Barcelona Sants railway station

Plaça dels Països Catalans is a square in Barcelona (the capital of Catalonia, Spain) on one side of the city's central railway station, Estació de Sants, in the district of Sants-Montjuïc. It borders carrer de Tarragona, carrer de Numància and Avinguda Roma. It was so named in 1989 after the Catalan Countries.The square was inaugurated in its current form in 1983, built over the station rail yard, and it is notable for its lack of vegetation. Architects Helio Piñon and Albert Vilaplana were awarded that year's FAD Prize by the Foment de les Arts i el Disseny.The central part of the square features two copper roofs sustained by a number of tall supporting columns. Architecturally it is dominated by the station and the high-rise Torre Catalunya with its trademark Sony spire. Barcelona's main prison, La Model, is at a short distance and its panoptikon dome be seen from it. The square is popular with skaters, and demonstrators have often gathered there, most infamously by ultra far-right groups during the 1990s and early 2000s.Under the name The destruction of the Plaça dels Països Catalans an exhibition took place at the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya in 2011 documenting the effects of urban decay in the area in stark contrast with the architects' original concept and intentions.

La España Industrial, (Catalan: L'Espanya Industrial), was a cotton textile company founded 1847, and which built its primary factory (known as Vapor nou) in the village of Santa María de Sans (modern day Sants). It was not only the first joint-stock company (Spanish: sociedad anónima) created in Spain for cotton manufacturing, but it was also the first company to undertake all aspects (carding, spinning, weaving and finishing) under one roof. It was for many years, the largest and most innovative cotton manufacturer in Spain. It was formed in 1847, grew to 2,500 employees in late 19th century, consolidated factories in the 1970s and finally closed its doors for good in 1981.

Sants Estació is a station in the Barcelona Metro network in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona. It serves the Barcelona Sants railway station, Barcelona's principal main line railway station, and is named Sants Estació to distinguish it from the nearby Plaça de Sants station also named after the Sants neighbourhood. It is served by line L3 and line L5.The line L3 section of the station is situated under Numància street, between Melcior Palau and Avinguda Josep Tarradellas. It has a hall at each side of the station. To access to the railway station it is necessary to go through line 5 hall. The station is equipped with numerous elevators, and has two side platforms that are 95 metres (312 ft) in length.The line L5 section of the station was opened in 1969 with the opening of the line between Collblanc and Diagonal. The metro station is situated on the north part of the railway station, between Guitard and Enric Bargés streets. The station is complex but has an own hall on the west side which has two direct accesses to the railway station. It has two side platforms that are 94 metres (308 ft) in length. On the other side of the station there is the corridor to connect with line 3.Sants Estació is one of three stations where lines L3 and L5 connect, the others being Diagonal and Vall d'Hebron metro stations. Like both these two stations, the platforms of the two lines at Sants Estació are connected by an underground passageway. However, unlike the other two, there is also a single track connection between the two lines at Sants Estació.The line L5 station was opened in 1969 with the opening of the line between Collblanc and Diagonal, whilst the line L3 station followed in 1975 with the opening of the line from this station to Zona Universitària. A second access hall to the L3 station was added in 2004.

The Nobu Hotel Barcelona, formerly the Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya, is a skyscraper and hotel in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Completed in 1970, has 25 floors and rises 100 metres (including mast) and 80 metres without mast. It is located near Barcelona Sants Railway Station, Plaça d'Espanya and three other skyscrapers: Edificio Allianz, Edificio Tarragona, Torre Núñez y Navarro. It was renamed Nobu Hotel Barcelona in 2019, following a major renovation.

The Pavelló de l'Espanya Industrial (English: Industrial Spain Pavilion), currently named Centre Esportiu Municipal l'Espanya Industrial is a building located in Barcelona. Completed in 1991, it hosted the weightlifting competitions for the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Edifici Tarragona is a skyscraper in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Completed in 1998, has 22 floors and rises 78 metres. Lies on Carrer de Tarragona street 159, near Plaça d'Espanya and three other skyscrapers: Edificio Allianz, Hotel Torre Catalunya, Torre Núñez y Navarro.

Hostafrancs is a neighbourhood in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.Originally the land of the neighbourhood belonged to the former municipality of Santa Maria de Sants, the current district. In 1839 the Provincial Council was to disassociate the sector was the Pont d'en Rabassa Cross to cover for him in Barcelona. The Hostafrancs metro station, on Barcelona Metro line L1, is located in the middle of the neighbourhood. The Plaça d'Espanya, along with the Espanya metro and railway station, lies on the eastern edge of the neighbourhood. Barcelona's main Sants railway station is just outside the neighbourhood, to the north.

Cárcel Modelo, also known as Cárcel Celular, was the main prison for men in Madrid at the turn of the 20th century. Located in the Moncloa-Aravaca district, it was inaugurated in 1884 after seven years of construction and replaced the 18th century Cárcel del Saladero. The name "Modelo" derived from its standing as a model for other Spanish prisons. The prison operated through 1939, when it was shuttered and demolished after being damaged during the Spanish Civil War.

Tarragona is a station in the Barcelona Metro network in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona. It is served by line L3 (green line).The station is located under Carrer de Tarragona between Carrer de València and Carrer d'Aragó, not far from Barcelona Sants railway station. Station entrances are situated at the junctions of the Carrer de Tarragona with Carrer de València, Carrer d'Aragó, Carrer de l'Elisi and Carrer de Sant Nicolau. In the vestibule served by the southern entrance is the artwork Tres Boles by José Luis Carcedo Vidal. At the lower level, the station has two tracks served by two side platforms.The station opened in 1975, along with the other stations of the section of L3 between Paral·lel and Sants Estació stations. This section was originally operated separately from L3, and known as L3b, until the two sections were joined in 1982.

The station is served by lines L1 and L5.The line L1 platforms are located below the Carrer de Sants between the Carrer d'Alcolea and the Carrer de Guadiana, and comprise two 88-metre (289 ft) long side platforms. The line L5 platforms are some 200 metres (660 ft) to the west, under the Plaça de Sants between the Carrer de Sants and the Carrer Galileu, and comprise two 94-metre (308 ft) long side platforms. The two sets of platforms are linked by an underground corridor, and there are six station accesses on the Plaça de Sants and Carrer de Sants.Plaça de Sants metro station lies some 10 minutes walk from Barcelona's main Sants railway station, which is better served by the Sants Estació metro station on lines L3 and L5.The L1 part of the station is on the original section of line L1 (then the Ferrocarril Metropolitano Transversal de Barcelona) between Catalunya and Bordeta stations, which was opened in 1926. Plaça del Centre, also known as Plaza del Centro, is a station in the Barcelona Metro network, on the border between the Les Corts and Sants-Montjuïc districts of Barcelona. It is served by line L3 (green line).The station takes its name from a nearby square, and is located in the intersection of the streets Avinguda de Madrid, Carrer de Berlin, Carrer dels Comtes de Bell-lloc and Carrer de Vallespir, a short walk away from the major railway station Estació de Sants. The station's two side platforms are 94 metres (308 ft) long.The station opened in 1975, along with the other stations of the section of L3 between Zona Universitària and Sants Estació stations. This section was originally operated separately from L3, and known as L3b, until the two sections were joined in 1982. When opened, the station was known by the Spanish-language name Plaza del Centro, but 1982 the name was adapted to its current Catalan language form.
