Loggerheads is a village in Denbighshire, Wales on the River Alyn, a tributary of the River Dee. It is the location of Loggerheads Country Park which follows the course of the River Alyn through karstic limestone countryside including the sites of old lead mines and mills. There is a working flour mill on site. A leat or leete, built around 1824, follows the side of the valley nearby and was used to carry water to the lead mines of Mold Mines, on land owned by the Grosvenor family. It is now the popular Leete Walk. The name Loggerheads may come from the dispute over estate boundaries between the lordships of Mold and Llanferres. The final boundary is marked by Carreg Carn March Arthur which is said to bear the imprint of Arthur's horse's hoof after it jumped from the nearby mountain, Moel Famau. The local pub has a sign showing two men grimacing at each other with the words We Three Loggerheads, taken from a painting by Richard Wilson. The third loggerhead was the viewer.

Loggerheads Country Park is a country park in the village of Loggerheads, Denbighshire, Wales. The park has a wooded river valley that follows the course of the River Alyn and high cliffs from within the Clwydian Range of mountains, with views of the range's tallest mountain Moel Famau. The park has a visitor centre, woodland walks, and two landmarks—a historic corn mill called Pentre Mill, and a gorge called Devil's Gorge.

Cadole is a village in Flintshire, Wales. It lies west of Gwernymynydd and Mold (Yr Wyddgrug), south of Gwernaffield and to the east of the Clwydian Range, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.The name appears as Cat-hole, Cat Hole and Cathole on eighteenth century maps, and the village was still known by this name in living memory. The Place-Names of Flintshire states that the name was deliberately changed to its modern spelling following the gentrification of the area, so that the name could be derived from the Welsh place name elements 'Cae' (field) and 'Dôl' (meadow). One reason often given for this deliberate change was that English incomers found the name Cat-hole (or its English homographs) to be unseemly.

Pot Hole quarry (also known as Pothole quarry or Three Springs quarry) is a former limestone quarry close to Llanferres, near Mold, in Denbighshire, North Wales. The quarry is popular with rock climbers due to its rural setting, ease of access and selection of routes on good quality limestone. The average height of the quarried rock is approximately 12 metres (39 ft).

Bryn Alyn is a hill and Site of Special Scientific Interest in Denbighshire, North Wales, and forms part of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bryn Alyn lies in the community of Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, to the east of the River Alyn, with the valley of Dyffryn Alyn separating it from the main range of the Clwydian hills. At just 408m, Bryn Alyn's significance is not in its height, but in the dramatic west-facing limestone cliffs, which can be seen from the nearby A494 trunk road and from many of the walking routes in the southern Clwydian hills. Areas of natural limestone pavement can be found throughout the upper parts of the hill. The main points of access to Bryn Alyn are from the nearby villages of Llanferres and Eryrys. A nature information board for Bryn Alyn can be found in the layby on the A494 just south of Llanferres, at grid reference SJ188600.

Llanferres is a village and community in the county of Denbighshire in Wales. At the 2001 Census the population of the village was recorded as 676, increasing to 827 at the 2011 census.

St Berres' Church, Llanferres, is in the village of Llanferres, Denbighshire, Wales on the A494 road between Mold and Ruthin. It is an Anglican church in the Bro Famau Group of Churches, the Mission Area of Mold, the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph. The church is designated by Cadw as a Grade II listed building.

Tafarn-y-Gelyn is a small village in the east of Denbighshire, North East Wales. Situated near Llanferres, at the foot of Moel Famau, just off the A494 road halfway between Ruthin and Mold. Tafarn-y-Gelyn (225m) is the start of the old coach road Bwlch Pen Barras across the Clwydian Range, between Moel Famau and Moel Fenlli. This was the original road from the Vale of Clwyd to Mold before the advent of the A494.

Gwernymynydd (Welsh for 'Alder trees on the mountain') is a village outside the market town of Mold in Flintshire, Wales. It forms part of the Gwernymynydd and Cadole (sometimes shortened to Gwernymynydd) community. At its highest point it is 1000 feet above sea level. It has two pubs (The Swan and The Owain Glyndwr) and a once-busy garage, now a coach depot, home to Eagles & Crawford. Gwernymynydd is also home to a farm, a community centre, and a village primary school. Neighbouring communities include Gwernaffield, Llanferres, Nercwys, and Mold. The population at the 2011 census was 1,141.

Eryrys (Welsh pronunciation: [ɛˈrərɪs]; alternate spelling Erryrys) is a village in Denbighshire, Wales, located at approximate grid reference SJ203578, five miles south of Mold. The village is built on the limestone formation of Bryn Alyn and many limestone outcrops can be seen close by. At 355m above sea level, Eryrys is one of a number of villages with a valid claim to be the highest in Wales; others include Bwlchgwyn, Wrexham (341m, but has a still-active church, which Eryrys does not), and Garn-yr-Erw, Torfaen (390m, but has no church or pub).A number of sources suggested that the name is derived from the Welsh Erw Yrys, or the "acre (erw) of Gyrys", sometimes linked with the "Hen Gyrys o Iâl" identified as the author of early Welsh collections of proverbs. There are several limestone quarries close to the village, some now closed but others still actively serving the local cement industry. Eryrys was formerly a lead-mining community, with the remains of several mines still visible nearby, although lead-mining in the area ceased in the late 19th century. The land around Eryrys is now primarily used for sheep-grazing, with also some dairy farming. Eryrys lies on the edge of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and many walking routes go through or around the village.

Gwernaffield with Pantymwyn is a community in Flintshire, Wales with a population of 1942 as of the 2011 UK census. It includes the villages of Gwernaffield and Pantymwyn.The community council was formed in 1985. It consists of twelve councillors, six elected from the Gwernaffield ward and six from Pantymwyn.For Flintshire County Council, the community is part of the Gwernaffield and Gwernymynydd electoral ward, which elects two councillors.

Gwernaffield (Welsh: Y Waun), also known as Gwernaffield-y-Waun, is a village and electoral ward in Flintshire, Wales. It lies about three miles west of Mold on the eastern side of the Clwydian Range. The village is part of the community of Gwernaffield with Pantymwyn, which has an area of 7.53 km2 and is bordered by the River Alyn on three sides. The community includes the neighbouring village of Pantymwyn and had a population of 1,851 at the time of the 2001 census, increasing to 1,942 at the 2011 census. The name of the village comes from gwern (Welsh for 'alder-grove'), feld (Old English for 'field') and gwaun (Welsh for 'moorland'). Gwernaffield, which adjoins Pantymwyn, Itself had a population of around 900.
