Croydon, New Hampshire

The Dartmouth–Lake Sunapee area of the U.S. state of New Hampshire lies in the west-central portion of the state, along the Connecticut River Valley. It includes all of Sullivan County, and parts of Merrimack County and Grafton County. The region shares its name with Dartmouth College, a prestigious Ivy League institution, and Lake Sunapee, a popular tourist destination. Interstate 89 forms the main freeway connecting the region to other parts of New Hampshire, as well as to nearby Vermont. Lebanon, Hanover, and Claremont are the three most populous communities in the region.

Grantham is a town in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 3,404 at the 2020 census, up from 2,985 at the 2010 census. The planned community of Eastman is in the eastern part of the town.

Stocker Brook is a 2.9-mile-long (4.7 km) stream located in western New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the North Branch of the Sugar River, part of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound drainage basin. The brook begins at Cranberry Pond in the town of Croydon, New Hampshire, and flows north, through Stocker Pond, to a junction with Bog Brook in the town of Grantham. The brook turns west, passes the small village of East Grantham, and reaches the North Branch of the Sugar River after another mile, at the main village of Grantham. Stocker Brook is subject to the New Hampshire Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act for the portion downstream of Bog Brook.

Corbin Park (also known as the Blue Mountain Forest and Game Preserve) is a private game preserve in New Hampshire. It contains land in Croydon, Cornish, Plainfield, and Grantham. It occupies somewhere between 24,000 and 26,000 acres (97 and 105 km2) of land and was started in 1889 by businessman Austin Corbin. The park is known today for its secrecy.

The Corbin Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge over the North Branch of the Sugar River on Corbin Road, approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) west of NH 10 in Newport in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, but was removed following its destruction by fire in the early hours of May 25, 1993. It has since been reconstructed.

It is owned by the Town of Newport and located two nautical miles (3.74 km) north of its central business district. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility.Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned 2B3 by the FAA, but has the designation NWH from the IATA.

The North Branch of the Sugar River is a 10.1-mile-long (16.3 km) river located in western New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Sugar River, which flows to the Connecticut River, which flows to Long Island Sound. The North Branch of the Sugar River begins at the confluence of Sawyer Brook and Stocker Brook in the town of Grantham, New Hampshire. The river flows south through the town of Croydon, reaching the Sugar River in the town of Newport. In Croydon, the river's flow is interrupted by Spectacle Pond, a 40-acre (16 ha) two-lobed lake. New Hampshire Route 10 follows the North Branch for nearly its entire length.

Guild (pronounced ) is an unincorporated community in the town of Newport in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, in the United States. It is located near the eastern boundary of Newport, along New Hampshire Routes 11 and 103. Route 11 proceeds east to Sunapee and New London, while Route 103 travels southeast to Newbury, Bradford, and Warner. Both routes travel west to the center of Newport and on to Claremont. The village is located along the Sugar River. Guild has a separate ZIP code (03754) from the rest of the town of Newport.

The Richards, Dexter, & Sons Woolen Mill, also known locally as the Dexter Mill, is a historic industrial property at 169 Sunapee Street in Newport, New Hampshire. Built in 1905, it is a well-preserved example of period mill architecture, which served as an important area employer for many years. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Seth Mason Richards House, housing the Richards Free Library and the Library Arts Center, is a historic house, public library, and art gallery at 58 North Main Street in Newport, New Hampshire. This three-story Colonial Revival house was designed by Boston, Massachusetts architect James T. Kelley and built in 1898-99 for Captain Seth Mason Richards, a scion of one of Newport's wealthiest families. The property, including the house and carriage house, were donated by his heirs for use as the town's public library in 1962. The library is housed in the main building, while the carriage house has been converted for use as a gallery space. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as "Richards Free Library") in 1984.

Newport is a town in and the county seat of Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States. It is 43 miles (69 km) west-northwest of Concord, the state capital. The population of Newport was 6,299 at the 2020 census. A covered bridge is in the northwest. The area is noted for maple sugar and apple orchards. Prior to county division in 1827, Newport was in Cheshire County. The central part of town, where 4,735 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Newport census-designated place (CDP) and is located next to the Sugar River at the junction of New Hampshire routes 10 and 11. The town also includes the villages of Kelleyville, Guild, and North Newport.

The Newport Opera House is a historic civic building and performing arts venue at 20 Main Street in the heart of downtown Newport, the county seat of Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States. Built in 1886, it was billed as having the largest stage in New England north of Boston, and continues to serve as a performance venue today. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as "Town Hall and Courthouse", in 1980, for its architecture and civic roles, and is a contributing property in the Newport Downtown Historic District.
