Magnolia Place is a historic home located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. The original section was built about 1818, and is a two-story, five bay by two bay, brick structure in the Federal style. Attached at the rear is a one bay by two bay temple form Greek Revival style addition built about 1850. It features a long full-height porch. The addition was built by Clarke Moulton Avery, second child born to Isaac Thomas Avery, master of Swan Ponds. In 1841, he married Elizabeth Tilghman Walton, daughter of Thomas George Walton, master of Creekside.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Western Piedmont Community College is a public community college in Morganton, North Carolina. It was chartered on April 2, 1964, as a member of the North Carolina Community College System. The college is the home of the Sam J. Ervin Library, dedicated to the veteran U.S. senator and Morganton native, who chaired the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973. The school's nickname is the Pioneers.

The school mascot is a panther, with the school colors being red, black, and white. Pattons rival school is Freedom High School, which is also in Morganton. The schools are 5.9 miles apart. Patton competes in athletics in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, and is a 2A school. The Panthers are currently a member of the Northwest Foothills Conference for sports, along with two other Burke county schools, East Burke and Draughn.

It sits on a stone pier foundation and has a standing seam metal roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Creekside is a historic home located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built in 1836, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick mansion with a gable roof in the Greek Revival style. It features a tetrastyle pedimented portico covers with heavy stuccoed brick Doric order columns. The interior features Federal style decorative elements. It was built by Thomas George Walton, great nephew of George Walton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

U. S. B. Dale's Market, also known as B & S Discount Foods, is a historic commercial building located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1900 as a neighborhood grocery store for the Grant Dale community. It is a one-story, rectangular, flat-roofed, brick building with a stepped parapet. It is a rare intact example of a rural community store.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Mountain View is a historic plantation house at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1815, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Federal-style brick house. It was remodeled in the 1870s in the Gothic Revival style. It features a two-story gabled porch with decorative bargeboards. Later remodelings added Victorian- and Colonial Revival-style decorative elements.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Dr. Joseph Bennett Riddle House is a historic home located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1892, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Queen Anne style frame house. It features a number of balconies, bay windows, and dormers. A three-story tower was added in about 1910.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

West Union Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It encompasses 59 contributing buildings in a predominantly upper class residential section of Morganton. They were built between about 1815 and 1940, with the majority built between about 1890 and 1938. The district includes representative examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Bungalow / American Craftsman, and Late Victorian style architecture. Located in the district and listed separately is the Franklin Pierce Tate House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
