Balterley Green

All Saints Church is in the village of Balterley, Staffordshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Congleton, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield, and the diocese of Chester. Its benefice is united with that of St Bertoline, Barthomley. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Balterley is a village and civil parish in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 204, increasing to 221 at the 2011 census. The parish borders Cheshire to the north, and the village is about six miles south-east of Crewe in Cheshire. Balterley originally was a township within the ancient parish of Barthomley, which mainly lay over the Staffordshire and Cheshire border in Cheshire. On the re-organisation of this ancient parish in 1866, the parish was formed, leaving Barthomley civil parish entirely in Cheshire. In 1965, there was a minor change in the county border of Staffordshire with Cheshire, with Balterley parish exchanging small areas of land with Weston civil parish (in the Cheshire East area). Additionally, some land was lost to Chorlton civil parish, also in Cheshire East.

Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum is in the village of Englesea-Brook, Cheshire, England. Built in 1828, the chapel was one of the earliest chapels of the Primitive Methodist movement, and the Sunday school was added in 1914. Since 1986 it has been a museum of Primitive Methodism. The building is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. In the chapel is a historic pipe organ. The museum contains artefacts relating to the movement, and arranges a changing programme of exhibitions and other events. In the graveyard near the museum is a monument to Hugh Bourne, founder of the movement.

Barthomley is a village and ancient parish, and is now a civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. According to the 2001 and the 2011 census' the parish had a population of 202. The village is situated near junction 16 of the M6 motorway and by the border with Staffordshire. It is about three miles south-west of Alsager. The hamlet of Radway Green, location of a Royal Ordnance Factory, is within the parish, north-east of the village of Barthomley and just outside Alsager. There was a railway station in Radway Green, on the Crewe to Derby Line, as well as a station reserved for the factory at Millway. However, both of these are now closed. Radway Green and Barthomley station closed to goods traffic on 7 June 1964, followed by its closure to passengers on 7 November 1966.

St Bertoline's Church is in the village of Barthomley, Cheshire, England. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Congleton.The church stands in the centre of the village, in an elevated position on Barrow Hill, which was an ancient burial ground. It was the scene of a massacre in the English Civil War. Raymond Richards considered it to be one of the most beautiful churches in the county, and believed it was the only one in England to be dedicated to Saint Bertoline. The church stands above the road and is reached by a flight of steps.

One of the main points of interest is Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum, one of the earliest chapels of the Primitive Methodist movement, and a museum of the working-class religious movement, Primitive Methodism.

The White Lion is a public house in Barthomley, Cheshire, England, just off junction 16 of the M6. It was built in 1614, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Its thatched roof was damaged by a fire in 2013, but it re-opened later that year. In September 2023, its lease expired and the pub was closed for repairs.

Balterley Heath is a village in the traditional county of Cheshire, England. It is now part of Balterley in the administrative county of Staffordshire. Balterley Heath is situated at the junction of the B5500 road with the A531 road, directly at the boundary of Staffordshire and Cheshire East. Black Firs and Cranberry Bog, a nature reserve of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, is nearby.

Black Firs and Cranberry Bog is a nature reserve of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, adjacent to Balterley Heath and about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the village of Betley, in Staffordshire, England. It is an important peatland site; it is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and a Ramsar site.

Betley is a village and civil parish in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England, about halfway between the town of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Nantwich. Betley forms a continual linear settlement with Wrinehill.

Betley Court is an 18th-century country house in the ancient village of Betley, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. It is a Grade II* listed building.The house was built for John Cradock in 1716 and was later altered by architect George Wilkinson. In 1783 extensive gardens, including parterres and water features, were laid out by William Emes. In 1809 the property was largely rebuilt in a two-storey seven bay Georgian style to designs by John Nash. It was further improved in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by architect Douglas Caroe. The country house and estate passed by female descent to the Fenton and Fletcher families and as a result of the 1814 marriage of Elizabeth Fenton to Francis Twemlow, to the Fletcher-Twemlow family. The house fell into disuse following the death in 1976 of Charles Fletcher-Twemlow. The Grade II listed stable block was converted to residential use and new houses were built in the grounds. New owners carried out extensive refurbishment to the House. In 2008 the current owners launched a garden restoration not-for-profit membership organisation called 'The Emes Society' (after William Emes - see above) with the intention of looking after the 10-acre (40,000 m2) garden and developing it for the 21st Century, with open days for the public including, e.g. a Bluebell Walk. The formal part of the garden includes a magnificent Cedar of Lebanon planted by William Barron. On 23 August 2019 Betley Court suffered a devastating fire believed to have started in the roof space.
