The village Ebersroda has been proposed by Germany for inscription in the List of World Heritage. The World Heritage nomination Naumburg Cathedral and the High Medieval Cultural Landscape of the Rivers Saale and Unstrut is representative for the processes that shaped the continent during the High Middle Ages between 1000 and 1300: Christianization, the so-called “Landesausbau” and the dynamics of cultural exchange and transfer characteristic for this very period.

Zscheiplitz is a village in the southern part of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, and includes a former Benedictine Monastery.

The Pforta monastery is a former Cistercian monastery located near Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was established in the 1130s and prospered in the Middle Ages. In the course of the Reformation the monastery was disbanded in 1540. Today the buildings are used by the school Landesschule Pforta. The site is located on the tourist route Romanesque Road and has been nominated by Germany for inclusion in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Balgstädt is a municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 2009 it has incorporated the former municipalities of Burkersroda, Größnitz and Hirschroda.

The Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Memorial Gymnasium (in German Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Erinnerungsturnhalle) in Freyburg, Germany, is a listed historic building that combines a gymnasium with a memorial. It was built in 1894 in the Neo-Romanesque style to commemorate Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778–1852), the founder of the German gymnastics movement. The design was created by architect Georg Weidenbach from Leipzig, and the site chosen was the former cemetery located outside the Obertor gate. During construction, Jahn’s remains were transferred in March 1894 to a specially constructed crypt beneath the northwestern gable of the gymnasium. The initiative for the building came from the Deutsche Turnerschaft (German Gymnastics Association) along with private supporters. Upon completion, the gymnasium was presented as a gift from the Deutsche Turnerschaft to the town of Freyburg. Today, it is regarded as an important architectural testament to the gymnastics and commemorative culture of the late 19th century.

Freyburg is a town in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the river Unstrut, 9 km northwest of Hanseatic Naumburg, 63 km from Leipzig and 231 km from Berlin. One of the most prosperous towns in the region, Freyburg is nicknamed "Tuscany of the North" It is the headquarters of one of the world's largest wine companies.The town and the castle of Freyburg are part of the World Heritage designation "Naumburg Cathedral and the High Medieval Cultural Landscape of the Rivers Saale and Unstrut".

Unstruttal is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Burgenlandkreis (district), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Before 1 January 2010, it was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft. It is situated along the river Unstrut, approx. 50 km west of Leipzig. The seat of the Verbandsgemeinde is in Freyburg. The Verbandsgemeinde Unstruttal consists of the following municipalities: Balgstädt Freyburg Gleina Goseck Karsdorf Laucha an der Unstrut Nebra

Laucha an der Unstrut (English: Laucha on the Unstrut) is a town in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the river Unstrut, 13 kilometres (8 mi) northwest of Naumburg and 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Freyburg. It is part of the Verbandsgemeinde (collective municipality) of Unstruttal and is in the Saale-Unstrut wine region. On 1 July 2009 it absorbed the former municipalities Burgscheidungen and Kirchscheidungen.
