Darby Generating Station is a 480 megawatt (MW), natural gas peaker plant located in Darby Township, Pickaway County near Mount Sterling, Ohio. The plant is currently owned by Lightstone Generation LLC, a 50-50 joint venture of The Blackstone Group and ArcLight Capital Partners. The plant has six units and began operations in 2001.

Robtown is an unincorporated community in Pickaway County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. The area is located approximately five miles west of South Bloomfield, Ohio and three miles northeast of Darbyville, Ohio, on the banks of Grave Run, a tributary of the Scioto River, and at the crossroads of Ohio State Route 316 and Turney Caldwell Road.

The W. C. Clemmons Mound is a Native American mound in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Located near the unincorporated community of Fox, it lies in the middle of a farm field near a creek. A cone measuring approximately 22 feet (6.7 m) high and 144 feet (44 m) in diameter, its shape is almost exactly circular.The mound is significant as a potential archaeological site. Although it has never been excavated, its location has led archaeologists to conclude that it was built by people of the Adena culture, who constructed many burial mounds for their leaders; typical Adena mounds contain log tombs that house the bodies of high-ranking members of society along with plentiful grave goods. Because the mound has never been excavated, it is exceedingly well preserved; perhaps no other mound in Pickaway County has been so little changed since the region was settled.In 1974, the Clemmons mound was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, due to its archaeological value.

Pickaway County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,539. Its county seat is Circleville. The Pickaway Correctional Institution is a state prison located in Scioto Township, Pickaway County, just outside Orient, Ohio, United States which mostly houses minimum and medium security inmates. PCI was opened as a prison in 1984 after the buildings which formerly housed a facility for Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities had been closed. Although the structures were not built to house prisoners, Warden James Jackson modified the condemned buildings into secure housing for inmates. The prison houses 2107 inmates and 511 staff members (out of which 249 are the security staff). Inmates have an opportunity to take classes at Sinclair Community College or learn the printing trade at the OPI Print Shop. In 2000, former Ohio First Lady Hope Taft approached the Warden about establishing a reading room for the children who visited their incarcerated parents. The reading room opened within a few years and includes an inmate narrator who reads to the visiting children twice a day.As of August 2022 the warden is Rochelle Moore. The most notorious inmates of this prison were Posteal Laskey Jr., the Cincinnati Strangler, until his death by natural causes on May 29, 2007. In 2017, the prison made headlines, as 4 inmates overdosed on opioids in a 2-day period.In 2020, the prison again made national headlines as the second largest hotspot of diagnosed COVID-19 cases in the US.

The Correctional Reception Center is a state prison for men located in Orient, Pickaway County, Ohio, opened in 1987, owned and operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.The facility holds a maximum of 1500 inmates at various security levels. The prison is immediately adjacent to the state's Pickaway Correctional Institution. Ariel Castro committed suicide while incarcerated at the facility in September 2013.
