Orange, New York

Monterey Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility was a minimum security male shock facility located in the Town of Orange, Schuyler County, New York. The facility was served by the Beaver Dams post office. It was opened on May 1, 1958. New York's shock program was legalized in July 1987. In addition to no-nonsense military discipline, reduced privileges, in-your-face drill instructors and hard physical labor, the six-month shock program differed from other similar "boot camps" around the nation. It would stress education, drug and alcohol abuse treatment and a "therapeutic community" component. At first, inmates could be no older than 23 years old, but the New York State Legislature gradually extended shock programs to older inmates. By closing, inmates must be under 50 years old. The facility was closed on July 27, 2014, as part of Governor Cuomo's plan to shut down four correctional facilities across the state announced one year prior. The Cuomo administration cited a reduction in the state crime rate and drug offenses as a reason for the closure.

Sproul Hill is a mountain in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It is located in west of Watkins Glen in Schuyler County. The mountain is the location of a 67-foot-6-inch-tall (20.57 m) steel fire lookout tower known as the Sugar Hill Fire Tower which was built in 1941. The tower ceased fire lookout operations at the end of 1988, and remains on the mountain and is open to the public.

Bradford is a town in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 811 at the 2020 census. The town is named after Major Robert Bradford, and is located in the northeastern section of the county, north of Corning.

Lamoka Lake, previously known as Mud Lake, is a small crescent-shaped lake in the western part of New York state. The lake is located at the border of Schuyler County and Steuben County. Most of the lake is in Schuyler County with only a small part, called "Mill Pond," at the southwest corner in Steuben County. North of Lamoka Lake is another lake called Waneta Lake, previously known as "Little Lake", which is linked to Lamoka Lake by a short channel. Both Lamoka Lake and Waneta Lake are east of Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes, however they are not part of the Finger Lakes drainage system. While the Finger Lakes drain north into the St. Lawrence River system, Lamoka and Waneta Lakes drain south into Mill Pond, then Mud Creek, and then to the Cohocton River in the Susquehanna River system. The area is the location of a significant archeological site, the Lamoka site, which, according to the National Park Service, "provided the first clear evidence of an Archaic hunting and gathering culture in the Northeastern United States (c.3500 BC)". The site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961.

Weston Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located at Weston in Schuyler County, New York. It is a one-room, one story, gable roofed frame building built about 1870. It was used as a school until 1940.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Watkins Glen International, nicknamed "The Glen", is an automobile race track located in the town of Dix just southwest of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for twenty consecutive years (1961–1980). In addition, the site has also been home to road racing of nearly every class, including the World Sportscar Championship, Trans-Am, Can-Am, NASCAR Cup Series, the International Motor Sports Association and the IndyCar Series. The facility is currently owned by NASCAR. The course was opened in 1956 to host auto races previously held on public roads in and around the village. The circuit's current layout has more or less been the same since 1971, with minor modifications after the fatal crashes of François Cevert in 1973 and J.D. McDuffie in 1991. The site has also hosted music concerts: the 1973 Summer Jam, featuring The Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead and The Band and was attended by 600,000 fans; and two Phish festivals: Super Ball IX in 2011 and Magnaball in 2015.

Waneta Lake (previously known as "Little Lake") is a small lake in the Finger Lakes region of the state of New York in the United States. The lake straddles the border of Schuyler County and Steuben County, and is within the towns of Tyrone and Wayne. Waneta Lake is 3.5 miles long (north-to-south) and half a mile wide (east-to-west), and lies just east of the southern branch of Keuka Lake. Despite its location in the Finger Lakes region, it is not counted as one of the eleven Finger Lakes.

Watkins Glen Grand Prix Course, 1948–1952 is a historic Grand Prix auto race track located at Watkins Glen in Schuyler County, New York. It includes the public rights of way that constituted the route of the original 6.6-mile (10.6 km) Watkins Glen Grand Prix course used from 1948 to 1952. After a car left the road in the 1952 race, killing one spectator and injuring several others, the race was moved to a new location on a wooded hilltop southwest of town.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Wayne is a town located in the northeast corner of Steuben County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 1,006. The town was named after the Revolutionary War general, Anthony Wayne. The Town of Wayne is northeast of Bath.
