Laucha an der Unstrut (English: Laucha on the Unstrut) is a town in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the river Unstrut, 13 kilometres (8 mi) northwest of Naumburg and 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Freyburg. It is part of the Verbandsgemeinde (collective municipality) of Unstruttal and is in the Saale-Unstrut wine region. On 1 July 2009 it absorbed the former municipalities Burgscheidungen and Kirchscheidungen.

The Pforta monastery is a former Cistercian monastery located near Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was established in the 1130s and prospered in the Middle Ages. In the course of the Reformation the monastery was disbanded in 1540. Today the buildings are used by the school Landesschule Pforta. The site is located on the tourist route Romanesque Road and has been nominated by Germany for inclusion in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

The village of Großwilsdorf and the Rödel Plateau are situated in Saxony-Anhalt in the middle of Germany. It has been proposed by Germany as a World Heritage Site. Burgscheidungen is a village and a former municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 July 2009, it is part of the town Laucha an der Unstrut. Burgscheidungen was the site of the Saxon Hadugato's defeat of the Thuringians under King Irminfrid in 531. This defeat spelled the end of an independent Thuringian kingdom. It is variously attributed to the Franks under King Theuderic I or to their allies, the Saxons under Duke Hathagat. It was one of the founding myths of the Saxons by the ninth century.

Kirchscheidungen is a village and a former municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 July 2009, it is part of the town Laucha an der Unstrut. Kirchscheidungen is situated on the river Unstrut in the Saale-Unstrut wine region. For tourists, there is a campsite and a canoe rental on the river. The village is served by a railway station.
