English-speaking Reformed Christian worship and pastoral care to a multinational community.
