Dallas Graded and High School, also known as the Church Street School, is a historic school building located at Dallas, Gaston County, North Carolina. The main school building was built in 1923–1924, and is a two-story, seven-bay, T-plan Classical Revival style red brick school. It has a flat roof with parapet and features a three-bay porticoed entry pavilion. It has an eight classroom addition built in 1951.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Dallas Historic District is a national historic district located at Dallas, Gaston County, North Carolina. It encompasses eight contributing buildings surrounding the courthouse square and dated between about 1840 and 1900. Dallas served as the county seat of Gaston County from 1847 to 1911. They are the Greek Revival style old Gaston County Courthouse, which now functions as the Dallas Town Hall; the county jail; the Hoffman Hotel; the Rhyne Store; the Smyre-Pasour House; the Matthews Hotel; the Late Victorian style Wilson-Spargo House; and the Setzer General Store.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Gaston College is a public community college in Dallas, North Carolina. Serving Gaston County and Lincoln County, Gaston College enrolls over 5,000 students each term in curriculum programs and about 16,000 students in continuing education programs. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees.

North Gaston High School is a public high school in the Gaston County Schools school district located in Dallas, North Carolina, United States. Its attendance range covers the central portion of northern Gaston County and it also serves the communities of Ranlo, Hardins, High Shoals, Ashebrook Park, Spencer Mountain, and parts of North Gastonia, as well as the surrounding rural areas. George Conner serves as principal. Assistant principals are Mary Beth Edwards, Marsha Michael and Jon Stauffer. Mike Patton serves as athletic director. Feeder middle schools are W.C. Friday and Holbrook.

Dallas Township is a township in north-central Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 21,436. It includes the incorporated towns of Dallas, High Shoals (a portion of which is in Cherryville Township), and Stanley (shared with Riverbend Township). It also includes small portions of the city of Gastonia and a small outlying portion of the town of Ranlo. Unincorporated areas in the township include Alexis, Hardins, Ashebrook Park, and Vinton Woods.

Gaston County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 227,943. The county seat is Gastonia. Dallas served as the original county seat from 1846 until 1911. Gaston County is included in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, NC-SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the fifth largest county in the metropolitan area, as of the 2020 census. It is located in the southern Piedmont region. Of North Carolina's 100 counties, Gaston County ranks 74th in size, consisting of approximately 364.5 square miles (944 km2), and is tenth in population. The county has fifteen incorporated towns. In addition to fifteen incorporated towns and cities, there are several unincorporated communities such as Hardin, Lucia, Crowders Mountain, Sunnyside, Alexis, Tryon, and North Belmont.

Sims Legion Park is a 3,000-seat baseball park in Gastonia, North Carolina that is the home field for Gaston College baseball. It has hosted the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League, as well as American Legion baseball. The Grizzlies moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina starting with the 2021 season and were renamed the Spartanburgers.The stadium underwent a total rebuild in the 1970s in order to attract a Minor League Baseball team. Since then the stadium has seen many tenants come and go. An ongoing effort to build a new ballpark in Gastonia in 2021 produced CaroMont Health Park, home to the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the Atlantic League. Sims Legion Park was further renovated between the 2021 and 2022 baseball seasons.Players who've played here include Andy Van Slyke (Cardinals, Pirates), Sammy Sosa (Rangers, White Sox, Cubs, Orioles), Juan González (Rangers, Tigers, Indians, Royals), Iván Rodríguez (Rangers, Marlins, Tigers), and former Major Leaguer Tug McGraw (Mets, Phillies), who pitched one game for the Rangers in 1989.

Highland School of Technology is a magnet public high school located in Gastonia, North Carolina. It is the first magnet school available to students in the Gaston County Schools public school district and draws students from each of the other nine high schools in the district. The percentage of students at Highland from a particular feeder high school is equal to the overall percentage of that school's students in the district. Students are selected through a lottery among qualified 8th-grade applicants.The school opened to freshmen and sophomores in the 2000 school year. The first graduating class was in 2003. Highland School of Technology has had five principals: David Baldaia, who was the school's inaugural principal, but he left without serving a year to start Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system. Lee Dedmon, UNC' NIT Championship Center "6 foot 11 and 3/4" became the principal in 2001 and remained at the helm until July 1, 2013 when he retired and was succeeded by Denise McLean as principal of Highland. McLean had at one time served as Dedmon's assistant principal at HST. Josh Allen served as her assistant principal. On June 27, 2019, James Montgomery was assigned by the school board to become principal for the 2019–20 school year. Elizabeth Leonard served as assistant principal until 2022, and Forshee Blair serves as athletic director.On December 18, 2023, former HST assistant principal Susan Redmond was assigned by the school board to become principal on January 1, 2024 in the wake of Mr. Montgomery's retirement. Jenny Carper serves as assistant principal beginning with the 2022-23 school year.

Eli Hoyle House is a historic plantation house located near Dallas, Gaston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1830–1833, and is a two-story, five-bay, Federal-style frame dwelling. It has a side-gable roof, exterior brick end chimneys, and sits on a stone foundation. It was built by Eli Hoyle (1801–1844), great-grandson of Pieter Hieyl who built the nearby Hoyle Historic Homestead.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Hoyle Historic Homestead, also known as Hoyle Family Homestead, Peter Hoyle House, and Pieter Hieyl Homeplace, is a mid- to late-18th century two-story house in Gaston County, North Carolina, with notable German-American construction features, the main block of which reflects two, and possibly three, phases, but the exact construction dates have not been determined. A major renovation, c. 1810, added a late Georgian and Federal finish, as well as front and rear shed porches. A brick well house and a frame smokehouse, both east of the house, date from the 19th century. Almost nine acres (36,000 m2), with several large walnut trees, surround the buildings.

Springdale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 1,203. It is bordered on the west and south by the City of Gastonia, on the east by the town of Ranlo, and on the north by the unincorporated community of Monterey Park.

WOSF (105.3 FM) is an urban adult contemporary station licensed to Gaffney, South Carolina; serving the Charlotte, North Carolina market. WOSF is the Charlotte affiliate of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Owned by Urban One, the station's studios are located in South Charlotte near Carowinds, and the transmitter site is located in Dallas, North Carolina. WOSF is the only commercial station licensed to the South Carolina side of the market that brands itself as a full-market Charlotte station. Indeed, it is the only South Carolina-licensed commercial station that covers Charlotte to any significant extent.
