The Church of the Holy Name in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is a historic church built during 1913 to 1926. The church was designed by architect Arthur W. Holmes to resemble the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. It is asserted to be "unchallenged as the Danforth's most impressive architectural landmark."The Church of the Holy Name is located on The Danforth, slightly west of Pape Avenue. Historically, Danforth Avenue started off as a sleepy byway, with large stretches of open fields. The dirt road became dusty in the summer and muddy during wet weather. Over time the Danforth streetscape evolved to consist of scattered houses, the occasional church, most notably Church of the Holy Name, and the occasional hotel.The Church of the Holy Name has remained an architectural landmark along Danforth Avenue.

Greektown, also known as The Danforth, is a commercial-residential neighbourhood and ethnic enclave in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on Danforth Avenue, between Chester Avenue and Dewhurst Boulevard, in east Toronto. Named after Asa Danforth, Jr., an American contractor who designed Queen Street and Kingston Road, the area is known for its architecture dating back to as early as 1910, and for its number of Greek restaurants and stores. The area was one of the major settlement areas of Greek immigrants to Toronto after World War I.

It lies to the east of Downtown Toronto. The riding is represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by Peter Tabuns of the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP). Toronto—Danforth includes an array of ethnicities, including large Greek, Chinese, Muslim and East-Indian communities. The northern portion of the riding, East York, tends to lean right-of-centre, while the southern half, including Riverdale, Leslieville and Riverside, usually swings to the left.The name of the electoral district was changed in 2000 from "Broadview—Greenwood" to "Toronto—Danforth" on the suggestion of Dennis Mills, the riding's federal Member of Parliament. Many local citizens were upset at the name change, particularly due to the lack of public say in the matter.In 2003, it was given its current boundaries, which consist of the part of the City of Toronto bounded on the south by Lake Ontario and Toronto Harbour, on the east by Coxwell Avenue and Coxwell Boulevard, on the north by Taylor Creek and the Don River East Branch, and on the west by the Don River.

It lies to the east of Downtown Toronto. Its best-known MP was New Democratic Party (NDP) leader and Leader of the Opposition Jack Layton. Toronto—Danforth includes an array of ethnicities, including large Greek, Chinese, Muslim and South Asian communities. It has the highest percentage of ethnic Greeks among all Toronto ridings (7.3%). Historically, the riding has tilted to the left, particularly since the 1990s. Most election contests take place between the NDP and the Liberal Party. Even with the end of vote-splitting on the centre-right, the Conservatives are almost nonexistent in the riding; no Conservative candidate has crossed the 15 percent mark. The NDP held the riding for the first nine years of its existence before Liberal Dennis Mills won the seat in 1988 and held it during the long period of Liberal dominance of the federal scene. He was unseated in 2004 by Layton, who had previously run against Mills in 1997. Layton held the seat until his death on August 22, 2011. The seat was vacant until a by-election on March 29, 2012, which was won by NDP candidate and human rights lawyer Craig Scott. However, Scott was narrowly defeated by Liberal Julie Dabrusin in the 2015 election in a major upset.

Withrow Park is a 8.5-hectare (21-acre) park in the Riverdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Laid out and constructed in the 1910s, at the same time that the surrounding community was built, Withrow Park is among Toronto's large multi-purpose parks. The park is bounded by Carlaw Avenue on the east, Bain Avenue on the south, Logan Avenue on the west and McConnell Avenue on the north. Withrow Park is named after John Jacob Withrow (1833–1900), a local landowner and builder, who also served as a city alderman and was one of the founders of what would become the Canadian National Exhibition.The park gained nationwide notoriety in 2004 when hot dogs laced with carbofuran were left in the park, killing one dog and poisoning 15 others. While the poisonings were under criminal investigation, the City closed most of Withrow Park by surrounding it with a chain-link fence, causing controversy in the neighbourhood. No charges were ever laid.In February 2008, the Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey team held a practice in Withrow Park, to mark the recent refurbishment of the park's ice rink and related facilities.

CHTO (1690 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station airs an ethnic radio format. It is owned by Canadian Hellenic Toronto Radio Inc., which is run by John Maniatakos and son of Peter Maniatakos who owns the Odyssey Television Network. CHTO's programming is predominantly Greek, although it is mandated to air programming in other languages as well. CHTO's radio studios are on Danforth Avenue in the Riverdale neighbourhood. By day, CHTO is powered at 6,000 watts. But to avoid interference to other radio stations, at night it reduces power to 1,000 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna. The transmitter is on Waterman Avenue at Hollinger Road in the O'Connor-Parkview neighbourhood near the Don River. It also is heard on a repeater station, CHTO-1 at 1490 kHz in Mississauga.

Kempton Howard Park is located in the Blake-Jones area of Riverdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the southwest corner of Strathcona Avenue and Blake Street, directly adjacent to the Eastview Neighbourhood Community Centre, home of the Eastview Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada. The park has a variety of outdoor amenities, including a baseball diamond, an outdoor wading pool and a playground. The park's primary use is for baseball games, and has a wired field screen as a part of the baseball diamond, open year-round for the public. The baseball diamond is listed under the Classification C type, given its relatively small size and unirrigated turf.

The 2018 Toronto shooting, known locally as the Danforth shooting, was a mass shooting that occurred on Danforth Avenue in the Greektown neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the night of July 22, 2018. Faisal Hussain killed two people and wounded thirteen using a Smith & Wesson M&P .40-calibre handgun. He died by suicide after a shootout with Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers. Despite a year long investigation, authorities were unable to determine a motive for the shooting.
