Royal Free Hospital

Pond Street is located in Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden. It runs eastwards from Rosslyn Hill to South End Green, located in the old "South End" of the settlement. The street takes its name from an ancient pond at South End Green, a source of the River Fleet, and has been known by this name since at least 1678. The pond survived into the Victorian era.At the western end is St Stephen's, a former church designed in Gothic Revival style by Samuel Sanders Teulon around 1870. What remains of the once larger Hampstead Green is nearby. Hampstead Hill Gardens heads off northwards from Pond Street. The Roebuck Hotel, on the northern side, dates from the late 1860s. The Royal Free Hospital, built in the 1970s, is on the southern side of the street.The closest railway station is Hampstead Heath railway station in adjacent South End Road. Opened in 1860 on the North London Line, it is the oldest station in the area. Many of the buildings in Pond Street are now listed, including a number of stucco designs from the 1860s. Notable residents have included the author Wilkie Collins and the zoologist Julian Huxley, while George Orwell worked in a bookshop which is commemorated with a plaque. Rowland Hill, the founder of the penny post, has a blue plaque at the Royal Free Hospital.

Hampstead Heath railway station is in the London Borough of Camden in north London on the North London Line, between Finchley Road & Frognal and Gospel Oak stations, and is in Travelcard Zone 2. Since 11 November 2007 it and the service there have been run by London Overground.

Hampstead was a civil parish and metropolitan borough in London, England. It was an ancient parish in the county of Middlesex, governed by an administrative vestry. The parish was included in the area of responsibility of the Metropolitan Board of Works in 1855 and became part of the County of London in 1889. The parish of Hampstead became a metropolitan borough in 1900, following the London Government Act 1899, with the parish vestry replaced by a borough council. In 1965 the borough was abolished and its former area became part of the London Borough of Camden in Greater London.

Hampstead Town hall is a municipal building on Haverstock Hill, Hampstead, London. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Magdala, also known as The Magdala Tavern or colloquially as simply The Magy, is a public house on South Hill Park in Hampstead and was named after the British victory in the 1868 Battle of Magdala. It later became infamous as the pub outside which Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in Great Britain, shot her boyfriend in 1955.After closing for refurbishment in 2014, The Magdala reopened in January 2015 before closing again in February 2016, with the upper floors converted to flats. It reopened again as a pub and restaurant in May 2021.The Magdala has been listed as an Asset of Community Value since September 2014.

Belsize Park is a London Underground station in Belsize Park, north-west London. It is on the Edgware branch of the Northern line, between Chalk Farm and Hampstead stations, and is in fare zone 2. It stands at the northern end of Haverstock Hill. In July 2011 it became a Grade II listed building.The Royal Free Hospital is located a short distance to the north of the station. It is the only London Underground station with the letter ‘z’ in its name.

Belsize Wood is a 0.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II, in Belsize Park in the London Borough of Camden. It is a steeply sloping site divided into a northern half, which is always open to the public and is of lesser ecological value, and a southern part which is in a better state of conservation, and which is only open at weekends. The two halves are separated by a public footpath between Lawn Road and Aspern Grove. The site is owned and managed by Camden Council.

St. Stephen's is a former church building in Hampstead, London. It is sited on Rosslyn Hill at its junction with Pond Street, a steep slope adjacent to the Royal Free Hospital, and held up to 1,200 worshippers at its peak.

Hillfield Court is a prominent art deco residential mansion block in Belsize Park, in the London Borough of Camden, built in 1934. It is located off Belsize Avenue and can also be accessed from Glenloch Road. It is one of the many purpose built mansion blocks on Haverstock Hill between Chalk Farm and Hampstead. It is close to the amenities near Belsize Park tube station, as well as the shops of Belsize Village, South End Green and Hampstead.

Isokon Flats, also known as Lawn Road Flats and the Isokon building, on Lawn Road in the Belsize Park district of the London Borough of Camden, is a reinforced concrete block of 36 flats (originally 32), designed by Canadian engineer Wells Coates for Molly and Jack Pritchard.

Keats House is a writer's house museum in what was once the home of the Romantic poet John Keats. It is in Keats Grove, Hampstead, toward the edge of inner north London. Maps before about 1915 show the road with one of its earlier names, John Street; the road has also been known as Albion Grove. The building was originally a pair of semi-detached houses known as "Wentworth Place". John Keats lodged in one of them with his friend Charles Brown from December 1818 to September 1820. These were perhaps Keats's most productive years. According to Brown, "Ode to a Nightingale" was written under a plum tree in the garden. While living in the house, Keats fell in love with and became engaged to Fanny Brawne, who lived with her family in the adjacent house. Keats became increasingly ill with tuberculosis and was advised to move to a warmer climate. He left London in 1820 and died, unmarried, in Italy the following year. The house is a Grade I listed building.

Rosslyn Hill is a road in London, connecting the south end of Hampstead High Street to the north end of Haverstock Hill. It is the site of the Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel, St. Stephen's Church and the Royal Free Hospital. It is served by the bus routes N5, C11, 46 and 268. Pond Street links it to Hampstead Heath railway station. Haverstock Hill, Rosslyn Hill, and Heath Street, Hampstead together constitute one long hill 2.8 km long, rising 99 m, with an average grade of 3.5% (maximum 8.5%).
